Computer Science the key to a bright future for Latin America.

Among the many gifts and improvements that computer science has brought to Latin
America the most important has to be communications, the progressive and unifying
power of communication has open a myriad of opportunities for the many poor Latin
American countries that still struggle to be part of a globalize economy, in this short
paper I would like to address or to point a few of the many fields in which computer
science has revolutionize the way Latin America sees the world.
Is been more than 50 years since the first computer came to Latin America, it was back
in the 1960s in Argentina, when a few scientists first explore the use of computers for
the application of calculus; today the majority of the Latin American people use
everything that is build thanks to computer to communicate, to unify their families.
A lot of Latinos travel North to the USA or east to Spain or Europe in search of better
opportunities, on their way to another country they leave their families, their loved ones
behind, Technology in general and even more important computers are a bridge for
many to have the opportunity to get closer between each other. It also has become a
way for many to inspire others, one of the recent examples is #SOSVenezuela which
was a social movement that spark a social movement that unified both ideological
extremes within the country, those who were followers of ex-president Chavez and
those that were against the current government raised to go against a government that

is destroying their hopes and opportunities, besides social media, advances in health
has increase due to a better management of data, virus like the zika, the chikungunya
and many others had been able to be control thanks to a systematized way in which the
data helps to keep control this dangerous epidemics, As a form of expression computer
science has allowed a lot of artist show their crafts on the internet as way of graphic
designs or as music, making easier to expand and globalize the cultures that make
them rich in priceless value.
It has also allowed many businesses to grow and expand their horizons to a global
reach, like one of the best coffees from my country Nicaragua which now you can find it
and buy it online. It is indeed so hard to describe and expand of the great benefits and
gifts that computer science and technology in general has brought to the world and in
regarding to my paper, the Latin Americas.

Before I finish this paper I would like to share a quote by Nikola Tesla, The spread of
civilization may be likened to a fire; first, a feeble spark, next a flickering flame, then a
mighty blaze, ever increasing in speed and power. (by Nikola Tesla, 1856, 1943), today
Computer science and technology has become part of our civilization, a global
movement and innovation that will change and shape the destiny of the human race to
an unimaginable scale, not only by making life as we know it a bit easier but also by
allowing us to become one, in culture, understanding, a unify vision of that which
humans call destiny and future.
