Welcome
Welcome and thank you for joining us for May Day 2010 — to cry out to God
for our nation in distress.
Because of the choices we have made, our nation is in its most critical moral crisis in history. Our
desperate times call for desperate prayer — focused on the God of our founders — and not our
political parties, denominational or doctrinal differences.

As we gather at the Lincoln Memorial today, thanks to the American Family Association’s web
streaming, people, groups, and churches across the country join with us — even churches in Alaska
have opened their doors at 2:10 a.m. to unite with us in prayer! And with the entire event
broadcast live on GOD TV, up to 500 million others are joining us in prayer from around the world!
This event is not about numbers. God doesn’t need a majority to reach out His hand of rescue.
May Day isn’t designed to impress the media or the leaders in Washington. Everything we do today
is aimed at one thing — pleasing God and obeying His word by humbling ourselves, praying,
seeking His face, and turning from our wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Today you won’t be hearing speeches. In this solemn assembly we will repent, remember, and renew our covenant with God as we
pray in Jesus’ name. And as God looks down on us today, it is our prayer that out of His great love and mercy, He will relent from the
judgment we deserve.

“But He took note of their distress when He heard their cry; for their sake He remembered His covenant and out of His great love He
relented.” — Psalm 106:44, 45
Please keep your focus wholeheartedly on God, because if He hears our cry, remembers His covenant, and relents from the judgment
our sins deserve, this historic day — May Day — will be remembered as the day repentance gave birth to rescue and revival.

God bless you and may God bless America once again,

Janet & David Porter

P.S. Many thanks to those who’ve been praying for my father who was diagnosed with cancer during the May Day
preparations. I am grateful that our God is able to save lives as He can save nations. Please continue praying for both!

Our May Day Theme Verses

“But He took note of their distress
when He heard their cry;
for their sake He remembered His covenant
and out of His great love He relented.” -- Psalm 106:44, 45

Words from President Abraham Lincoln

“...We have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in
peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined,
in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some
superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have
become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too
proud to pray to the God that made us! …It behooves us then to humble ourselves
before the offended Power, to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and
forgiveness.” — from a proclamation appointing a National Fast Day that he issued in Washington
D.C. on March 30, 1863 to be held exactly one month later on April 30th.

Christian Manifesto
Christian Manifesto for the United States of America
Preamble
In just over two hundred years, the United States has become the greatest civilization in history. As the Body of Christ, we acknowl-
edge that all of our blessings come from God, and further affirm, that for our nation to remain the leader of the free world in the 21st
century, we must return to our Biblical roots. Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV) – “This is what the LORD says: Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls…”.

America in the 21st century has created far more wealth than any other nation in recorded history, amounting to over 30% of the globe’s
Gross Domestic Product in recent years, with less than 5% of the world’s population. As Christians, we recognize and affirm that it
was the God of the Bible that enabled us to create and amass such incredible fortunes. We also affirm and declare that without His
ongoing blessing, our nation and the world face great peril.

God gave the nation of Israel Deuteronomy chapter 8 prior to entering the promised land. He told them that he was about to abundantly
bless everything they set their hands to, but with the warning that once their fields and flocks and families had been greatly blessed, not
to forget about the Lord and think “…my power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth” Deuteronomy 8:17 (NIV).
They were to remember that the Lord gave them the power to create wealth. As the Body of Christ, we reaffirm that our blessings come
from God and we advocate a return to what our Founding Fathers believed, a return to Biblical values. These include:

Government :
Our Founding Fathers believed in limited government. They understood that man has a sin nature and the potential for corruption.
They understood that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” (Lord Acton). Thus, they created a system of checks
and balances among separated powers. Additionally, our government was designed as a Republic, ensuring that the government was
subject to the will of the people. “Government of the people, by the people and for the people.”

In addition, our Founders understood that the rule of law requires magistrates, legislators, and all members of government be subject to
the law just as are ordinary citizens. Furthermore, these laws were based on the unchanging, eternal principals of God’s Word that do
not fluctuate over time. The separation of powers is based upon: Isaiah 33:22 (NIV) – “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our
lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us”.

Economics:
Our Founding Fathers believed in the property rights of individuals and organizations, as well as the right to free trade (i.e., life, liberty
and the pursuit of happiness). We reaffirm that these rights come from God (not government) and advocate a return to the free market
system. We further recognize that not only is socialism not Biblical, but that it has failed every time it has been tried throughout
history. Although we are to care for the poor and needy, we must also realize that God created a work ethic to fuel our economic
system, as demonstrated in 2nd Thessalonians 3:10 (NIV) – “…if anyone refuses to work, neither let him eat”.

Human Life:
Our Founders understood the sanctity of human life and that certain rights were “inalienable”, given by our Creator, and therefore these
rights cannot be impinged upon, circumvented, or taken away by government. We call for the restoration of legal protection of all
human beings from conception until natural death. Psalm 139:13, 16 (NIV) – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together
in my mother's womb… All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be”.

National Sovereignty:
Given that it is God that raises up nations and tears them down, we believe in national sovereignty. We reject any and all attempts to
impose a supra-national (global) system upon our citizens, our government, our society and our heirs. Psalm 22:28 (NIV) – “For
dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations”.

Abundant resources:
The God of the Bible is a God of abundance not a God of lack. We affirm that the earth has sufficient resources to provide for tens of
billions if not hundreds of billions of people. There are untold depths of natural resources available. While we may not currently have
the technology to utilize them, a creative God can give them to us.

The God who created billions of stars in the universe and multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed a multitude, can and will provide
for the people on this planet. Psalm 24:1 (NIV) – “The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it...”.
Christian Manifesto
Stewardship :
As stewards of the earth we should neither abuse nor waste the earth’s natural resources, but at the same time we should realize that
these resources were placed here by our Creator, and His intent was that we use them for our supply and good. God stated in Genesis
to “take dominion over the animals and this planet” -- mankind should not be considered a blight or disease upon the face of the earth.
Psalm 8:6 (NIV) – “You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet”.

Marriage/Sexuality :
We affirm that God’s standard is one man, one woman, one nuclear family. While we extend grace to all, we must establish that this is
God’s designed method to express our sexuality and produce progeny. Hebrews 13:4 (NIV) – “Let marriage be held in honor among
all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled”.

Wealth :
As stated previously, it is God that gives us the power to gain wealth, but wealth must be stewarded. Individuals and corporations have
the right to private property, and are free to do what they will with that property. Yet, God’s word teaches that wealth is not to be
hoarded to the detriment of the owner, but admonishes us to be generous to others for the betterment of mankind. Since we are not
able to take our wealth with us once we depart this life, we must train the next generation to handle wealth properly. Matthew 25:29
(NIV) – “For to everyone who has shall more be given and he shall have an abundance…”. Proverbs 13:22 (NIV) — “A good man
leaves an inheritance for his children’s children…”

God did not tell us to set up programs to automatically transfer wealth to the poor. Rather His word instructs us to give voluntarily. 2
Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) – “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for
God loves a cheerful giver”. God also instructs us to Leviticus 19:18 (NIV) – “… love your neighbor as yourself”.

Freedom:
There is no question that freedom produces prosperity over the long-run. Our Founding Fathers knew and understood this principle
well. Studies demonstrate that the more free a nation is, the more entrepreneurial its citizens become and the greater the abundance
produced.

However, our freedom does not produce license to do whatever we want, as we must respect the human and property rights of others.
Galatians 5:1 (NIV) – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by
a yoke of slavery.
Children:
We recognize that children “are a blessing from the Lord”. In the words of Adam Smith, perhaps the greatest of all economists,
“Prosperity is associated with growing populations, depression with declining populations…”. Therefore we encourage the birth of
children in marriage, large families, and adoption. Psalm 127:3 (NIV) – “Behold children are a gift of the Lord; the Fruit of the womb
is a reward”.

We also recognize the rights and responsibilities of child rearing belongs to the parents. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) - “Train up a child in
the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

We, do hereby acknowledge on this day, May 1, 2010, that while our Founding Fathers were not perfect men, they set up a
system of government which is the greatest ever devised by men, and that the primary basis upon which government statutes
were based was the Bible. We also affirm, declare and pledge as did our Founding Fathers, our “lives, liberty and sacred
honor” to defend these standards. This means that any foreign power which will try to usurp these freedoms and rights must and
will be repelled. This means that any domestic threat must be challenged and defeated politically if our nation is to retain its place as
leader of the free world.

John Winthrop (one of the first pilgrim settlers) made the statement that, (much like Israel of old) God was calling America to be “a
light to the nations” and a “city set on a hill”.

Over the last 100 years, our nation has sacrificed its own multiple times for the liberty of others. We have stopped the despotism of
Nazism, Communism, and many other “ism’s” which would seek to put the human race into abject bondage. It is with this degree of
fervency that we must tackle present challenges facing the United States, lest we lose our place in history.

Signed this day May 1, 2010.

The Most Important Thing
QUESTION: If Jesus were to say to you, “Why should I let you into heaven?” What would you say?
ANSWER: Being a “good person” won’t get you there, since the Bible says, “We are all infected and impure
with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6 NLT). Belief in
God isn’t enough — even the devil believes in God, and he’s not going to heaven. Being pro-life or Republican
won’t get you in. To be assured of your Salvation, each of us must:

• Recognize that you’re a sinner. “There is no one righteous, not even one.” (Romans 3:10). We can’t
make excuses or blame others or our circumstances for our actions, “for all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).
• Recognize that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. “But God demonstrated his own love for us
in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) “For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).
• Repent of your sins. Repent means to change direction. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that
your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord” (Acts 3:19). God commands
us to repent and turn away from things that displease Him.
• Receive Jesus as your Savior. Don’t try to clean up your life first! Come to Jesus just as you
are and allow Him to change your life. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name “ (John 1:12). Jesus said, “All that the Father gives me will
come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away” (John 6:37).
Pray: “Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and am in need of forgiveness. I know that You died on the
cross to give me that forgiveness. I accept the ultimate gift You gave me to pay the penalty for my sins. I invite
You to be my Savior and the Lord of my life. I trust You and fill follow Your way all the days of my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

It has been exciting to see Americans take a stand for the principles that make
America free and great!
While Tea Parties and Town Halls are vitally important, these excellent efforts
alone cannot reclaim America.

To reclaim America, it will take consistent united prayer and

work of citizens like you and me, city-by-city, across the USA.
Will you join us in this ongoing work?
Samuel Adams said, “It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate,
tireless minority, keen to set brush fires in men’s minds.” Will we become that
mad (irate), busy (tireless) minority willing to pray and work together, beginning
locally, to protect life, marriage, and America’s Biblical foundation?
