The Internet provides an opportunity for individuals to interact with friends and
family members, to research any topic they can imagine, and to explore the world while
sitting in the comfort of their own home. They do not have to go far away to communicate
with their friends. Internet usage decreases the amount of social interaction individuals have
with the world outside of their computer and may be accompanied by social anxiety,
loneliness, lowered self-esteem, or chronic depression, and the psychological literatures
mixed findings on these topics have not helped clarify the issue. This study looked at the
impact that Internet usage has on an individuals psychological well-being in an effort of the
student. Most of student that spent time on the Internet was not predict of depression, social
anxiety, or social engagement in face-to-face relationships or online relationships. The type
of activity engaged in online was also not predictive of depression, social anxiety, or social
engagement in face-to-face relationships. With only a click of the mouse, the Internet allows
individuals to learn information about almost any topic they care to research, and to
communicate.
Consumers take time to learn how to use any new technology, so the way people
are using the Internet changes overtime. New consumers are continually discovering the
Internet, so the mix of skills using by the people and demands among users is changing.
Also, in order for the Internet to become useful to ordinary consumers, complementary
innovations had to take place, such as in the area of business models. This innovation
has been occurring at a great pace, so that now there are many businesses designed to
sell products, services, or information that people want to buy or access online.
There are some of the benefit using the internet among the student. First, student
can use internet to communicate with their friends. They do not have to spend to much
money to communicate with their friends. Besides that internet also help student to
develop their computer skills. . It can also help students with their writing skills. In
some forms, the Internet can help students with critical thinking skills. Students are
faced with more information than they could ever use or need. This requires them to sort
through the information and decide what is most important and relevant. With e-mail,
students can have contact with other students around the world studying the same things
they are. The Internet can be a huge source for student trying to look up information for
a college project or do homework. It also eliminates barriers for handicapped students
who may have trouble getting to a library. It allows all students to access information
with just one click. The Internet allows students to read the latest news of a certain
subject they are studying. If they are studying Indian politics they can do a news search
and find out what is happening in the world of politics at that very moment. This can
help them connect what they are learning to the real world. It can also keep them
interested in a subject. Students may have longer attention spans with technology than
In the former life, people have to subscribe a media, such as newspaper, tabloid, and
magazine to get the most update information around the world. During the big advance of
technology, people are able to access knowledge and information freely and easily
through a media that called internet. Through the internet, people not only get the
information but they are also able to do their daily activities using such helpful thing.
Student did not have to buy newspaper to get to know about what happen all around
them. They can read news on the internet. Hence student can get information more easily
by using internet then before. Nowadays, Internet is not only a secondary need, for some
people internet becomes the main need of their daily life.
Students or teenagers now are able to browse the internet freely, whether in their home or
in the internet cafe. Students are fast learner. They can even master the internet literary
only by watching their friend or adult browsing the internet. Another advantage of
internet on students is it can give positive effect on physical development of student.
People may not see the impact of internet to the physical development. However, internet
usages give a positive impact to the physical development. According to the knowledge
of muscular development and motor control skill, the use of internet that demands the
keyboard and mouse usage will naturally enhance the childs eye-hand coordination and
motor skill. So it will encourages self development among students. Besides it also give
positive effect cognitive development.
Students who use the Internet show gains in cognitive abilities such as memory, logical
problem solving, critical thinking, concentration, abstraction and comprehension. The
Internet exposes students to information to improve the quality of learning that they can
transform into knowledge. Through the use of the Internet, studentss language and
literacy development is often promoted, allowing for greater gains in verbal and
nonverbal skills. Indirectly student can enrich their vocabulary. In addition internet also
can give positive impact on social development. Internet cannot and should not replace
human interaction or relationships, nor take the place of activities such as sharing verbal
conversations with our children or reading together. However, internet allows children to
socialize with other children through the use of email, chat rooms, and instant messaging,
increasing the development of communication and social skills.

The Internet has provided much positive impact on people throughout the world for the
last ten years. It can be informative, convenient, resourceful and fun. However, the
Internet can also offer harmful influence on human such as pornography, security and
privacy. There is another significant issue involved peoples life. These days, there are
many people spending too much time on the Internet while they may not realize
themselves whether or not it is too much. Therefore, this can give a bad effect to the
students. Suler (1999) points out that Addictions to the internet are not actually defined
very clearly. This is because it can be unhealthy or even healthy and also a combination
of both. It is clear that when people are satisfied by some activities such as hobbies, they
would like to spend their times on these activities as much as possible. Some of internet
users cant control themselves when they should use the internet and when they do not
have to use. Another negative effect of internet on students is they can be the victim of
online games. Students usually like to imitate what they see, so the Internet as medium
can bring about violence to students as same as movies and television programs. It can be
seen that Internet games can be a cause of violence because these games could invite
players to engage with the action, disengage the critical faculties and take pleasure in the
substitute experiences of gratuitous violence. According to Olivier (2000), Internet games
send the following false messages to the players. The computer industry becomes more
sophisticated in its productions. It can do the games more realistic version of events.
Students will potentially copy what they play in the online game into their life.
For example, Counter Strikes, for instead, is embedded in violence. The challenge of
the game is for players to identify with a screen character and to fight and win another in
the exercise of violent action. In the game, all the character is violent. We can see
internet also give detrimental effect on student. Internet can prevent students from doing
their homework or assigned task by their own. Thanks to internet, students can obtain the
information they need with a great ease by simply clicking the button. However, this
great accessibility to any kind of information can be abused. For instance, when students
are given an assignment, what many of them do is just go on the websites or the blogs
where the seemingly needed information is posted, and drag, copy and paste it without
looking the material thoroughly later. Some students even just download the material

which someone else has already done and submit it as if it were their work.
