John Deere Supplier Information Survey

INSTRUCTIONS
1.

Survey Purpose
This Supplier Information Survey is designed to get information from a potential direct or indirect material supplier
to evaluate their management, financial, material control, quality, code of conduct, engineering and technical
support processes to decide if they are capable to be considered as a potential supplier for John Deere. It is
designed to be first completed by mailing the survey questionnaire to a potential supplier and evaluating their
responses. It is also intended to be a way to communicate Deere's expectations to a potential supplier.
This Supplier Information Survey Process has the following objectives:
A.
To provide information on potential and exsisting supplier's adequacy of management, financial,
material control, engineering and technical support processes.
B.
Provide Supplier Code of Conduct notification of noncompliance.
C.
Provide input regarding Supplier's information to the John Deere Enterprise.
D.
Survey results will be used to objectively evaluate Suppliers and assist in facilitating Supplier Selection
and Development. Survey results will also be used to improve the Enterprise supply base.
E.

2.

Survey Schedule
A.
B.

4.

John Deere supply management organizations should use this Supplier Information Survey to screen
potential suppliers.
A Supplier Information Survey should be conducted prior to a supplier site vist. This is done by sending
the survey questionnaire to the supplier for a self-assessment. The survey results are then reviewed for
adequacy prior to planning a site visit or audit.

C.

The Supplier Information Survey was developed as a tool to assist in providing a consistent view of
supplier capabilities. They do not cover product specific questions such as design, manufacturing,
quality, or performance characteristics. Product / process specific topics must be addressed as needed
by technically competent auditors.

D.

When an on-site information survey is conducted, the Supplier Information Survey Information should
be included as a part of the final on-site survey report.
The Supplier Information Survey is generic in nature and includes questions that will not always be
applicable to a specific supplier. Questions that are not applicable, or that were not covered during an
on-site survey, may be noted as such on the final report.

E.

3.

Thissurvey is not intended to cover the supplier's or John Deere's entire quality system. To conduct a
thorough review of the supplier's quality system, an audit must be conducted an using the JDS-G223
Supplier Quality System Audit Questionnaire and led by a qualified Lead Auditor. A review of John
Deere's quality system is conducted with internal audits by trained auditors or consultants.

Completing the Survey

A.

For an on-site survey, the survey report should be completed and shared with the Supplier before
departure if possible. At a minimum, the Supplier should be advised of any problems. Containment
should be addressed if there are issues concerning the production of nonconforming material.

B.

If conducting an on-site survey, provide the supplier feedback during a closing meeting. Follow-up with
the final written report within two weeks.

Storing the Survey (Deere Internal Use)

311879856.xls

A.

After completing the survey, please send it to your John Deere division quality audit system coordinator
to file in Supplier Evaluation Tracking system located in JD Supply Network. Delete the survey
instructions, change history, and any other non-applicable worksheets prior to filing the audit. The list of
Deere employees that can file your survey are listed and can be viewed at the following link:
http://smutility.deere.com/SET/servlet/com.rens.set.servlet.SETMainMenuServlet and selecting
Authorized Users for Data Uploading.

B.

After completing the survey, please upload the file to the Supplier Evaluation Tracking system located in
JD Supply Network. If you do not have access to the SET system, please contact your manager to gain
access.

C.

All completed surveys and assessments can be viewed in Supplier Evaluation Tracking at the below
