Instruction for Operation and Maintenance

Serie 17RA units

General Note
Please refer to attached drawing A which is typical for all units.

Filling the calorifier tank

Assuming that the vessel is completely isolated, i.e. all valves shown are in the closed position.

OPEN all hot water taps in the system, this to assist in the expelling of air that
maybe in the system.
Start cold water supply pump and open isolation valves to calorifier if any.
OPEN stop valves A, B & C and allow water to fill up the vessel. Ensure that
drain valve E is in NC position.
Check pressure gauges reading. Ensure that the pressure gauge does not
exceed 10 bar. Note the temperature gauge reading for cold water
temperature.
OPEN remote control valve start the circulation pumps if any, assist if
required.
When water flows through the hot water taps, close them so that circulation
can take place.
Inspect calorifier and piping system for any leaks.

Operation
Turn on the selector switch on the control panel to ON position. Ensure heater
light will appear.
Note the water temperature on the temperature gauge. Check the set
temperature on the thermostat which factory set at 60 degC.
Wait for the water temperature to rise, if the temperature does not rise, go to
fault finding section.
During operation ensure that all valves are in positions as shown in
attachment "A".
NO - NORMALLY OPEN IN OPERATION
NC - NORMALLY CLOSED IN OPERATION

Maintenance
Empty the calorifier tank. Turn the power supply selector switch on the control
panel to OFF position.
Close valve C. In the hot water system, one of the hot water tap should be left
open to avoid vacuum in the system.
 Open drain valve E.
When all water in the tank is drained, close the drain valve E.
To clean the calorifier tank, open the cold portable water flow for
approximately 1 hour.

Fault Finding
Always disconnect the power supply before opening the control panel.
If too little hot water, check for water leaks.
Turn up TS. TS is an adjustable thermostat range from 45C to 75C. Factory
preset is 60C.
 Check the temperature gauge.
If only cold water, press and reset TU. TU is a safety thermostat.
 Turn down TS approx 5C.
 Check fuses
If fault still persist, the electrical element or thermostat is faulty. Change.
Moisture around the calorifier base, tighten heating element K and all other
connections.

Important Notes
Follow the directions of use as described in this procedure carefully.
It is important to perform free expansion of the calorifier tank by flushing the
tank and remove vacuum in the system as described in maintenance section.
To be performed after 3 months of operation and then annually.
All connections has to be checked periodically, including heating element K
and all electrical connections
