I am doing a biography about Helen Keller written by George Sullivan. Helen Keller was
born on June 27, 1880 and died on June 1, 1968.When she was born she could see and hear, but
lost these abilities when she was eighteen months old. When she went blind and deaf, few people
believed there was hope for her. Helen proved that the deaf and blind can learn the things they
want to do. She even got to met every president from Grover Cleveland to John Kennedy!

Helen Kellers characteristics are loving, joyful, peaceful, kind, and gentle. Helen Keller
is important because she has helped blind and deaf people all over the world. Helen raised
money for the American Foundation for the Blind. She visited many countries and wrote many
books about her life. Helen was the first person who was deaf and blind to graduate from
college.
Helen spent her whole life with courage and was full of hope. She became the first deaf
and blind person who was able to write a book. Anne Sullivan helped her to act like other people.
In April 1930, Helen, Anne, and Polly Thompson traveled for the first time, visiting Scotland,
Ireland, and England for over six months. This trip was only the beginning of Helen's travels, she
would eventually visit 39 countries!
Helen Keller is remembered by building status of her, writing books, and post stamps of
her. When Helen failed to do something she would never ever give up. Helen is known for her
hope and courage. If everyone was like her they will live a sad and happy life. One of Helens
best quote is Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and
you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.

The story of Helen Keller began when she was born as a healthy child in Tuscumbia, AL.
When Helen was still a baby she became sick with meningitis. The illness caused her to lose her

sight and hearing. Helen's parents knew that Helen needed lots of help. They hired a tutor to help
her, and she was named Anne Sullivan.
Anne first taught Helen how to spell words in sign language. Her first signs were "water"
and "doll". Anne started to love Helen, and over the years she taught Helen how to read and write
in Braille, it is a language for the blind. Anne and Helen moved to New York so Helen could go
to a school for the blind. A few years later she also went to a school for the deaf.
With Anne's help, Helen was able to go to Radcliffe College. Helen was the first blind and deaf
person to graduate from college. She had also begun writing and publishing books. Helen got to met
many people after her graduation. People everywhere were impressed with her work, and she was also
asked to speak at many important events!
Helen began traveling as far away as Japan. She became close to the people, and they even
presented her with a special dog as a gift, she also loves dogs very much. Helen visited over 35 different
countries. She even got many governments opening schools for the blind and deaf. Helen's hometown of
Tuscumbia, AL, made her childhood home, Ivy Green, a treasure in her honor.

The story of Helen Keller ended when Helen suffered a stroke and retired from normal life.
After the retirement she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Lyndon
Johnson. This reward was the best reward a citizen can ever receive. When she died many people
remember her because of her hope. After she died people all over the world continued her work.
Helen Keller learned that you should keep on going no matter what comes next. She also
learned that no matter what happens, your family will still support you. Helen is a good person
because she gives some of her money to the blind and deaf people. She also does not want America
to have a war. Today in America Helen Keller is remembered by her Story of my Life book.
I like this book because Helen shows me that there is nothing to be afraid of. She also shows
me that doing something bad can only make things worse. I would recommend this book because it
helps us see that we should try. You should also read and see how caring she is. Helen has also been
visiting all the hurt people.
I learned that it is not all about being famous but about giving, caring, and loving. Helen is a
model for telling us that you will need to have someone always on your side. Helen also gets backup
because she prays to God. Since Helen Keller prays, she will never be alone. This is my best story
because Helen teaches me the fruit of the spirit.
