Lesson Plan

Group: Begginers 3
1. Goals of the 4 hour-session: To review some adjectives of physical
description, as well as giving personal opinions of a given topic.
2. Materials for the session: Posters, cards with parts of the body, music.
3. Procedure:
Warm up:
Objective: To review some of the parts of the body seen and reviewed last
class. The students will have to touch the part of the body that is mentioned by
the teacher, who is going to be mentioning them faster and faster, until the
students can understand perfectly the parts of the body.
Materials and equipment: None
Time: 7-9 minutes approximately
Task 1: To know the opinion of the students related to beauty.
Objective: To discuss the different poins of view that students have of different
patterns of beauty.
Materials and equipment: posters and photos of various women, as well as the
ones given in the book.
Time: 30- 36 minutes
Step /stage 1: The teacher will ask students to divide a sheet in two, and the
students will have to draw something beautiful and something ugly.
Step 2/ stage 2: After drawn, 5 or 6 students will go in front of the classroom
and make a short presentation of something beautiful and something ugly. The
will use the sentence something beautiful is... and something ugly is...
Step/stage 3: The students will be asked to give an opinion or different
features that a beautiful woman should have, especially the physical ones. In
this way, the students will realise what requirements do a person to be
beautiful. This activity will be made as a brainstorm, and all students`ideas will
be written on the board by the teacher.
** There will be a Break activity of about 10 minutes, in which the
students will have to make teams and choose a person, who will draw
the part of the body said by the teacher in a small paper. The winners
will have positive points.
Task 2: To discover qualities of a person

Objective: To find out good characteristics of somebody.


Materials and equipment: Read and Think! Book pictures and texts
Time: 42 minutes 45 minutes
Step /stage 1: The pictures of page 1 in the Read and Think! Book will be
observed by students for 30 seconds. The teacher will ask ss to mention
features or characteristics that can make the women in the pictures beautiful. If
there are any questions about the culture to which each one of the women
belong to, the teacher will answer.
Step 2/ stage 2: The students will be asked to read mentally and try to
understand the text in a general way, with the help of the pictures that are
added to the text. After 5 to 7 minutes, the students will be asked to read the
text outloud (each student will read a sentence), and pronunctiation will be
checked at this time.
Step/stage 3: Some basic questions about the reading will be made, e.g. What
is the text about? What do you think is the girl in the first picture feeling? ; then
some of the questions that are proposed in the book will be asked, but the
majority of them will be written on the students` notebook.
** There will be a break activity, in which students will divide in groups of two;
one will be the strawberries, and another one will be the cherries. When the
teacher says strawberries, that team will chage their sits, and the same when
said cherries. When the teacher says fruits salad, everybody changes their
seats. Eventually, the teacher will be taking out some seats, until two students
participate.
Task 3: To discover qualities of a person
Objective: To analyse information about a text and a topic given.
Materials and equipment: Read and Think! Book pictures and texts
Time: 30- 42 minutes
Step /stage 1: Students will be asked to write 10 sentences that they consider
important to make a general sinthesis of the text read.
Step 2/ stage 2: Students will have to analyse and make some conclusions of
the chart given in the reading What is beauty, and they will have to read
them outloud.
Step/stage 3: In their own dictionary (made in the last part of the notebook),
students will have to write the new words they learned and will give a meaning
to each one of them.
