INTRODUCTION
Based on the background of the study above, this study is limited to find out the
developing studdents speaking and vocabulary skill using drilling method or technique at
Accounting class in SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2015/2016.
b. Students
It is hoped to make the students of accounting class of SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in
academic year 2015/2016 be more interest and give more attention in learning English.
They should get the new experience about learning english. And they shouldnt feel bored
in learning english.
2. Practical Significances
a. Teacher
The english teachers can use drilling technique in teaching english to develop the
studentsspeaking and vocabulary skill. The teacher is able to use the video by sending
the material of the lesson to the students. Hopefully makes the students be more interest
with
the
teacher
and
easy
to
catch
the
materials.
b. Students
the finding of this study would help students in understanding more the material given
by the teacher. This finding also hoped can develop students motivation and confidence,
creating new habit and new atmosphere which will develop their achievement too.
E. Scope and Limitation of the Study
This research is only limited on the use of Drilling Technique in developing students
speaking and vocabulary skill at Accounting class in SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the academic
year of 2015/2016 with the material about describing something or someone.
F. Definition of Key Terms
In order to avoid the misunderstanding of this research to the
readers, the definition of key terms is used to make it clear in comprehending this
study, such as: developing Speaking and vocabulary skill, Drilling Technique and SMK PGRI
2 Nganjuk.
1. Developing Speaking and Vocabulary skill
Speaking and vocabulary are two relationships that can not be separated each other
,its the activities by which human beings try to express thought, feeling, opinion and to
exchange information by using utterances in the form of communication. And speaking and
vocabulary skill are the ability to produce words, to express, to state, and to deliver thought,
ideas and feeling. Speaking and vocabulary are a tool of communication that is why it is
necessary for people to develop their speaking and vocabulary skill in order to have a good
communication with others.
2. Drilling technique
In the book Nana Sudjana (1991 : 86 ) , drill method is one activity do the same thing , over
and over again in earnest with the aim of to enhance a skill to be permanent . A distinctive
feature of this method is a form of repetition activities many times from the same thing .
drilling technique gives students understanding by repetition.The teacher guide the students to
follow what the teacher say. Even though only drilling the students its good for them to
memorize the word step by step.
3.SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk
SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk is the level of senior high school which is located in
Abdul rahman saleh street, Nganjuk regency, East Java. SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk is the
Favourite private school in Nganjuk and becomes the place where the research will be
conducted.
