Chapter II

TECHNOLOGY AND MARKET RESEARCH LITERATURE

The rapid advances in technology have brought a lot changes to the camera

information. The late twentieth-century convergence of audio-visual technologies with

computing has led to a profound and ongoing transformation in the ways in which we

record, interpret and interact with the world.

Video Industry

The film industries have been entwined almost from the beginning of the

television broadcasting. The time-shifting of the broadcast was initially accomplished by

the simple expedient of photography a video monitor with 16mm black and white motion

picture film, immediately processing and then replaying the film, back into the broadcast

system desired time. (Clark, and Spohr, 2002)

Morris (1999) clears out digital film or video making as: first, it is thought as a

combination of film or video making methods that are dominated by digital solutions and

tools that have created new means of accomplishing old tasks; second, some of these new

digital tools have combined to created new capabilities, heretofore unavailable to the film

or video makers.

Based on the (New Encyclopedia, 1998) filming is considered the youngest form

if art. Computer Graphics the is use of computer to produce pictorials representation of

information, whether a video game-gaze, a graph of company yearly earnings or a full-

blown simulation of dog fighting jet planes.

Video Production

Goodman, and McGrath (2003) categorize that video production is described in

two (2) broad categories: telecast and non-telecast. Telecast includes programs by

networks, independent production company, and local stations. While the non-telecast

includes, medical, legal instructional and personal applications.

The very nature of video perpetuates its popularity. The size of the image, the use

of color, the actors, the exciting plots and character development, the technical excellence

of production all contribute to the universal acceptance of the video, this is according to

Button (2002).

Video is a process of communication that uses electrically reproduced moving

images, speech, sound effects, and music. Video takes many forms, ranging from

expensive network productions to a single consumer recording of a child’s birthday party.

Its purpose is to document important events, institution, persuasion and artistic

expression. (Kenworthy, 2006)

Video Editing

Referring to Fowler (2001), editing is the process with amazing individual shots

or sequences into an appropriate order. The appropriate order is determined by the

information, the editor wants to communicate and the impact the editor wants to achieve

with the material.

In addition to the editing, Kenworthy (2006) added that “the editing is the

summary of preproduction, production, and post-production that any film is affected by

these new sets of tools and capabilities”.
