Malaria is the biggest health problem in Uganda and Africa in general. Its

year leading to many deaths. On the economic front, malaria costs Africa

HUMAN RIGHTS
Historical images of Apartheid in South Africa
Apartheid consisted of numerous laws that allowed the ruling white
minority in South Africa to segregate exploit and terrorize the vast
majority: Africans, mostly, but also Asians and colored people of mixed
race. In white ruled South Africa, black people was exploited, their lives
segregated.
Under Apartheid, racist beliefs were enshrined in low and any criticism of
the law was

suppressed. Apartheid was racism made law. It was a

system dictated in the minutest detail as to how and where the large
black majority would live, work and die. This system of institutionalize
racial discrimination defled the principles of the United Nations charter
and the universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In 1976 the united Nation unanimously condemned the elevation of one
of the homelands, Transkei; into an independent state because it
remained dependent on South Africa .Not one country in the world
recognized the new state. In 1982, almost one million black South
Africans were transferred to another country -- Swazilandwithout their
having ant say in the matter.
Ultimately, blacks demonstrated, held strikes and rioted over such
discriminatory practices. As a result, diplomatic pressure mounted
abroad for exchange. In 1990 Nelson Mandela who had devoted his life to
democracy, equality and leaning for all South Africans was released from
prison after serving almost 30 years for those beliefs.

reduce default. On making the buying order, clients will fill in the client
information form, an order and sign a purchase transfer form and then
pay for the number of shares he/she is willing to buy and broker will
issue him/her with a receipt. On the day the order is executed at the
exchange, the broker will then send his/her buying client a purchase
contract note showing the number of shares purchased, the price per
share and the commission chargeable. A purchase contract note is a
legal document that acts as proof of ownership until the share certificate
arrives therefore it must be kept safely.

we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put

Question twenty five

Using Microsoft word, type the statements below and answer the
questions that follow.
IRR analysis is generally used to evaluate the projects cash flows, rather
than the income from the project that would be shown on an income
statement (also known as the profit and loss statement). Why? Because
on a P&L reflects depreciation, but depreciation is not an out of-pocket
expenses. For instance, if revenue of $10,000 is reduced to $7,000 of
income because of a $3,000 depreciation deduction, you still have the
use the full $10,000. So the cash flow figure of $10,000 is usually the
more instructive one to look at. However, if you are very concerned about
the appearance of your income statement (for example if you anticipate
putting the business up for sale or seeking the major financing in the
future, or if youre under stockholder pressure for increased income) you
may decide that the income figure is more appropriate to use.
How do you compute the IRR? .The easiest way is to use a good financial
calculator. if you dont have one , or dont want to take the time to learn
to use one, you can also use the present value table located in Business.

Questions that follow.
Tips for financing major purchases
Dont fall for expensive products. Service contracts that are pitched to
you when you buy a piece of business equipment are often good deal for
the supplier but not for you. In most cases, the amount youd spend on
a service contract is wasted money.

This is especially true in case of

generic equipment that normally caries a warranty anyway if some

By nkoyoyoedward@gmail.com2015

Page 29

thing is going to go wrong, it will generally do so in the first 30 days to 60

days, when your warranty should cover your problem.
There may be situations where service contracts are good deal. For
example if the equipment was custom-built and is expected to need
regular maintenance in future, if the space parts and knowledge lobour
will be hard to find, or if getting repair done immediately is extremely
important to your business operation, you might decide to purchase a
service contract on trial basis.
Compare the NPV of loan payments. If you have decided to purchase a
major asset and are planning to take out a loan, a good way to compare
option available is to do a net present value analysis of your cash flows
under the various interest rates and terms your local lender have
available. Your cash flow project should consider the loan payment
outflows as well as revenue inflows that would result from your purchase
or project.

b) Justify the sentences.
c) Drop the first letters of the paragraph.
d) Format your work to be double spaced.

Is network marketing just a scam
By nkoyoyoedward@gmail.com2015

Page 30

Theres huge difference between network marketing and pyramid

schemes. Learn the truth here.
Q: Some friends try to recruit me into network marketing deals that seem
like some type of money game or pyramid. Other friends tell me theyre
illegal and Ill get into trouble. How do I know whats legal and legitimate?
A: To help you understand what network marketing is, I must first
explain what it isnt.
First, network marketing isnt a pyramid scheme. Pyramids are programs
similar to chain letters where people just invest money based on
promises that other people will put in money that will filtrate back to
them and somehow, theyll get rich. A pyramid is strictly a money game
and has no basis in real commerce. Normally, there is no product
involved at all, just money changing hands. Modern-day pyramids may
have a product, but its Cleary there just to disguise the money game.

The bread and side dishes
Harry was a married man who succumbed to the temptation of a
girlfriend. But this new catch did not like his beards. From the first day,
she started coaxing him into shaving them off. But my wife loves this
beard; I could not possibly do it. She would kill me, Harry replied.
That set the girlfriend to have the beard cut if only to check her prowess
against hers. A month later, she told Harry the relationship had to end
because he had refused to shave off his beard. Harry was madly in love
and decided to have the beard removed.
That night, fearing his wife would raise hell over the beards she loved so
much, Harry came late and sneaked into bed while the wife was sleeping.
When the wife woke up and left him, she startled out of her sleep.
Mike! She exclaimed. You still here? How did you forget? You must go
home before my husband comes. He must be on his way. He will be here

MY SHOES
Thank God for my shoes-they fit.
I woke up one day and realize that there were many things about my life I
was not satisfied with or better still, there were challenges that were
threatening my soul and I said to myself, Why should anyone envy me
and want to in my shoes. They said did not know how far I have come,
they do not know what lies ahead of me, and neither do they know what
dissatisfaction I get with myself from time to time.
People do not know the trouble that you have had or the price you had to
pay to get where you are. All they to know is that they wish they were like
you. Why should you wish you were in any bodys shoes when you hardly
know how they fit? When you have worn your shoes for a while, they take
the shape of your feet and align to the way you walk. If you were to wear
my shoes, you would not be comfortable in them. So I stop to wishing
that I am in some ones else shoes because they might not fit: rather I
thank God for my shoes, because they fit! I have learnt to be the best in
what I do and I know no one can replace me anywhere and in my sphere.
I am original, my God is not in the cloning business. He makes originals!
Make the best of you do; besides you have this beautiful life to live ONLY
ONCE. Live it to the fullest.

Thinking that Man. United is the only EPL top-four team in trouble is a
reflection question. United whenever they started underdogs they
performed well. Reflect on the 2011/2012 season.
When they clear off their seemingly games for the 2013/14 season, it is
good for May 2014. Ferguson one time said that the premiership is won
in may. United are the defending champions.
United never had fleets of high profile players.
David Moyes has support of almost everybody at Old Trafford Fergusson
was not chased the Mourinho was by Chelsea.
Crossing to Merseyside was never a joke.

Players will continue to be paid on results.
When one says that United is in trouble because of playing Chelsea.

Type the text below using a word processing program:

FLATS
Living in a flat means plumbing and drainage emergencies can
cause problems above and beyond those experienced by house
owners. After all, leaking water wherever it comes from wont just
cause damage to your own property. It can also cause
considerable distress to neighbors and can potentially disastrous
results I you are away for a while.
However, there are also great advantages to flats. For example, if
you are on a fifth floor or above, the views can be fantastic, and
burglars are less likely to carry your heavy furniture or electric
goods down many flights of tars or in full view of other residents
if they are brazen enough to use the lifts. This makes flats a
good choice for those who are away for a good part of their
working day.

BINARY TREES
Introduction

By nkoyoyoedward@gmail.com2015

Page 46

The term tree is used in computer science to denote a particular

type of abstract data structure. Trees contain data in structures called
nodes, which are in turn linked to other nodes in the tree. Every tree has
a primary node called a root, from which all other branch nodes in the
tree descends. In continuance with the botanical naming system, the
nodes that have no descendants are called leaf nodes.
Root node

Leaf node
Why should you use trees?
Primarily, trees are useful for organizing data in a manner that
makes it efficient to retrieve it. To illustrate this, is a picture of a
collection of data organized in a linked list structure.

11

A binary tree is made up of nodes that can have at most two offspring
(children). The root node is the node that is not a child of any other node,
and is found at the top of the tree structure. A node with no children is
referred to as a leaf node. Nodes that are not root nodes or leaf nodes are
often referred to as non-leaf nodes.

Race now in no mans land

The former Pennsylvania senators campaign got a massive does of
momentum after stunning frontrunner Mitt Romney with a clean sweep
on Tuesday night, beating him by double digits in Minnesota, a state
Romney won in 2008; stunning him in Colorado, another state in
Romneys column in 2008; and trouncing him in Missouri, one of the
countrys biggest battleground states.
I dont stand here to claim to be the conservative to Mitt Romney,
Santorum told supporters in a convention hall just west of St. Louis. I
stand here to be conservative alternative to Barack Obama. The crowd
erupted in cheers, chanting We pick Rick! , We pick Rick! Never mind
that Tuesday nights win in Missour wont actually rack up any delegates
for Santorum. The states 52 delegates willl be awarded when GOP
caucuses are held in mid-March. But he touted the win as proof that his
message is gaining traction even without the campaign checkbook or
ground operation that Romney has.
To night we had an opportunity to see what a campaign looks like when
one candidate isnt outspent 5- or 10-to-1 by negative ads, impugning their
integrity and distorting the record, Santorum said, standing with his wife.
This is a more accurate representation frankly of what the fall race would
look like.
Even before the results started coming in Tuesday evening, Santorums
advisors were setting expectations high multi-state polling day of the
year. Santorum advisors told CNN that his websites traffic was up over
the past few days, saying it was going through the roof.

HUMAN BEINGS
Most infants are guided through life by a parent or guardian and taugh
how to talk, walk, eat and generally behave. The socialization process
beigins as soon as we are born when we being to imitate people around
us, copying the shapes and noises in our environment. Many other
people and circumstances affect our appearance, attitude and behavior,
such as work, lifestyle, ethnicity, family, environment, peer group
(friends), gender, media etc.
Human beings are very different throughout the world and opinions of
what constitures a natural or nurtured human being differ enormously.
Without socialization, an individual would bear little resemblance to any
human being defined as normal by the standards of his or her society.
There have been some instances where a person has been deprived of the
assistance of a parent or any other social and human presenc. Thsee
beings are oftern referred to as feral peopol meaning wild.
An example of feral people was the Wolf-infants of Midnapore who were
reportedly found in a wolf den in a Bengal forest in 1920. The infants,
age two and eight, walked on all fours, preferred a diet of raw meat,
howled like wolves and lacked any form of speech.

STAYING VIRUS-FREE
omputer viruses are some of the biggest nightmares that
computer users all over the world face. A computer virus can
corrupt or delete important files, slow down the computer,

produce annoying pop-ups and even steal confidential information like

passwords and credit card numbers.
As you have always heard time and again, you need an antivirus program
on your PC. However, most people use the free or trail programmes which
do not catch some new viruses or they expire soon and leave the PC
vulnerable to attacks.

You need a licensed antivirus Programme which is dependable.

Always keep virus definitions up-to-date since newer viruses are

created all the time.

Regularly update all the software on your PC through the internet.

Turn on the windows Firewall and if you can afford, get a personal
firewall like Norton Firewall and Zone Alarm.

By nkoyoyoedward@gmail.com2015

Page 51

Avoid opening suspicious attachments and restrains from

forwarding chain-emails to all your contacts in your address book,
however nice those messages are.

Almost all computers viruses are made targeting Microsoft

products like Windows and Microsoft office. Therefore, to avoid
viruses, the best option is to turn open office.

Since most viruses infect mainly Microsoft word documents, saving

all your work as Rich Text Format (rtf) will protect them from being
corrupted or deleted by viruses.

Finally viruses are also spread from one PC to another through

flash disks. A write-protect lock on your disc can save you but you
can modify or add more files.

Page 52

Spreadsheet software is used to organize data in rows and columns and

performing calculations. The intersection between a row and a column is
called a cell. The figures are inserted into cells.

FEATURES OF SPREADSHEET PROGRAMS

Some of the popular features of spreadsheet programs include:

Recalculation. This helps the user to work out the rest of the worksheet
whenever work changes(available tool for what-if-analysis)
Built in functions. Allow the user to use functions to add, multiply,
make percentage, count and basic statistical functions.
Adjusting columns. Allows the user the ability to sort data accordingly
Data formatting. Helps the user to change both text and numeric data.
The fonts, sizes and styles can also be changed and the worksheet can
also be made attractive by using borders and shading.
Data validation. This is meant to ensure that correct data is entered in
the spreadsheet.
Printing. This allows the user to print the entire worksheets, proportions
of worksheets or several worksheets. E.t.c

DATABASE
A database is a collection of arranged data in a way that allows access
retrieval, and use of data.
A database is an organized collection of data. It is considered to be
organized because the data is stored in categories that are accessible in a
logical or practical manner. Data can be any thing that has significance
to the organization the system is serving.
Examples of Paper databases

Computerized databases

Telephone books

Flight information

Dictionaries

Phone inquiry systems

Receipt cards

Database systems in

Libraries

banks, Organizations like

Television Guides

water

Business directories e.t.c

Database software or database management system (DBMS), allows a

user to create, access and manage a database. Most PC databases
consist of a collection of Tables organized in rows and columns.
Files
A file is a large organized data structure that contains related data such
as record. Files are used for storing programs and data in .secondary
storage. This is extremely important since the main memory is volatile.
Records
Every entry of data is referred to as a record. A record is a group of
related items that can treat as a single group. A record is a row in a table
that contains information about a given person, product, or event. (An
individual entry in a table)
Fields

By nkoyoyoedward@gmail.com2015

Page 122

A field is a column of similar information or group of vertically arranged

data that contains similar information of the same data type. Or it can
be a column in the table that contains specific piece of information
within a record.
The table structure refers to the number of fields, field name, field
length and data types in database table.
A field name is assigned to each field to identify the different fields.
The field length is the maximum number of characters that can be
stored for data in a particular field.
The data type of a field specifies the type of data that the field can
contain.
EXAMPLES OF DATA TYPES
Text type
This contains letters, numbers or special characters.
Numeric type
This contains numbers only
Currency type
This contains dollar, pound, cents e.t.c.
Date type
This contains month, day, and year information.
Memo type

OLE object
OLE- Object Linking and Embedding. It includes objects, graphics or
other binary data.
Lookup wizard
When the value that you need exist I another table or from a list of static
values, you use the lookup wizard that helps you establish a link to the
table or define the combo box that will display the list of values on a form
or report.
Validation
This is the process of comparing the data entered with a set of pre
defined rules or values to check if data is acceptable.
