EDUCATOR PREPARATION UPDATE

APRIL 15, 2016

Delaware
Overarching Goal:
Ensure aspiring educators are day one
ready, particularly for our students who
need them the most.

DE Strategies
Ensure novice educators are day one ready
- Require Performance Assessment to demonstrate readiness
to teach
- Strengthen/expand year-long residencies
Use data to determine program effectiveness
- Use data to differentiate programs by performance level, with
clear consequences for those programs not meeting Delaware
standards or performance expectations and opportunities to
recognize programs with exemplary performance.
Seed Innovation
- Use resources for innovation grants to strengthen K-12/EPP
partnerships, improve clinical practice, etc.
