INTRODUCTION

An unidentified flying object, or UFO, in its most general definition, is any apparent anomaly in
the sky that is not identifiable as a known object or phenomenon. Culturally, UFOs are
associated with claims of visitation by extraterrestrial life or government-related conspiracy, and
have become popular subjects in fiction.

Anyway an UFO built with unique aerodynamics design which enable it to move at very high
velocity. Let say we may built a vehicle with UFO design, what kind the movement it will
produce? The streamlines shape around the UFO and the drag and lift forces. So, let analyze the
UFO movement with CD-adapco Star ccm+.

Set up the inlet flow, outlet flow and the slip or symmetry.

Set up the region which boundary will be inlet(inlet velocity) ,outlet(pressure outlet), slip(fluid
domain) or the object(wall).

Let compare the streamlines with same setting of mesh but different speed
Compare the streamline produce by the UFO with speed 150 m/s and 50 m/s. We will do about
1000 iterations for all cases study.
Scalar Scene 150 m/s ( Case I)

We can see the concentration of streamlines shape near the UFO body. The pressure at the top
tips of the UFO a bit lower than the rest of the body. This show that top tips of the UFO has
high speed and the streamlines with indicate the velocity magnitude concentrated at the top tips
of the UFO.
Scalar scene 50 m/s ( Case II )

Compare to the 150 m/s , the streamlines a bit less concentrated at 50 m/s
Next, let compare the meshing sizes for case II and III.
Scalar Scene 50 m/s ( Case III )

We can see the poor pressure meshing at the UFO body compare to the study case I and II. In
study case IV, the scalar scene is not much different although they has large or small area size
study. The value of drag and lift force in study case III and IV also almost the same.
Lastly, let compare the graph pressure coefficient for all cases study.
Case I

Case II

Nothing much different in shape but somehow different in pressure coefficient values. This may
be due to different in speed setting for case I and II.

Case III

Case IV

Nothing much different for study case III and IV. Hence, study case are for large or small area
not much differ.
