26.Teaching methods adopted to improve student learning

*

Descriptive concepts are done in PPTs and OHPs

( Like Introduction of the chapter)

Mathematical steps and logical steps are done on Black board

Giving real world examples

Simplifying a big theorem into small key steps

Revision of big theorems two or more times,

Always revising the previous class sessions

Interaction with the students by asking concerned questions to

know their potential Level and hence simplifying the complex
concepts to their levels

UG students are taught through charts and models ( analytical

geometry)

Giving individual projects

Giving Group Projects

Single project for the whole class

conducting quizzes, debates

Conducting Brainstorming sessions

27.Participation in institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) and

Extension activities
1. Visiting NSS Camps regularly and promoting the NSS Activities.
2. Participation as volunteers in Red Cross Programs.
3. Donating Charts and models of mathematical concepts to
government schools.
4. Conducting counseling classes for mathematics under the IGNOU
Program.
5. Visits along with students to Old Age homes
6. Organised General Health Check up for all the Degree students
7. Organised General Health Check up for all the Degree students
8. Participated in the celebration of 150th birthday of Swamy
Vivekananda
and 500th anniversary of Sri Krishna Devaraya
28.SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans
Strength:
Sincere, Hardworking team of faculty members , good co-ordination
among them
The teachers voluntarily fill in the absence of the other teachers
Around 100 UG students

the faculty members are engaged in Research

The staff always trying to give best and work beyond their threshold
limits
Weakness
Inspite of the efforts put in by the faculty, the results are not 100%,
because many of the students are slow learners and the Student
Teacher ratio is vast.

Opportunities
Mathematics has wide range of applications, students can be
motivated to apply their knowledge
Mathematics with computer science knowledge help the students to
get job in soft skill zone of industry, hence increases employability
Challenges:
The scope of self study in mathematics is very limited due to its
complex nature.
Motivating the students to Higher studies and Research
Future Plans:
Adopting Government/Corporation Schools to simplify and teach
complex mathematics in simple forms

To establish a Mathematical Support Center, to prepare the

students for all competitive/UPSC/KPSC/SSC /Banking exams and
other states competitive exams
