RESUMO
ABSTRACT
There is a general agreement among the literature, that physically active people
require no additional nutrients, in addition to existing in a healthy diet. However, other
studies indicate that the inadequacy of energy consumption still predominates in
several athletic groups, revealing the need for supplementation and reeducation of
eating habits, because nutrition plays a vital role in training and exercise
performance. The sportsman who wants to improve their performance, before
starting the use of nutritional supplements, dietary behavior needs to adopt
appropriate to his efforts in relation to quantity and variety, but the established habits
for healthy eating. So, this study aimed to evaluate the food habits and consumption
of supplements on a sample of sportsmen. Participated 22 men (73.3) and 8 women
(26.7), age between 18 and 37 years ( 5.9 years). About to consumption of
supplements, the most consumed are protein supplements and based on
carbohydrates. Among the most cited were whey protein (60), creatine (16.7), bcaa
(13.3), and maltodextrin (40) was the most cited among carbohydrates. Could be
observed that 16 individuals (53.3) have less daily energy consumption than the
recommended, 12 individuals (40) perform adequate caloric intake and 2 individuals
(6.7) more than the ideal. A study about the consumption of protein demonstrates an
average consumption (19.83 5.14) more than the recommended; carbohydrates
(48.84 8.56) less than the recommended, and average consumption (31.25, 6.05)
suitable for lipids. The practice of these individuals are not adequate nutritional and
although sportsmen have demonstrated interest in improving their performance
through the use of nutritional supplements, dietary habits should be first considered.
