Global warming and climate change is a very hot topic right now, and

even on a global scale. The issue is that a lot of the information is tied to
political bias and position, as well as the desire for an increase of social
presence. For example, the usage of the term global warming is one that
NASA felt was necessary to clarify. They do not necessarily advocate using
the term interchangeably with climate change (Conway). This is because
there is sufficient evidence to support the contention that climate change is
happening in contrast to how global warming has certain implications which
arent entirely supported by evidence. This does not mean that the
contentions are false, but rather that they remain inconclusive, as opposed
to the claims of climate change. This trend of bias promotion has led to a
generalization of data and a near blind acceptance of presented information.
Despite the potential for truth in the issue, there is a greater potential for
oversight and passionate bias driven reaction.
The political nature of the argument is largely due to the necessity for
unification and regulation in terms of preventative or combative measures.
Without political presence, the likelihood of meaningful action is implausible.
This leads many to push for political action, which automatically places much
information upon questionable grounds as political grounds are often
naturally biased grounds.
However, despite the political basis and the amount of potentially
biased information, there is indeed sufficient information present to suggest
an irregularity with the climate patterns. This is evident with such research
which display how volatile and inconsistent climates have become (Mindock).
This leads us to believe that there is indeed validity to much of the findings,
which merit further research. As the potential implications of a global
warming effect are numerous and grave, immediate research should
commence, but independently so from political control and influence. This
creates a whole new dilemma, as the funding for these projects are limited
without the prospect of any real financial returns. Investment without moral
bias is unlikely, due to this factor, and thus requires some very odd and
specific conditions in order to work. As mentioned, this would require moral
benefactors independent from political bias who desire to research the issues
without the promise of a formal return.
As unlikely as this sounds, there has been a massive shift in moral
desire in favor of climate change research. People have been investing
independent resources in greater amounts than ever before which perhaps
displays that there is as much hope now as there ever has been before.
