INTRODUCTION

Notice to the installer and user

This edition contains helpful information on the operation and installation

of Farfisa articles.

Check the integrity of the device after removing it from the packing.

In order to make the systems work perfectly it is necessary to install only

Farfisa equipment, keeping strictly to the items referred to in each
diagram.
Read all the notes carefully, (even the small ones) in each installation
scheme and the working instructions of the system given in the
following pages.
For the sake of clarity, please notice that the sequence of the terminals
of each article has not been followed. Only the terminal code (letter and/
or number) is valid not the graphic sequence.
The items may have more terminals than the ones in the installation
diagrams. The excess terminals must not be utilized.

Packing materials (such as plastic bags, cardboard, polystyrene

foam, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children.
Avoid bumping and hitting the apparatus, it could break of the CRT
tube with consequent projections of fragmented glass.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for possible damages
caused by improper, erroneous and unreasonable use.
For correct operation make sure that ventilation or heat dissipation
openings and slots are not obstructed.
Do not open or tamper with the video intercom apparatus when it is ON.
There is high voltage inside.
The cable runs of any intercom unit must be kept separate from the
mains as required by International standards.
In case of breakdown or change in the system consult specialized
personnel.
It is advisable to provide behind the (fused spur) power supply a
disconnecting and safety switch.
Before connecting the unit, make sure its data correspond's to those
of the mains.

General characteristics
- timed operation
- automatic extension of time during conversation
- automatic shut-OFF of system at the end of a conversation (by
replacing the hand-set)

PROJECT
*

PUNTOVIRGOLA

Check that the connections of the system are

carried out correctly.
Put the system in use by connecting the
power supply to the mains.
By pushing a call button from the external
push-button panel, it activates the bell of the
corresponding monitor and it activates the
system for a time of about 50 seconds. The
images appear on the monitor a few seconds
after the call.
Focus the scene to be filmed.
The user called, by lifting the handset, can
speak with the outside and at the same time
increase the activation time of the system
(about 3 minutes). If in the meantime another
call occurs, the monitor shuts itself off and
connects the last call. By replacing the handset the system shuts off automatically.

In case more calls occur simultaneously, a

protection circuit against overloading and
short circuiting is provided to disable the
timer and therefore to shut off the system.
In the absence of calls from the door station,
from any monitor (if provided in the system) it
is possible to control the entrance by pressing the button (control switch ON). Such a
control is not possible with an active system
and when a conversation is taking place. To
work the electric door lock release press the
button from monitor series Project and
PV1260. For the FLAT PV2160 monitor press
the button to the right of the handset. In the
two or more entrance systems all the audio
and video communications and door lock
release, from one entrance to the other, are
automatically switched with the call or the
control switch ON.

Connection of an additional power supply in systems with long distance

between the camera unit and the power supply base

In these systems the control switch ON from

the monitors can interrupt a running communication, for this reason it is advisable to
interrupt, by means of a relay 1471, all the
control switches ON when the video system is
active, giving the priority of the communication to the door stations (see page 24).
In systems with the intercommunicating service, the communication between monitors
and/or intercoms occur with system in standby.
Adjustments
All the regulations are carried out in the
factory. For possible corrections the intervention of a specialized technician is advisable. The Contrast and Brightness adjustments, being subject to the environmental
lighting conditions, are accessible from the
under neath by means of a screw driver.

PROJECT

Defects and probable trouble

- Check the voltage output of the power

supply (see in detail the values indicated in
the power supply and control chapter).
- Check that the cross section of the wire
corresponds to what is indicated on page 26
and the descriptions of each diagram.
- Check that the connection of the wire corresponds to the installation diagram.

Preliminary checks
- Check for the presence of the mains voltage
between terminals 230 (or 127) and 0 of the
power supply.
- The power supply is not provided with fuses,
but all of its outputs are protected against
overloading and short circuiting by temperature sensors. To reset the power supply, power must be cut off for about one minute and
can be restored after having eliminated the
defect.

ERREP/R

The probability of breakdown in the videointercom systems is obviously greater than in

the intercom system. Consequently this brief
troubleshooting takes into consideration the
most common defects. When a defect is
limited to only one monitor it is evident that
the trouble is a short circuit to the monitor
itself, to the connecting terminal board or to
the wires that go to the riser. The simplest
way to test the efficiency of a monitor is to try
if in another flat where everything functions
correctly.

INSTALLATION DIAGRAMS

PROJECT

The following pages show the installation diagrams most often used in the video-intercom system. Upon request Farfisa supplies
installation diagrams for the configurations not present in this manual.

Combination intercom video-intercom systems
Multi-way systems with main entrance and auxiliary entrances
Intercommunicating multi-way systems with 1 or more entrances
One or two-way systems

PUNTOVIRGOLA

For a clearer understanding of the diagrams, the sequence of terminals in each individual article has not been followed. Only the
terminal code is valid (letter e/o number) not the graphic sequence.
The items may have more terminals than the ones in the installation diagrams. The excess terminals must not be utilized.

SLIM

The conduit of the wires of any video and video-intercom system must be carried out separately from the light or industrial system
as prescribed from the International standards.
It is advisable to provide behind the (fused spur) power supply a disconnecting and safety switch.
Before connecting the unit, make sure its data correspond to those of the mains.
The installation diagrams for 1 or more external stations illustrated in this technical manual have been represented with a one
monitor for each user. However, it is possible to personalise the installation by matching properly to the base diagrams of pages
31, 33, 37, 39, 41, 43, the applications of pages 50, 51, 52, 53, and 54. For further details, see page 48.
The installation diagrams from page 33 to page 47 use control panels of Mody or ErreP/R series (and camera unit 1385R), and
they can also be used for one-way installations and video kits of the Mody series. Connect one monitor, by using a one call wire,
and not the video distributor (the coaxial cable is connected directly to the monitor wall bracket).

Working instructions
It is similar to the basic system described on
page 28, but with the following variations:
- from the intercom the user has about 40
seconds to answer by lifting the handset and
therefore can speak for an unlimited time with
video privacy towards the other users. By
replacing the handset the system shuts itself
OFF.

WITH COAX

Note
- The A and F terminals of article 1382 can be
connected to a maximum of 8 lamps (24V-3W).
If this number is exceeded, one or more 12V
transformers and an proper power will be required (type PRS210).
- If the control switch ON is needed connect
terminal 4 of the timer (dashed line).
- If secrecy of conversation is not needed, all
the systems 4+1 Farfisa can be used.
- For the cross section of the wires see the
table on page 26.
- To connect the coaxial cable see pages 26
and 27.

Connection of secrecy module to the terminal board of the system

Notes for systems of Project series:
- to cut the jumper W1 that links the
terminals 3 and 7.
- move the connection of the buzzer
from terminal 3 to 7.
- make the connection between terminal
7 of the intercom and the - (minus) of the
privacy module.
Cut the resistance R1 in all of the privacy modules.

Note
The 75 resistance inserted between terminals 1 and 3 of
monitors is supplied with the product. It is not to be added.
- The A and F terminals of article 1382 can be connected to a
maximum of 6 lamps (24V-3W). If this number is exceeded, one or
more 12V transformers and an proper power will be required (type
PRS210).
- To have the control switch ON for the 3 video entrances it is
necessary to make the dashed line connections and use WB5160,
WB5660, WB2160, WB1260 wall brackets.
- The wall brackets are configurated to work without the audio
privacy, to restore it the jumper J1 must be moved (see pages 3, 5,
7, 9 and 10).
- In this system the control switch ON from the monitors can
interrupt a running communication, for this reason it is advisable to
interrupt it by means of a relay art.1471 (see page 24).
- For the cross section of the wires see the table on page 26.
- To connect the coaxial cable see pages 26 and 27.

EXTENSION OF VIDEO INTERCOM SYSTEM

PROJECT
*

PUNTOVIRGOLA

All installation diagrams in this technical manual we have used only

one monitor for each user. It is possible to personalise the installation, by matching properly to the base diagrams of pages 31, 33, 35,
37, 39, 41, 43, the applications on the following pages (50 to 54). Such
examples refer to applications with a one video-intercom entrance. To
plan systems with 2 or more audio-video entrances, and if more than
one control switch-ON is needed, use the first buttons of monitor (P1,
P2 or T1, T2, etc.), by making the terminals for intercommunicating
calls slide on to the lower ones (P3, P4 or T3, T4).
In the base diagrams the dashed lines identify the wires for control
switch-ON, whereas in the additional diagrams the dashed lines
refer to the wires for intercommunicating service.
When the simultaneous switch-ON of several monitors is needed,
and extra power supplies are to be added, take care that terminal I of
timer 1382 can be connected to a maximum of 3 power supplies
1281.

Extension of a ONE-WAY system

To plan a one-way system with several monitors and/or parallel
intercoms and with or without intercommunicating service, proceed as follows.
- make a photocopy of the additional diagram desired, selecting it
between those of pages 50, 51, 52, 53;
- cut vertically the diagram in correspondence to the arrow *
;
- put the diagram on the base diagram, so as to cover the existing
monitor, then line up the wires of the 2 diagrams;
- if specified in the additional diagram, connect the I and A wires to
the terminals of article 1382;
- to obtain the intercommunicating service, make the connections
which have been drawn with a dashed line.

Example: by making a photocopy of the additional diagram of page

50 (3 parallel monitors), then applying it on to the installation diagram
of page 39 (Si 5250), and lining it up to the riser wires, it is possible
to obtain a one-way system, with 3 parallel monitors connected to 2
external video stations.

Example: by making a photocopy of the additional diagram of page

52 (1 monitor and 2 parallel intercoms), then applying it on to the
installation diagram of page 43 (Si 5350), and lining it up to the riser
wires, it is possible to obtain a multi-way system, with 1 monitor and
2 parallel intercoms in one apartment, connected to 3 external video
stations.

Example: by making a photocopy of the additional diagram of page

54 (1 monitor and 2 parallel intercoms), then applying it on to the
installation diagram of page 43 (Si 5350), and lining it up to the riser
wires, it is possible to obtain a multiway system in one or more
apartments, with 1 monitor and 2 parallel intercoms, connected to 3
external video stations.

Note. if the intercommunicating service between monitors or systems

is also needed, once the system is on, the user can listen to other
users, who are speaking to the outside.
If such an option is not desired, use the diagrams of page 54 to make
the extension (see the following chapter).

Notes
Floor calls are available in videointercom installations
with coaxial cable. To provide the service, you must use
wall-mounting brackets (WB5160, WB5660, WB2160
or WB1260), add a wire in the riser and connect the floor
button as shown in the enclosed diagram.
A continuous tone different from the external push-button
panel modulated tone is generated when pressing the
floor button.
In installations with intercommunication service the same
continuous tone is used for floor and intercom calls.

Installation rules

Working instructions

PROJECT
*

- Cable channels of intercom and videointercom installations must be kept separate

from lighting or industrial systems as required by CEI Standards. Installations must
be realised according to the provisions of the law.
- A protective switched circuit-breaker must be provided before the power supply. Use
a single general switch in case of multiple power supplies (also for multiple entrances).
- Before connecting the power supply make sure that the rating complies with the
electrical mains.
- For electromagnetic compatibility reasons service modules must be installed near
their power supply.

PUNTOVIRGOLA

Wires

SLIM

1) You must select the correct type of cable to ensure the correct operation of
videointercom installations.
2) Wires must be dimensioned according to the distance between the devices and
according to their consumption.
3) Do not use multiple wires in parallel to reach the requested cross-section (for
example multipair telephone cables). Use a single wire with suitable cross-section.
In case of multicore cables use cables with low parasite parameters (low capacity
per metre, low inductance over Ohm).
4) If the installation includes additional power supplies, place them near the devices to
be powered.
Background noise
To avoid background noise over the voice line, it is recommended:
1) not to use the same cable channel for intercom cables and wires with AC loads;
2) to avoid using the same multicore cable for the transmission of voice signals and for
AC power supplies (lamps, amplified external stations, electrical locks). Always use
separate wires for AC power supplies;
3) for name plate lighting use a 12V additional transformer (PRS210 type) with suitable
capacity (consumption is 75mA for each lamp), keeping the 2 power supply wires
separate from the voice wires
4) the power supply must be positioned near the external door station in case of a long
distance between the external door station and the last videointercom.

Check that the connections of the system are carried out

correctly.
Put the system in use by connecting the power supply to
the mains.
By pushing a call button from the external push-button
panel, it activates the bell of the corresponding monitor
and it activates the system for a time of about 100
seconds. The images appear on the monitor a few
seconds after the call.
If in the meantime another call occurs, the monitor shuts
itself off and connects the last call. The system switches
off automatically after 100 sec.
In case more calls occur simultaneously, a protection
circuit against overloading and short circuiting is provided to disable the timer and therefore to shut off the
system.
In the absence of calls from the door station, from any
monitor (if provided in the system) it is possible to control
the entrance by pressing the
button (control switch
ON).
To work the electric door lock release press the
button from monitors.
In the two or more entrance systems all the audio and
video communications and door lock release, from one
entrance to the other, are automatically switched with the
call or the control switch ON.
In these systems the control switch ON from the monitors
can interrupt a running communication, for this reason it
is advisable to interrupt, by means of a relay, all the
control switches ON when the video system is active,
giving the priority of the communication to the door
stations.
Adjustments
All the regulations are carried out in the factory. For
possible corrections the intervention of a specialized
technician is advisable. The Contrast and Brightness
adjustments, being subject to the environmental lighting
conditions, are accessible from the under-neath by means
of a screw driver.

If the distance between the camera and the last videointercom is lower than 200 metres,
two 0.5mm (=0,5mm) wires can be used for video connection instead of coaxial
cable. A twisted pair must be used for 100m to 200m distances.
