Message from Dr.Ted Rubesh

The Old Testament prophets were an institution raised up by God to guard the
faithfulness of God's people to His covenant. False religion constantly threatened the
Hebrew nation with enticing alternatives to God's revealed truth, often dressed up as
fresh revelation from Jehovah Himself. The prophets were watch for this and challenge it,
and to constantly remind the God's people of the truth revealed to them in the Old
Testament.
The church in Sri Lanka today, like the Israelites of old, is constantly being threatened
from within by tantalizing teachings that come sugar-coated with a veneer of Scripture,
but have little to do with the true Gospel. Part of Lanka Bible College's calling and
responsibility is to raise up Biblically literate leaders who are theologically aware and
doctrinally perceptive.
Paul warned us in 2 Timothy 4:3 that a time will come when people will not put up with
sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great
number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. Seldom has this been
truer in Sri Lanka than today! Taking its cue from Paul, LBC will not shrink from declaring
the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27). May we be faithful to that calling, and to the
Gospel we have called to declare.
