Overview
This document provides information about Oracle Applications Cloud environment resizing and instructions
on how to request a resizing.

Why Would I Need to Resize My Environment?

By default, your Oracle Applications Cloud environments are sized to support basic use of an
environment; for example, conference room pilots, familiarization, setup, and testing. This default usually
is sufficient for nonproduction environments but may not be sufficient for production environments.
Request an environment resizing when you need to resize your environment configuration to provide
optimal performance for both your planned number of users and your Oracle Applications Cloud
services.

When Should I Resize My Environment?

To ensure optimal performance, youll need to submit a resizing request for your production environment
well in advance of your planned go-live date, and subsequently as needed.
You may also need your nonproduction environment resized prior to a milestone activity such as
Conference Room Pilot (CRP) or User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

About the Environment Resizing Service

Youll use a Service Request (SR) to request your environment resizing. Review the following for
additional details regarding the resizing service:
Releases

Applies to Release 9 and above

Cloud Service Type

ERP, HCM, and Sales

Typical Frequency

For a Production Environment: Once initially, and whenever planned usage will
change significantly. You must request resizing well in advance of going into
production. The environment will be sized to support your planned peak usage.
There is no need to submit the same request for on- and off-peak periods. However,
after the initial resizing, you should submit another resizing request in the future if
you:

Need to support a larger number of concurrent users

Add employee groups
Add new Oracle Applications Cloud services
Experience slow performance where sizing is the root cause

For a Nonproduction Environment: Possibly prior to a milestone activity, such as a

Conference Room Pilot (CRP) or User Acceptance Testing (UAT). In this scenario, you
need to submit a separate SR, and provide usage information of your nonproduction
environment during the milestone event, not the usage of your production environment
after go-live. Once an environment is resized, it remains that way until a new resizing
SR is submitted. The size is not automatically reduced back to default after the
milestone event.

Advance Notice

Submit your request at least 4 weeks before the date needed, to avoid any disruption
to your implementation. Youll need to plan well in advance and request this service as
soon as possible.

Avoid the first and third weekends of the month for resizing requests
Downtime related to your environment resizing SR will be scheduled for a
weekend that is not used for regular maintenance. This means resizing cannot be
performed on the first and third weekends of a month, since these weekends are
reserved for nonproduction and production monthly updates. Please factor this
into your planning for resizing requests, and provide sufficient lead time.

Expect up to 48 hours downtime

This service requires at least 8 and up to 48 hours of downtime in the environment
that is being resized. Well contact you to verify that you can accommodate this
downtime.

What Information Does Oracle Need in Order to Accurately Resize My Environment?

Environment resizing service entitlement will ensure optimal performance and avoid implementation
schedule delays. To perform the resize, we need to understand peak usage on a daily basis as well as
any periodic high-usage events. The required information includes:

Expected user counts per product

The approximate global distribution of users, to understand when peak usage will occur during a 24hour period
The characteristics of any periodic high-usage events, such as a yearly benefits open enrollment
period and monthly batch data loads

In addition, some processes may need to be resized based on the total number of employees in the
company.
Note: We created a spreadsheet template to make it easy for you to provide this information. Download
the Cloud Resize Questionnaire spreadsheet from this MOS article (Doc ID 2015718.1) and complete it
prior to submitting your Environment Resizing SR.

How to Request an Environment Resize

Youll need to submit a separate SR for each Cloud environment that needs to be resized.
We periodically need to prioritize outstanding environment resizing requests, so it is important that you
fully describe your business justification for your request to be prioritized properly. Customers who
require resizing for an upcoming go-live will receive the highest priority.
1.

Complete the Cloud Resize Questionnaire spreadsheet. Youll need to attach it to the SR before
submitting.

2. Sign in to My Oracle Support.

3. Select Create SR from the Services Requests section or tab.

4. Enter the following information:
