HEALTH WAY - VITAMIN C

1. Problem
2. Solution - Product
The aim of vitamin supplements, is to provide the nutrients that cannot be
consumed in sufficient quantities. Supplements are available in various doses and
different combinations. However, only a certain amount of each nutrient for our
body to function properly you need, so higher amounts need not be necessarily
better. In high doses, some substances can have adverse effects and become
harmful.
Supplements do not replace a healthy and balanced diet. A diet that includes plenty
of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, adequate intake of protein and healthy fats,
usually provides all the nutrients needed for good health. Approximately 85% of the
micronutrients we require are lost when we eat food or, well, when processed to be
consumed by us. Doctors recognize vitamins, minerals and other nutrients
contained in supplements as a means to balance the nutritional deficiencies, and
according to recent research, they also may be effective in preventing
degenerative diseases.
We decide to create a new way to the vitamin supplements with vegetable and
fruits peels that in some of the common fruits carry higher concentration of antioxidants such as anthocyanin pigments, tannins, catechinsetc than in their flesh
(pulp). Is rich source of rough dietary fibers, also known as NSP (non-soluble
polysaccharides), such as hemi-cellulose, pectin, tannins, gumetc. These
compounds add bulkiness to the food, and help prevent constipation by reducing
gastro-intestinal transit time; low in calories, sugar, and fats; and is free from
cholesterol. Again, it adds to the bulk of the food and helps cut down overall calorie
intake.
Based on this research, our problem solution is to elaborate a vitamin supplement
(product), taking into account the sustainable development process.

Specific risks for specific population groups
Although a role in the health of some people, not all supplements are useful for
everyone. In fact, for some people, it is not advisable to take certain supplements,

especially in high doses. Some studies suggest that multivitamin supplements can
help increase the risk of excessive intake of nutrients, and it has been suggested
that these products are formulated with greater consideration for micronutrient
intake foods. Consumers should pay special attention to read the label and check
that a supplement is right for them.

Benefits of Vitamin C

Ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, is a potent antioxidant with increasingly diverse

uses in health promotion and disease prevention.

Every step in the progression of atherosclerosis can benefit from the

antioxidant power of vitamin C, from preventing endothelial dysfunction and
altering lipid profiles and coagulation factors to preventing blood vessel changes
that can lead to strokes and other vascular catastrophes.

Vitamin C supplements reduce cellular DNA damage that is the vital first
step in cancer initiation and also reduce the inflammatory changes that allow a
malignant cell to grow into a dangerous tumor.

Vitamin C supplements enhance the health-promoting effects of exercise

and reduce exercise-induced oxidative damage.

Vitamin C supplements also dramatically combat the oxidative damage

caused by smoking and exposure to tobacco smoke.

In respiratory conditions, vitamin C supplements help avert or shorten the

duration of common colds and may mitigate the risk of serious respiratory
conditions like asthma.

Vitamin C supplements can speed the clearance of the stomach diseasecausing bacterium Helicobacter pylori and cut the risk of gastric cancer it causes.
