EDUCATION IN PER

I do agree with you. You are right in many points. It is true that our level of
education is not good at all. I do not remember it exactly, but three years ago I
was in a conference about education which I have realized that the government
only invested 0.5% of the money in education. While spends a very bigger
amount of money in sport, which is stupid.
On the other hand, there is no a very good understanding about what progress
or development of a country really means. The majority of presidents as
Ollanta Humala are more interesting in topics such as: security, and that is
good, however the progress of a country is measured according to his
educational level. There is no any institution that really be interested in
education, and if there be would, maybe it would be partial because of many of
institutions who tell that they are interesting in education want to get some
profits. Education is seen as a The Great business. It is like to make 100
people enter in a Combi even there is no space.
Many universities are interesting in how to persuade people to ask for their
services rather than provide them a good education. There is good publicity,
but there is no quality in what they offer. This reality, we are falling down into a
deep hole without hope.
Another reason which our education is under rating is: most teachers do not
master their subjects, this also happens at the university level. They are not
qualified nor are expertise in the subject they teach. Many of them have a
master or doctorate degree, but neither of them have a guarantee or a proof to
demonstrate that they are really qualified to teach, neither have any
publication.
There is no control at any level of education, all is a cursing business. Nobody
takes care about it. More programs to better our education are implanted, but
neither of them have good results. The question why? The answer is simple,
there is no exigency. The government hires teacher who are not qualified,
and this affects to all students who really want to learn. In many cases, I have
found students who master deeper the subject than their own teachers.
However, here is not acceptable due to according to our culture or professional
ethics a student must not know more than his/her teacher. While in Europe,
students develop their critical thinking and they iterate their own arguments
and ideas.

Another reason which our education is under rating is, as you mentioned
before, because of teachers are interested and focused in methodology,
didactic, pedagogy rather than master their subjects. For example, Sipan

university offers a course in How to teach English (normally the three last
month in the year , which I was participate of , however most of the
participants , who all were English teachers they do not speak any word in that
language my English was better than any of them.).
I think students are used to have soft course and pass them, no matter if they
master or not the subject. They want only to finish their career and find a very
well-paid job (they only want to earn money without taking account what they
will teach to others) It is a cultural problem and we need to stop it. It is
necessary to change peoples mind (Peruanos) teaching to them values and
ethics.
For last, as everybody Knows, we are living a digital era where computer are
gaining land in Education. Most students spend hours in front of a computer.
However, they do not know how damage is use a computer or depend on it so
much. As Giovanni Sartori says:
we are living in the image reign (Homo
videns, 1996).
The abstraction ability of humans being is being replaced by the using of
computers. We do not have the ability to think critically , even more we are
losing the main four abilities ( speaking , reading , writing , listening ) Students
read and write less , moreover , they do not understand what they listen to or
read . All these factors affect to our education.
What we need to do is to reflect about it, but not only reflect but to act . Maybe
teacher need to be paid more and be trained more strictly.
It is time that Peru be a great country, Good education is the solution. How can
we do it?
Thank you Teacher IDE for sharing with us your feelings and points of view
about our education
