Oktopus Air (OA)

Question: Should Oktopus air care about the pressure group?

Oktopus air is an airline company that targets a specific market

segment, which in this case is both business and economy class
passengers. They are recognized and admired by their costumers for
their ethical objective and its mission statement which is in the air,
we care for everyone! OA airline is very successful since usually all of
their flights are full, and their customers feedback is excellent. There
are two social changes that are affecting OA airlines, which consist on
the increase of obesity passengers and the increase in families
traveling with young children in business. Pressure groups that are
representing obese people are claiming that OA is acting unethically
since they have decided to charge very obese passengers for two
seats. So the real question is should Oktopus airline care about the
pressure group?

To begin with the OA airline should care about the pressure

group since many people are complaining about their unethical
actions, creating a bad image to the company, therefore all the
completion would form a negative campaign about this circumstances
which will cause the company to decline in costumers. This then
connects to a smaller target market and even further they could get
into legal issues since they are acting morally wrong towards the
obese people. Therefore.

In the other hand the OA airline should not pay attention to the
pressure group because there is brand loyalty which causes many
people to ignore the complains and doubts of the costumers since
they feel faithfully and loyalty towards the brand. Furthermore if you
dont pay attention to the pressure group you will have more revenue
because you will charge two tickets for one obese person meaning
that if now a days the obesity is increasing you will not loose money.
In the other hand if you do pay attention to the pressure group and
just charge one ticket for two seats and the obesity keeps increasing
then you could get a full flight with obese people by gaining less
profit. Therefore by not paying attention to the pressure group and
charging a cost of two tickets for one person it will mean no lost of
profit for the airline. Additionally all the competitors are carrying the
same practices since obese people can also create safety problems

when trying to exit the plane. By having all the airlines act the same
way then there will be no competition for these aspect meaning it will
not affect the airline ethically.
In conclusion the Oktopus airline should care about the pressure
group because they have a larger risk of
