Ejemplo de Adjetivos Comparativos y Superlativos en Ingls

Cuando queremos comparar dos sustantivos en ingls, utilizamos los grados
comparativos, llamados comparativo y superlativo, y estos a su vez, podemos dividirlos
segn su nivel de comparacin, en comparativos de superioridad, inferioridad o igualdad.
El comparativo Sirve para indicar un grado de comparacin entre dos sustantivos, e indica
que uno de los sustantivos tiene un atributo en mayor o menor grado que aquel con el se le
compara.

My car is faster than yours (Mi coche es ms rpido que el tuyo)

El superlativo es el grado de comparacin entre dos o ms sustantivos, o entre un
sustantivo singular y uno plural o colectivo, indicando que el atributo tiene el mayor grado
de entre aquellos con que se compara.

Reglas para formar el comparativo y el superlativo
1. Adjetivos monoslabos:
Para formar el comparativo y el superlativo de los adjetivos monoslabos, agregaremos las
partculas er para el comparativo, y est para el superlativo:

Adjetivo: Strong
Compartivo: Stronger
Superlativo: Strongest
Adjetivo: Old

Adjetivo: High

Cuando los adjetivos terminan en y, se cambia por i; cuando terminan con las letras b, d, g,
n, p, t, la ltima letra se duplica. Algunos adjetivos con dos slabas con terminaciones er,
-y, -ow, -le con acento en la ltima slaba., tambin admiten la adicin de er y est:

The snakes are more dangerous than crocodiles (Las serpientes son ms peligrosas
que los cocodrilos.
Play football is more interesting than study Chemistry (Jugar ftbol es ms interesante
que estudiar qumica).
Comparativo de inferioridad: Se forma con la frmula: less (adjetivo) than (menos
que):
Acrilic is less transparent than glass. (El acrlico es menos transparente que el vidrio).
A generic remote control, is less expensive than the original (Un control remoto genrico,
es menos caro que el original)
Coffe is less nutritiuos than chocolate (El caf es menos nutritivo que el chocolate).
Superlativo de superioridad. Se forma con la estructura the most (adjetivo) (el ms):
This pen was the most expensive in the store (Esta pluma era la ms cara en la tienda)
The most important part of dance, is music (La parte ms importante del baile, es la
msica)
The most precious jewel, is diamond (La ms preciosa joya, es el diamante)
Superlativo de inferioridad. Usa la estructura the least (adjetivo) (el menos):
This trip is the least pleasant I have. (Este viaje es el menos agradable que he tenido)
Today is the least overcast day in two months (Hoy es el da menos nublado en dos
meses)
John is the least enthusiastic member of the team (Juan es el miembro menos
entusiasta del equipo.
