makes and models. We do all repairs from oil
& filter changes to engine rebuilds. Also, we

In October 1961 Grady Shoe started Mooresville
Ford in a small brick facility in downtown
Mooresville. It was founded on the principles of
integrity and treating people well, these same
principles still apply to our daily operation 55

WHAT IS THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?
The Mooresville Chamber of Commerce was first established in 1916 for the purpose of
uniting and combining people into a band of laborers, that will work for the Town and its
interest at all times (W.J. Haselden, Mooresville, North Carolina : The Early Years, P 149,
1967) Almost 90 years later, the chamber is still accomplishing this early ambition. In
1953, the Mooresville Chamber of Commerce was reorganized and received a Certificate
of Incorporation from the State of North Carolina. It was at this time the chamber had its
first full-time paid staff. It operated under this name until 1982, when the Mooresville
Chamber of Commerce and Mooresville Merchants Association merged. From this merger,
the chamber assumed its current identity of the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of
Commerce.
The purpose of this organization is for advancement of the civic, commercial and industrial growth of general interest of the Town of Mooresville and the South Iredell area. It is a
nonprofit organization. It dispenses information concerning all aspects of the community

and acts as the catalyst in the civic activities. The Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of
Commerce is a major force in promoting the quality of life.

Our vision is to be a proactive business and community organization committed to providing education and support, with an influential voice, dedicated to economic success and

Our business philosophy is universal among our amazing staff, which is probably the best
thing about us. We strive to exceed our clients expectations, cheerfully. The compliments we
hear the most are about our staff and how gracious and accommodating they are to each
and every person who uses the Civic Center.
About the business: We are a versatile venue for our citizens and the surrounding region
that can accommodate any type event from a baby shower for 10 to a concert for 1,200 and
everything in between. We are available for personal events like reunions and weddings but
we are also utilized by non-profits like the Heart Ball, Rescue Ranch, Hospice and many more
for fundraising events. We also stay very busy being the chosen location for many corporate
groups for conferences, meetings and training sessions.
Our business is unique because: Three things that come to mind. One is that the Civic
Center was brought into existence as a service to our community members to provide a
well maintained and beautiful location to have the special events in their lives. We stay
reasonably priced, by design, so that the Civic Center is accessible to the majority of the
community. So many people from other cities tell us that our community is very fortunate
to have it and that they wished they had something like the Civic Center where they live.

TRANSPORTATION
Vinces Good as Gold Transportation, a full service shop, opened

at 1715 Shelton Avenue in Statesville in May of 2000. Although it is not
a dealership, owner Vince Cason has worked at dealerships since the
1970s. He has been certified by the school at the Harley-Davidson plant
in Milwaukee and earned Master of Technology, Harleys highest recognition in the technician program. He is also Twin Cam certified and has
been to an engine rebuilding course through Harley-Davidson. With over
42 years of experience, Vince is an expert in building, servicing, repairing,
and obtaining parts for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Not only can he work
on Twin Cam and Evolution (including fuel injected) motors, and v-twins
including Shovelheads, Panheads, Knuckleheads, Flatheads, Ironhead
Sportsters, and S&S engines. Engines are shipped to Vince from all over
the east coast to be rebuilt. Good as Gold specialties also include big bore,
high performance hop-ups, and strokers.
In Vinces Good as Golds 4,000 square foot facility, machine shop
services, as well as custom paint and artwork, are available. Bikes can be
built to order from stock to strip, from mild to wild, and are limited only
by the imagination. Vince is a bike builder and true mechanic, not just a
parts changer. If you want a bike built, he will listen to you and build the
bike that YOU want, not what HE wants to build. Anybody can assemble
parts, but not everybody can build a bike the RIGHT way. Vince admits that
he doesnt know anything about any aerospace technology, and he never
worked on jets, but he DOES know HARLEY-DAVIDSONS. Vince alone does
the bike building and service work at Good as Gold. He has no intentions
of recruiting anybody and teaching them to build bikes saying, Would
you really trust your life on a bike built by an on-the-job trainee? The only
other person who puts a hand on the bikes is Ruth, Vinces ol lady, who
does the polishing and detailing. Vince says something about getting a
rash if he gets too close to polishing supplies! Vince has built bikes for
people in North and South Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and the last custom
bike went to Washington State. Vince says, You wouldnt go to a fish
house for a steak. Why would you go to a plumber or carpenter to build you
a bike? Good as Gold custom bikes start around $16,000.
Transmissions are also rebuilt at Good as Gold. Before passing,
Don Tilley of Tilley Harley-Davidson highly recommended Vinces Good as
Gold for all pre-1985 v-twin repairs or parts. As a previous employee of
Tilley Harley-Davidson, Don had seen firsthand the work that Vince can do.
From engine and transmission rebuilding to complete restorations, Vince
is the man that can do it all. Service is never a problem. Only genuine
Harley-Davidson oil and transmission fluids are used for service work.

Back in 1990 we opened our dealership with a few ideas. We knew

that we wanted to treat our customers as the most important people
at our business, because thats what they are. We knew that we
always wanted to be friendly and that we wanted our customers
to feel comfortable no matter what they came in for. Finally, we
knew that we should have multiple brands under one roof. From our
earliest days we strived to build a bond with the community and over
the years have brought together some of the greatest GM brands
with Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Buick. We have added dealerships
and brands that now include GMC, Subaru, Ford, Lincoln and Isuzu.
Our dealerships stretch from Huntersville to Hickory and we pride
ourselves on the huge selection we have built for our customers.
We began providing accessories to our customers many years ago,
and began to realize that time and time again our customers wanted

notch so we moved this down the street to its own facility to better
serve our buyers.
