InordertopromoteinvolvementofprivatesectorinconstructionandmaintenanceofNationalHighways,projectsareofferedon
BOTbasis.Concessionperiod,whichcanrangeuptothirtyyears,roadistransferredbacktoNHAIbytheConcessionaire.
ProjectsofDelhiGurgaonSection(AccessControlled8/6Lane)andNelloreTadaetc.arebeingexecutedonBOTbasis.

2.ExternallyAidedProjects:
NHAIistheimplementingagencyforexecutingprojectsforwhichloanassistanceisavailablefromMultilateralDevelopment
AgencieslikeADBandWorldBankorJIBC.Incaseoftheseprojects,majorityofthefundsaretransferredbyMinistryofRoad
Transport&HighwaystoNHAIthroughbudgetaryrouteandNHAIreceivesagencychargesforexecutingtheseprojects.
3.NHAIfundedProjects:
NHAIreceivesfundsforaugmentingitscapitalbasefromtheGovernmentthroughannualbudgetsorbyMarketborrowing.

Stage1:
Prequalificationonbasisoftechnicalandfinancialexpertiseofthefirmanditstrackrecordsonsimilarprojects.
Stage2:
Commercialbidsfromprequalifiedbidders.Thereisatimelagbetweenstage1and2.
WidepublicityisgiventoNHAItenderssoastoattractattentionofleadingContractors/consultants.Noticeinviting
tendersispostedonthiswebsiteandpublishedinleadingnewspapers.
Finalselection:
IfaprojectisfundedbyMultilateralfundingagencylikeWorldBank,ADB,selectioniswithconsultation/concurrenceofthe
fundingorganisation.Forothertypesofprojectsselectionisasperstandardsworkprocedures.
