a.Ê Challenges within the computer science community can all be linked to very few
common issues. One very critical issue that has been around for some times has
been the usability of developed applications. The complexity of a computer
application can weigh heavily on both the user and developer. Challenges to
satisfy certain aspects of the application such as the cosmetically enhanced
appeal of the user interface, proposed functionality of the application, enhanced
features, security development, etc., can all amount to a bland application in the
making if it appears to be too complex to the prospective user(s). Likewise,
developers find it rather challenging to develop applications that are bountiful in
features, but not too complex to the users. Users are more likely accustomed to
using applications that will allow them to accomplish their desired task without
having to spend a great deal of time determining how to do so, and with as little
difficulties as possible. Some applications requires that one attain the knowledge
needed to use it to its full potential, such as Photo Shop CS3, a complex
application that is not easily understood by even the most advanced graphic
designers, where as an application such as MS Paint can be. Computer Science
revolves around developing and enhancing applications, rather it be for a specific
device or software. The design and functionality of an application is key with
respects to appearance and potential usability, however, the application can
have very little value if one is not able to familiarize themselves with the full
functionality of such an application do to its complexity.
