Patos
Items: Charred Newt (2), Potion (2), Hi Potion (2), Hi Magic, Revive, Goddess Tear, Life
Seed, Dagger, Res Ring, Dragon Egg
At the beginning of the game, you watch the arrival of Seena, a woman adventurer of
very unusual behaviour. When you can control Wain, search the whole village,
especially Lamika's house, the fountain and the shop (use the backdoor). Then go out
and kill some Red Jellies if you want. When you return to the village (or pass to the
left of the sign at the entrance), suddenly an evil force will attack from the nearby
Tower of Death. Lamika's house is struck by lightning and catches fire.

Wain doesn't hesitate to save Lamika, but then he collapses. Fortunately Seena takes
care of him. The next morning both decide to go on an adventure and find out what's
happening.

Patos Cave
Items: Wake Ring, Goddess Tear, Magic Pot, Potion, Boomerang, Jet Ring, Miracle,
Antidote
To the right there is a little training dungeon. Old man Ibla explains you the battle
mechanics and fighting skills like the Wave attack. Listen carefully and be sure to
open all chests - you won't come here a second time. When you are finished, you can
go back to Patos and save, or head straight to the Tower of Death.

Tower of Death (1)

Floors: 10 (you can only access 5 at this point)
Ancient Text (1-5): Drive, Head Crush, First Aid, Bolt Attack
Items: BoltBoomer, Miracle
When you enter the tower, Ibla comes after you. He gives you "Drive", your first
Ancient Text, and explains you the use of Spiritual Force.

This time you can only go to 5F, where you meet GADES, the Sinistral of Destruction.
He is far too strong for you (although it's theoretically possible to beat him if you
have many Hi Bombs and a good bit of luck - you'll get the Gades Bracelet if you do).
So leave the tower and head west, straight through Laphoon Cave, to Albano. (You
can also go north to Majari and do some shopping if you want.)

Albano
Items: Potion, Goddess Tear, Croquette, Mind Seed, Skill Seed, Wisdom Seed,
Miracle(3), Hi Bomb, Awake, Sonic Ring

To the north is the house of Fugo, a rich guy. When you go near it, you will watch Fugo
chasing a thief who escapes. Enter the house, talk to Fugo (and everyone else, of
course) and agree to find the chief. He has run to Slani (or: Sulani) Cave.

Slani Cave
Floors: 12 (you can access 5 at this point)
Ancient Text (B1-B5): Concentrate , Cooking, Holy Attack
Items: Gold 100, Revive, Goddess Tear, Bomb

Go southwest and enter the cave. In B5 you find Dei, the Master Thief. But he
escapes while Wain and Seena are quarreling, so you can't do anything but leave the
cave. In Albano you here a rumor that the thief is hiding in Majari, so head north.

Majari
Items:Charred Newt, Hi Potion, X-potion, Magic Pot, Antidote(2), Angry Ring, Life
Seed, Speed Seed, Body Seed, Hi Bomb
No sign of the thief - but when you try to leave the village, a monster named
BELUMIE attacks. Suddenly Dei shows up and helps you to defeat it.

Unfortunately the monster was Fugo's pet. Fugo shows up very angry and arrests Dei.
His friend Kobin asks you to save him. He gives you the Dash Attack.

Fugo's Basement
Floors: 7
Ancient Text: Lock On, Dash Attack, Instinct
Items: Bug Crush, Miracle, Gold 100, X-Potion, Hi Magic, X-Magic, Life Seed, Leather
Shld, Trick Ring
Return to Albano and check the bookshelves in Fugo's mansion. You will find a secret
door that leads to a dungeon. In B7 you have to fight BELAMIE to save Dei, who joins
your party.

When you exit the mansion, GADES appears and destroys Fugo's new house. You still
can't defeat him. (If you manage to beat him nevertheless, you'll get the Gades
Blade.)
Now you can ask Gantz, the architect, to rebuild Lamika's house, but he will need a
certain wood which you can't get yet (see Sidequests). You can also earn a Dragon
Egg if you save Lurissa's father in Laphon Cave. When you're finished here, go
northwest, straight through Broffo Cave, to the port town Siantao. You can visit Leong
Temple first (later it'll be destroyed).

Leong
Items: Miracle, Croquette, Mind Seed, Power Seed, FireBoomer, ConfuPowder, Sanity
Ring

Siantao
Items: Hi Potion, X-Potion, X-Magic (2), Goddess Tear, Antidote, Small Boomer, XBomb (2), Speed Seed, Wisdom Seed, Skill Seed, Mind Seed, Power Seed, Poison Ring

When you go behind the house to the east of the church, you'll see the Garland Gang
threaten a girl. Before you can help her, Aima, a female karate fighter appears and
they flee. But she rushes off to Leong shrine when she hears that it's on fire. Follow
her north. You find out that the shrine is destroyed and Aima's master has been
kidnapped. Aima joins your party, and they head west, over the bridge, to the Gang's
Hideout.

Gang's Hideout
Floors: 7
Ancient Text: Blind, Accurate, Seal Palm, Assassinate
Items: Charred Newt, Revive (2), Life Seed, Fake Ring, Boomerang
Defeat the guards at the entrance and descend into the cave. At B7 you will fight the
GARLAND BOSS. Ignore his guards and concentrate all your attacks on him. With the
prison key you can free Aima's master.

When you return to Siantao, Gades has destroyed the town. The master dies in the
attempt to defeat him. He gives Aima the Energy Punch. Now head back to the Tower
of Death for the final confrontation with Gades.

Tower of Death (2)

Floors: 10
Ancient Text (6-10): Silhouette, Pause Palm, Persuade, Fire Attack
Items: Coldrapier
This time, you can go all the way up to 10F and defeat GADES (at last!). Back in
Siantao, the town is still in ruins, but you can shop and rest in the inn. Now take the
ship and leave to Lidal continent.

Lidal Continent
Caan
Items: Potion, Antidote, Miracle, Body Seed, Undead Ring, IceBoomer, DeathPowder,
Dragon Fang, Mind Seed

You arrive at the port town of Caan. There is not much to do, so exit to the north.
Suddenly an old knight appears and says something about saving a princess. Seena

wants to hold him back because he is badly hurt, but Wain lets him go. After some
arguing the party decides to follow him. Go to the Deserted Lighthouse in the north.
(Note: If you enter the Item Shop through the back door, you can buy some very rare
items.)

Deserted Lighthouse
Floors: 11
Ancient Text: F. Barrier, Dark Sword, Scatter Hit, Cure
Items: Ghost Ring, Revive, X-Magic
At 6F you see Randolph, the old knight, being attacked by the TOWER SNAKE. While
Seena takes care of him, the others defeat the monster. Randolph joins your party.

At the top of the tower, you find Princess Melphis fighting the DEVIL GROME. (She
sure isn't the ordinary type of captured, helpless princess :-) Of course you help her.
After the battle she also joins.
Melphis has been driven out of Alstadt, her kingdom, by the evil minister Deraf. She
wants to return and find out what's going on, so head southeast, straight through
Tomis Cave, to the village of Tomis.

Tomis
Items: Potion, X-Potion, Magic Pot, Revive, Wisdom Seed, Small Boomer, Lucky
Earring, Sanity Ring
The people tell you that all ships are attacked by pirates. Should there be a
connection to the mysterious events in Alstadt Kingdom? You buy a ferry ticket, take
a boat trip and are attacked soon enough. After Aima takes care of the first pirates,
you can enter their ship.

Pirates' Ship
Floors: 5
Ancient Text: Charge, DoubleKick, Ice Attack, Split Attk

Items: Bolt Boomer, Life Seed, Power Seed, Skill Seed, Wisdom Seed, Chill Ring,
Dragon Fang
Check out your own ship first - there is a Healing point. Then descend into the Pirates'
ship.
After you have slept in one of the beds at B5 and saved your game, you have to
defeat the PIRATES HEAD. The two pirates assisting him run away after each round,
so concentrate all your attacks on the boss. When you want to return to your own
ship, Deckard, the noble pirate, shows up. He mistakes you for pirates and attacks
you, but you will return to Tomis safely.

Apparently you have to find the pirate's headquarter. Keit, the boy in the ticket office,
says that you can lead you there, so take another trip on the ferry and go to Pirate's
Island.

Pirates' Hideout
Floors: 15
Ancient Text: Charge, DoubleKick, Ice Attack, Split Attk
Items: Potion, Hi Potion, X-Potion (2), Goddess Tear (2), Speed Seed, Wisdom Seed,
Giant Ring, Wizard Ring, Miracle, Wing Ring, Skill Seed, Smart Ring, Dragon Egg

You leave Keit behind to guard the boat and descend into the dungeon. At B10 you
see three treasure chests, but when you try to reach them, you fall into a trap. The
pirate boss shows up, takes Melphis with him and lets the DEVIL ALLIGATOR loose on

you. After you defeat it (it's a rather weak boss), enter the cage, where you will find a
teleporter that carries you to the chests you couldn't reach before.
Proceed to B15 where you'll fight the PIRATE BOSS. Use the same strategy as for the
Pirate Head. When you return to your boat, you'll find out that he has beaten down
Keit and escaped. Of course you take up the pursuit. Deckard shows up again, and
this time he helps you. You have to fight another boss, the BIG SQUIDO. Finally you
can return to Tomis.

(Note: If you want to visit Pirate's Island later in the game, you must arrive by ship,
not flying.)

Copley Forest
Sections: 8
Ancient Text: TyphoonToss, Stealth Hit
Items: Good Wood
To reach your next goal, the Tower of Illusion, you have to cross Copley Forest. After a
while Seena notices that you apparently go around in circles. After an argument with
Wain, she runs away. You find her some screens ahead, together with a monster. This
isn't an enemy, but Mousse, your next party member.

In the last screen there is a big tree standing alone. Check it to find the Good Wood
(see Sidequests).

When you exit the forest, you can go directly to the tower, but I recommend to head
north to the village of Cobe. There you can rest, buy new equipment and learn some
magic.
From this point on, you can visit Maqurine in Copley Forest and try her sidequest (see
Sidequests). It's a good chance to raise your levels, since you'll have to fight some
difficult bosses very soon.

Cobe
Items: Charred Newt, X-Magic, Revive, Silent Powder, Power Seed, Speed Seed, Weird
Ring, Wizard Ring

Tower of Illusion (1)

Floors: 15 (you can access 10 at this point)
Ancient Text (1-10): R.Blade, Vital Aim, Cure Force
Items: Life Seed, Absorber, Sanity Ring

At 10F you'll find a huge cannon and have to fight GENERAL DOHL. After you defeat
him, he tells you that thr Ultra Weapon has already been transferred to the Castle.
Head to Alstadt Kingdon in the west (beyond the bridge). When you notice that you
can't enter, Melphis suggests to sneak in from the sea.
Return to Cobe and try to find a boat. Nicky (the boy at the port) agrees to take you
to the castle. At sea you are attacked, but finally Deckard helps you to defeat the
BATTLESHIP. He joins your party at last.

Alstadt Dungeon / Alstadt Kingdom

Floors: 11
Ancient Text: Grounder, FalconDance
Items: Potion, Hi-Potion, Big Boomer, Boltboomer, Hi Bomb, X-Bomb (2), Revive,
Goddess Tear (2), Miracle (2), Life Seed, Wisdom Seed, Mind Seed (2), Skill Seed,
Protect Ring, Sanity Ring, Witch Ring, Crown

You have to sneak in through the dungeon. At the entrance you'll find a guard who
sells weapons and a priest who can heal you and save your game. Make your way up
to the top, search the castle (you can sleep in Melphis' bed) and fight DERAF. When
he escapes, follow him and defeat the ULTRA WEAPON. Then you'll witness the
appearance of Amon, the sinistral of Chaos, who turned Deraf evil and sowed distrust
among the people. He'll wait for you in the Tower of Illusion.

Tower of Illusion (2)

Floors: 15
Ancient Text (11-15): Holy Sword, FinalDance, Jump Slash

Go up to 15F and confront AMON. He can confuse you with his Spiritual Force of
Chaos, so make sure to equip Sanity rings! After he is defeated, head back to Alstadt
Kingdom. You'll find out some interesting facts about Deckard's past, and from now
on you have your own ship!
Sail to the east. If you want to, you can challenge the Ancient Cave now (it's located
between Lidal and Fante continent). You can also explore Fante continent (in Tanba or
Mologoro you can buy very strong, but expensive equipment). But your next goal is
Elcorano, the first town you see when you reach Fante continent.

Fante Continent

Elcorano
Items: CharredNewt, GoddessTear, Miracle, Antidote, X-Magic (3), Power Seed,
Dragon Ring
The people of Elcorano are frightened because a dragon has appeared in Mistra Cave.
A group of soldiers is going to check it out, led by Conas who is in love with a girl
named Karina. Your party decides to follow them.

Mistra Cave
Floors: 10 Ancient Text: Speed Attk, Bolt Sword, Force Shot
Items: X-Magic, Miracle, DestBlade

At B10 of Mistra Cave you have to fight the ANCIENT DRAGON (B). Conas assists you,
but you can't control him. Head back to Elcorano.

Just as Conas wants to propose to Karina, a dragon attacks. It seems that the one in
the cave was only the baby, and now the mother is mad at you! It's possible to defeat
the ANCIENT DRAGON (M), but you don't have to. (If you succed, you'll get the
Dragon Scale, one of the best armors in the game.) Either way, Daos, the Sinistral of
Terror, appears and finishes him off. Then he kills Conas just for fun :-( For the time
being, you can do nothing but cross Mistra Cave and head south to Redwood.

Redwood

Items: X-Potion, Revive, X-Magic, Antidote, ConfuPowder, Life Seed, Skill Seed, Luck
Blade
What's a Lufia game without a casino? Here you can't gamble, but you make the
acquaintance of your next party member, Ruby. Talk to her after you've watched the
scene with Tak. She will join you if you beat her in the Monster Track. So enter the
contest on the 2nd floor, rest in the inn and head to Azoles Cave.

Azoles Cave
Floors: 10
Ancient Text: Afterimage, Heavy Noise
Items: Speed Seed, Mind Seed, Rocket Ring, HiPow Ring

At B10 you will find out that Ruby has been there first, but Tak doesn't play fair. After
you help her to defeat the BIG MOUTH, she'll join your party.
Return to Redwood and talk to Leydock, the promoter of the Monster Track, at the 2 nd
floor of the casino. Since you're the winner, he invites you to a feast. So head straight
through Azoles Cave and south to Leydock's Mansion.

Leydock's Mansion / Leydock's Dungeon

Floors: 5
Ancient Text: Support, CrossMirage
Items (Mansion): Charred Newt (2), Potion, GoddessTear (3), Revive, Miracle, Hi
Magic, Silent Powder, Death Powder, BigBoomer, Dragon Egg
Items (Dungeon): Numb Powder, Goddess Tear, Fire Boomer, Mind Seed, X-Potion, Hi
Magic, Miracle

Search everything before you talk to Leydock and participate in the dinner he has
prepared for you. In the night, you'll find out that there was sleeping powder in the
food, and everybody but Dei and Wain has been captured. At the entrance to the
dungeon you can rest, save your game and buy equipment for Wain and Dei.
Descend to B5, where you'll find out that Leydock wanted you as showpieces of his
perverse collection.

As in the previous boss battles, concentrate on LEYDOCK since he will summon new
Ghost soldiers as soon as one is dead. After you've checked the statues, leave this
inhospitable house and head east and north to Tanba.

Tanba
Items: Potion, X-Potion, Hi Magic, X-Magic (2), GoddessTear (2), Miracle, Confu
Powder, Boomerang, Life Blade, Bunny Ring
Not much to do here for the moment. You'll find out that a guard named Jan has gone
to the Tower of Sorrow to challenge Daos, so follow him straight through Tanba Cave.

Tower of Sorrow (1)

Floors: 20 (you can access 6 at this point)
Ancient Text: ScatterMist, Strong Cure
Items: Revive, Hi Magic

In the Tower, go up to 7F where you will confront DAOS. After 3 rounds, Jan kills him
(really?). Return to Tanba. (If you manage to beat Daos in 3 rounds, you'll get the
Daos Armor.)

It's time for the wedding of Jan and Sammi! But suddenly Daos appears to spread
terror. The tragic events result in Jan's death. You will fight Daos again, but he
escapes after 3 rounds. (You can earn the Daos Stone if you defeat him before.)
After the funeral, Yurist decides to go with you to avenge Jan's death. Now your party
is almost complete. Search Jan's grave for the Engage Ring.
Since the way through Tanba Cave is blocked, you can't reach the tower. So head
north and west to Mologoro (or: Mologolo), the last town on this continent.

Mologoro
Items: CharredNewt, Revive, GoddessTear, Hi Magic(2), X-Magic, Antidote (2), Mystery
Pin, ConfuPodwer, Small Boomer, Body Seed, Mind Seed, Bunny Tray
Mologoro is the home of Isaac Shaia, the genius inventor. Unfortunately he is not
here. In his lab you are told that the professor is doing research in Gologolo cave, so
board your ship and follow him to the island in the south.

Gologolo Cave
Floors: 9
Ancient Text: Solid Attack
Items: Hi Potion, Revive, GoddessTear, Miracle, X-Magic (2), Life Seed

Descend the cave to B9, where you'll find Isaac. He's just testing a drilling device to
search for water, which turns out to be oil. Unfortunately, he wakes up a Fire Dragon,
but you don't have to fight :-)
Isaac can remodel your ship into an airship, but he needs a piece of Floatium. There
should be one in Tanba Shrine, on the little promontory northeast of the Tower of
Sorrow.

Tanba Shrine
Floors: 10
Ancient Text: ShadowDance, Heal Force
Items: Revive, Goddess Tear(2), Hi Magic, X-Magic, Miracle, Power Seed

Make your way up to 10F, where you'll find a big crystal of Floatium. When you try to
take it, Wain and Seena are sucked in.

Tower of Sorrow (2)

Floors: 20 (you can only access 14-20 right now)
Ancient Text (14-20): Fire Sword, Revive
Items: X-Magic
The two heroes show up at 14F. There is an old man who sells you items. Seena and
Wain must descend to the top of the tower, where they will confront Daos once again.
They seem to have no chance against him, but it is possible to win the battle if Seena

casts Mirror all the time. (You'll get the Daos Ring if you do.) Either way, Daos will
knock them down, but the party appears just in time and takes them on their new
airship. It seems Isaac is really a genius!

Tower of Sorrow (3)

Floors: 20
Ancient Text (7-13): White Whale, Ultimate Bet
Since you have an airship now, you can visit Midy on Rosplett Continent and buy new
equipment and magic. After you have rested, you start your next attempt to reach
Daos. The airship has been damaged a little - it can fly over mountains, but not to the
top of the tower. That means that you have to walk all the way up. At 20F you'll find
DAOS, and now you can finally defeat him! Before he dies, he tells you that the
Sinistrals can come back to life anytime as long as they aren't defeated with the
proper weapon - the Dual Blade.
There is still one Sinistral left - Erim, the most dangerous because she can revive the
other three. So the party decides to go south to Rosplett continent to gather more
information.

Rosplett Continent and Doom Island

Midy
Items: Hi Potion (3), Miracle(2), GoddessTear, X-Magic, Mystery Pin, BoltBoomer, Mind
Seed, Skill Seed, Bunnysuit

When you arrive at Rosplett continent from the north, the first thing you see is the
entrance to Rosplett Forest. If you go straight southward, you come to Midy. (You can
fly there as well.) But if you go to the right, you'll enter the forest dungeon. It leads to
a big tree where you can find the Magnificent Wood for Gantz (see sidequests.)
Midy is the village of the elves. Here you can buy (nearly) the best weapons and
armor. The villagers tell you that Milka is waiting for you at Rosplett Shrine. So board
your airship and head south.

Rosplett Shrine
Floors: 10
Ancient Text: Card Stream, Energy Punch, Force Wave
Items: Revive, Hi Magic (2)
At the top floor of the shrine, you'll find Milka, your last party member. She tells you
that the Sinistrals can only be truly defeated with the Dual Blade - a sword which
rests in Doom Island, at the bottom of the ocean.
Isaac needs another piece of Floatium to build a submarine. There should be one at
the Al Ayin Islands, between Epsis and Rosplett Continent (near the center of the
world map).

Al Cave
Floors: 10
Ancient Text: Critical, Upright, Octo Strike, Fortune Dice
Items: Body Seed, Miracle, Goddess Tear, Revive
Fly to Al Ayin Island, descend into the cave and take the crystal (no problem this
time). Then return to Shaia Lab in Mologoro, talk to the assistant who is standing near
the water, and - tadaah! - your ship will be turned into a submarine. The way to
Doom Island is free.

Doom Island (Daos Shrine)

Items: Hi Potion, X-Potion (2), Revive, X-Magic (2), Miracle, Speed Seed (2), Risk
Blade, BunnyBlade, Dual Blade

Steer your ship into the whirlpool in the middle of Al Ayin Islands. You'll go down to
the sunken Doom Island.
The layout reminds of Lufia 1 and 2, but it's much shorter, and there are no enemies.
First go down to the basement and take the treasures. Then proceed to the main
room. Before you approach the Dual Blade, descend the stairs behind the center of
the room and save your game. When Wain tries to take the legendary sword, you are
attacked by ERIM.

After you have defeated her, she tells you that the other Sinistrals have already been
ressurected. So go back to the surface and, after you have made your last
preparations, head to the Tower of Twilight (on the peninsula southeast of Rosplett
Continent).

Tower of Twilight
Floors: 30
Ancient Text: Chakra, Sea God, Ice Sword
Items: Miracle (2), X-Potion, Life Seed, Power Seed, G. Charm

As you might have expected, here are the strongest monsters of the game. The tower
has 30 levels, but from 25F on, they consist of only one room. You can find some
treasures if you check the lamps and statues. In 30F, you will have to face GUARD
DAOS, a fusion of Gades, Amon and Daos.

When you have defeated him, the game has still a surprise for you. You'll lose Seena,
and you'll have to fight ERIM once again. Then suddenly a monster appears from the
sky - Zalbak, the Infernal God of Flame, summoned by the ghost of Daos. Doom
Island rises from the depths of the ocean, and the Demon takes possesion of it and
tries to destroy the world. You must stop him as quick as possible!

Doom Island

Fly to the floating Fortress of Doom. All the treasure chests are refilled, and after the
place where you found the Dual Blade, there is a new way leading to ZALBAK. He is a
difficult opponent, but you can do it! Congratulations, you have finished the game
and saved the world once again! Sit back and watch the happy end.

After the "End" screen, press A, and you will be shown some statistics how many
battles you have fought, how many times each character has died and so on. When
you restart the game, you will see a new option "Start Over", where you'll get 4 times
EXP, LP and Gold.

The Dragon Eggs
Like in Lufia 1 and 2, there are 8 Dragon Eggs to be found throughout the world. If
you find them all, the Egg Dragon will grant you a wish!
1. Enter the item shop in Patos through the backdoor and look into the chest.
2. In Majari, Lurissa tells you that her father has gone to Laphon Cave and
hasn't come back for three days. Find him, and talk to Lurissa again.
3. Talk to Fugo's wife, Etral, in Albano after defeating Gades.
4. After Gades has destroyed Fugo's new house, talk to Gantz, the architect, and
ask him to build Lamika's house in Patos. He needs a special wood from the
Good Tree which you can find in the last screen of Copley Forest. Return to

Patos. After the house is rebuild, Lamika will give you a Dragon Egg. (In a
chest in the new house you can find a Miracle.)
You can find an Egg in the Pirate's Hideout (in one of the chests where you fell
into the trap).
Another one is on the 3rd floor of Leydock's Mansion.
Gantz can rebuild Siantao as well, but he needs the Magnificent Wood from
Rosplett Forest. After you have brought it to him, you'll find that he has not
only repaired the town, but added a completely new castle with exquisite
shops! The girl in the throne room will give you another Dragon Egg.
Go to the Ancient Cave near Gulduck (the island between Lidal and Fante
Continent). Don't enter the cave yet, but go to the 3rd floor, where you'll find
the last Dragon Egg.

The Egg Dragon lives in the Ancient Maze in the basement of Siantao Castle. To
enter it, you need the Egg Key which is found in Tanba Cave, B13. Make your way
to the Dragon, and he will grant you one of three wishes:

10 Seed set: 10 of each kind of seeds (Wisdom, Mind, Power, Skill and Life
Seed)
Super Ring set: Mystery RS, Witch RS, Mind Ring, P-Tech RS, Muscle RS, Flash
RS, Chill RS, Burn RS
10 Croquettes: they recover 999 HP for each party member

After you have made your decision, the Eggs are spread all over the world. They'll be
in chests in towns or dungeons, but not in the random-generated levels (I think). You
get the Egg Sonar which shows you their locations. (It seems that it doesn't work any
longer after you have defeated Guard Daos.) After you have found all eggs, you can
come back.
(There is a bug reported that if an egg is sent to Laphon Cave, you can't get it
because a guard will block your way. I couldn't confirm this.)
When you have made all wishes, the Egg Dragon will ask you if you want to fight him.
He is the most difficult enemy in the game, but if you defeat him, you'll get the Egg
Sword, and the Dragon will offer to join your party.

The Girl in Copley Forest

Rudo in Caan tells you that he loves a girl named Maqurine who lives in Copley
Forest. Go check it out. You'll find here house where you get lost when you visited the
forest for the first time. Maybe you have to leave and re-enter the house until
Maqurine talks about a jewel called the Purple Eye.
When you return to Rudo, he decides to go to Tomis Cave by himself and find the
jewel. Since he looks rather weak, your party decides to follow him. At B7 of Tomis
Cave, Rudo is attacked by the DEVIL ALLIGATOR. When you defeat it, you get the
Purple Eye, and Rudo heads to Copley Forest to give it to his beloved.
Back in Maqurine's house, you'll find out that the girl has dissappeared - there is only
a cat left. Rudo remembers that Maqurine did mention the Blue Eye, which is to be
found in Slani Cave. Again, he wants to go alone. (Does he never learn?)
In Slani Cave, go past the place where you met Dei and descend to B12. There you'll
have to save Rudo once again, this time from a DEVIL SNAKE. When you defeat it,
you get the Blue Eye, and Rudo returns to Copley Forest.
When the two jewels are shown to the cat, she transforms to Maqurine and tells a
weird story about the Cat God. At least Rudo believes it and confesses his love to the
girl. They live happily ever after, and as a reward for your troubles you get the Cat
Ring, which increases your female characters' speed by 300!

game, sealed in 12 stone pillars. But to get them, you have to find the Glass Ruby in
Broffo Cave, then descend to B100 of the Ancient Cave (near Gulduck - see
Ancient Cave Section) and ask the Master Jelly for "Best weapons". Every time he
grants you the wish, you can unseal 4 weapons. So if you want all of them, you have
to go down 3 times.

Characters
Wain
He's the Hero - a nice guy who cannot see other people suffer. It seems
that he is a descendant of Maxim (from Lufia 2). He gets very upset
when others call him stupid.
He can learn some magic, but his strong point is fighting.
SF color: Red
Seena
A fortune teller and mage. She knows a lot about the Sinistrals and the
Dual Blade, but she's a bit of a nuisance because of her know-it-allattitude.
She can learn both attack and healing magic, but she's not very strong.
SF color: Blue
Dei
A thief who takes from the rich and gives to the poor. He joins after you
free him from Fugo's house in Albano. He is very quick and can learn
useful skills.
SF color: Yellow
Aima
A Karate fighter who wants to avenge the death of her master. She is
very strong and has many HP, so let her stand in the front row!
SF color: Green
Melphis
The sympathic and determined princess from Alstadt who wants to get
back the control over her kingdom. She's indispensable as healer,
because for a long time she's the only one who can learn spells like
ChampionX or Valor.
SF color: Blue
Randolph
An old knight, loyal to Princess Melphis. He's very strong, but has rather
few HP - so it's difficult to decide whether to put him in the front row or
not.
SF color: Red

Deckard
A noble pirate with a mysterious past. There isn't much to say about
him except that he is very strong.
SF color: Red
Mousse
A nice, furry monster from Copley Forest. You can neither equip nor
control it, but the good point is that you have a 4th attack per round. It
has some useful skills like Tail Illusion (a very strong attack) or
Mysterious Bubble (lowers DFP of all enemies).
SF color: Green
Yurist
After the events in Tanba, he joins your party to avenge his friend's
death . He can learn fairly useful healing magic as well as fighting skills.
(Nat King pointed out that, despite of his girlyish look, Yurist is male. But
since he can equip "female" weapons and armor, I'll count him as
"female fighter".)
SF color: Blue
Ruby
You meet this gambler in the Redwood casino, but she won't join before
you beat her in the "Monster Track". All her skills are related to luck.
SF color: Yellow
Isaac
The usual genius inventor, a member of the famous Shaia family (his
ancestors Raile Shaia and Lexis Shaia played important roles in Lufia 1
and 2). He remodels your ship so that it can fly, but in battle he's not
very useful.
SF color: Yellow
Milka
An elf who also appeared in Lufia 2. (They grow very old!) You have to
find her in Rosplett Shrine. She's an excellent mage, but rather weak.
SF color: Green
Egg Dragon
He is already known from Lufia 1 and 2, but this time he joins you when
you defeat him (see Sidequests). With strong fire spells and an instant
death attack, he is a very useful addition to your party, although you
cannot control him.
SF color: Red

IP-Skills
As in most RPGs, each character has a HP (Hit Points) and MP (Magic Points) bar. But
in battle you'll notice a third bar - the IP (Infuriating Points) bar. It grows every time

you're hit. When a character has accumulated enough IP, he can execute special
skills - the strongest attacks in the game as well as useful healing and support magic.
You can learn these skills from Ancient Texts, which can be found in dungeons. Each
skill requires a certain level of Spiritual Force. You can raise your characters' SF-Level
by assigning LP (which you earn in battle) to them. But each character has only SF of
one color. So how can you learn a skill like Heavy Noise, which requires an SF-level of
12 red, 12 green, 12 yellow and 12 blue?
That's where the position menu come in. Spiritual force flows vertically and
horizontally, so each character benefits from the SF-level of all party members in the
same vertical or horizontal row.
In addition, the SF increases your stats as follows:
Red: +ATP
Blue: +MAP, +REG
Green: +DFP ,+HP
Yellow: +SPD ,+MP
When you have learned a skill, you will never forget it. But if a character isn't
positioned correctly, he will need more IPs to perform a skill. This is marked by a *
beside the name of the skill in the battle menu.

General Information
"Lufia: The Legend returns" is the sequel to "Lufia & the Fortress of Doom" and "Lufia
II: Rise of the Sinistrals", which appeared for the SNES. Actually, Lufia 2 takes place
about 100 years before Lufia 1. It tells how the four Sinistrals appear and reign the
world with terror from their flying fortress, Doom Island. Finally they are defeated by
Maxim, his wife Selan, Guy and the elf Artea.

In Lufia 2, a descendant of Maxim grows up in a peaceful world, together with Lufia,

an orphan girl. (Hence the name of the series!) Suddenly there are rumors to be
heard that the Sinistrals have returned. So the hero and Lufia get on their way to
defeat them again, later joined by Aguro and Jerin, a half-elf girl.
Now 100 years have past, and it seems that the Sinistrals are back again...
Those of you who have played Lufia 1 and/or 2 will recognize many features. The
most important difference is that you can have 9 active members in your party
(instead of 4). But the battle system is easier than it looks. Your characters are
positioned in 3 rows. Every turn, you can choose one character from each vertical line
to perform an action. But you can change positions anytime, except if the character
is dead. When all members of the front row are defeated, it's game over.
After each battle, you get gold, EXP and LP (learning points). You need the LP to "buy"
magic in the temples, but more important, to increase your Spiritual Force value so
that you can learn special skills (see IP-Skills). (Unlike Lufia 2, IP-skills are not learned
from equipped items, but from Ancient Scrolls which you can find in dungeons.)
You can only save in churches and at savepoints. You can also record in the field log,
but this is not really a save - it is deleted when you resume your game. But it's useful
if you don't want to play long dungeons in one piece.
Check everything - barrels, woodpiles, fountains, treestumps, bookshelves... there
might be hidden treasures everywhere. Most of the shops have a backdoor where you
can find treasure chests. Also, if you enter an inn through the backdoor, you can rest
for free :-)

Inn (what else?)

Save Point in a dungeon
Healing Point in a dungeon
Warp Point
There are no dungeon maps, because every time you enter a new floor, it is
generated randomly. But they aren't too complicated. The good thing is that, if you
leave and re-enter a floor, the treasures are back again. The enemies in the
dungeons are visible and move only when you move. What's more, you can paralyze
them with a wave attack, so you can avoid fights if you aren't in the mood.
Hit every suspicious wall with your sword or a wave attack - you will find many
treasures which can't be got otherwise. And cut down all bushes - some contain
treasures or healing tiles, others hide nasty traps:
You lose HP
You fall asleep
You cannot move
All enemies in the room attack you
You cannot control your character very
well
You fall down to the level below
In most caves there are two ways. One leads straight to the exit and to your next
goal, the other one goes deeper into the dungeon. When the guard tells you that the
monsters are too strong, believe him! You can come back later. Most of these caves
are part of sidequests.

Ancient Cave
(Many thanks to Black Paladin and Nat King who gave me lots of info about this part.)
If you have played Lufia 2, you will know this cave. This time it's on Gulduck Island,
between Lidal and Fante Continent. It has 100 floors, but to go below B50, you need
the Glass Ruby which you can find in Broffo Cave, B10.
The difficult thing is that you must leave all your items, magic and skills at the
entrance, and your level is reduced to 1. You must survive with the goods you find in
the cave. The only exception are the treasures that you find in the blue chests: you
can keep them and take them with you when you visit the cave again. There are also
some story-related items you can take with you, like the Gades and Daos items, the
Dragon Scale, the Cat Ring and the Bunny items.

Magic spells can be found as scrolls like this:

When you walk over them, everybody in your party who is able to learn the spell will
get it.
In the Ancient Cave there are only stairs leading down - if you want to exit, you need
a Providence item which you can find around B20. Sometimes you'll meet a
merchant. His inventory will change depending from how much money you have.
You'll find all kinds of monsters here, but Mimics and Co. are typical for the Ancient
Cave. They look like normal red treasure chests (the RareMimics like blue chests).
(See Monsters - Ancient Cave.)
If you reach B50 before you've found the Glass Ruby, a waitress will give you the God
Helm (and a Providence, if you haven't got one).

If you manage to reach B100, you'll find a Green Jelly who grants you one of three
wishes:

"Best Weapons"
"Make Ancient Cave 200L"

"Nothing"

The most rewarding wish is "Best Weapons", which lets you take 4 of the 12 weapons
in Parathea Shrine, 4F. (If you want to get all weapons, you must make the wish 3
times.) If you've already got all weapons, the wish will change to "Fight me!" If you
manage to beat the Master Jelly in three rounds, you get the option to start at B100
the next time you visit the Ancient Cave. If not, it will escape from battle and throw
you out of the cave :-(
At B200 you must fight Iris (or Iria), an extremely hard Boss. If you defeat her, you'll
get the Ancient Text D-End Flash, which takes away 1/2 of the enemies' HP, and a
Rainbow Amulet, which prevents monsters from appearing.
If you ask for nothing and leave the cave, all your characters will gain 5 levels after
the next battle.

Blue Chest Items

(I've only mentioned items that can be found uniquely in the Ancient Cave. There are
others, like the Bunny items. The list is not complete.)
