EXPLANATION ABOUT PIPING PAINTING

Responding about Piping Painting work, we would like to explained as bellow


1. About technical application of painting, mixing and other regarding to
quality control, we will conduct monitoring more rigorous. Such us a
mistake of mixing and a painting too thin.
2. About a Bitumen protection, as for as we know and common in Indonesian
market of pipe, a protection which apply in the raw material by fabricated
are:
a. Vernis Layer
b. HDPE (Hight Density Polyethyline) layer
c. Galvanis (Hot/Coll) layer
Vernis Layer, is a layer that is a temporary protection and usually can be
removed easily even those by using simply toolls such us a power toll
cleaning (wire brush). As per fotos below wich the wire brushing of the
heating coil pipe which is protected by vernis, we can see the result is
near white. Choosing of that material usually for construction will be done
to protect the corrosion coating, after fabrication. (Painting or Galvanize)
HDPE and GALVANIZE LAYER, is a more permanent coating and this
coating will be done by the manufacturer if there is an order. As the
purpose of the application, it is no longer in need additional protection
such as paint bleak. The application of paint on the surface are usually just
for decoration, especially for HDPE layer to eliminate it must use certain
chemicals and cleaners equipmnt cant use even if using and sand
blasting. (it is posible but to hart)
Bitument Layer, for this term on the pipe, we just know. The problem is
whether this layer into the category of temporary protection or permanent
protection. If this layer enter as permanent protection, should not need to
remove and if the paint coating is needed more, of course, can be applied
directly on the surface. Throughout the kind of paint they use is in
accordance with the specifications. Meanwhile, when included in Category
temporary protection should be easy to clean despite using paper pads.
Report on field conditions, based on team reports in the field, that to
remove the layer is very difficult and even almost impossible by using wire
Brrus to achieve a near white condition as in the photos. So we feel the
need to clarify, whether the layer, is included in Category of permanent
coating. If true, should not need to remove.

Adhesiveness test, subject is more important to find a way out of this problem is, we
do testing on the results of painting, which is done without having to remove the layer
of bhitumen. From the results of the painting we did a test on adhesiveness, it can
be done and the usual in doing is to install a "lack-band" on the surface of the paint

and then cut into pieces such that the thickness of the layer of paint, then we remove
the "lack-band" quickly. If the paint is not peeling, it can be sure that the adhesiveness
is good. Second we scratch the surface of the paint with a knife and then we do
stripping, if peeling the vine if not more than 50 mm it can be sure that the paint
adhesiveness is good.
Between peeling and scratching, the damage or failure to perform of
painting usually can be viewed from two things, namely Exfoliation and
scratching.
Exfoliation is a phenomenon that is caused by the failure of the paint that
does not stick to an object in the paint, this is more caused the application
error (procedure) or the type of paint that is incompatible with the object.
Such damage cant be improved unless the repainting should be done with
the procedure and the choice of the correct type of paint.
Scratching is damage caused by the wrong treatment (impact or scratches
from other objects, handling) and this usually cant be avoided, especially
on projects that are open. This damage can be fixed by reference to the
paint repair procedures, and local repair only the damaged section only.
And this damage is not serious.

By understand the things above, it is necessary for us to be together in


order to define the part where the damage occurred. For then we take the
right step solution. Before we get stuck in a real solution is not necessary.
