Wireless User Identifier and Direction of Arrival Indicator
The project is to design a system that can identify the wireless standard of the transmitter (e.g. GSM,
WIMAX) along with its direction of arrival. The direction of arrival (azimuthal location) will be displayed
graphically on visual monitor. In this project, the wireless user will be identified and located with the help of
four modules. The modules include ultra wide band antenna array, band pass filters, down converters and
DSP module. The received analog signal will be passed through A/D converter to make it suitable for digital
processor. The signal processing techniques will be employed to find the location of the received signal. If
time permits, the direction of arrival estimation techniques will also be incorporated in this project

Switched Beam Antenna Array Using Butler Matrix Phase Shifter
The project is to design a 4 element linear antenna array capable of switching its beam in specific directions
with minimum side lobe level. Butler matrix will be employed to steer the main beam. Butler matrix act as a
passive reciprocal network which can be used at both as transmitter as well as a receiver. The butler matrix
used as a beam-forming network consists of a 3 dB quadrature hybrid. One hybrid drives two antenna
elements in parallel. In butler matrix antenna elements are placed in such a way that the radiation pattern of
single element can be multiplied with array factor

FINAL YEAR PROJECT
GSM Based SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) Implementation: The main aim of this
project is GSM based SCADA implementation. SCADA system enables a site operator to monitor and control
processes. These systems encompass the transfer of data between a SCADA central host computer and a
number of remote terminal units (RTUS). SCADA systems gathers information, transfers the information back
to a central site, and display the information in a logical and organized fashion.

Mimo Cognitive Radios
The project is a fully working prototype on OFDM based cognitive MIMO system which has been implemented on
2 x USRPs(universal software radio peripheral).
By monitoring the activity of the primary user (GSM service provider), the cognitive link communicates when it
senses that a particular licensed channel is not being used by the primary user.
The secondary user (cognitive radio) continuously monitors the primary channels and uses an underutilized/unused
primary channel. It uses MIMO communication and keeps low output power for its operation , which incurs at most
minimal or no interference to the licenesed primary user.
