To read total copies: Hold down STOP/RESET key for 5 sec. Display will show F23
And will display total count.
Copy quality adjustment: See user mode and simulations.
Drum replacement: Remove imaging unit by doing the following: Remove cassette and open
front door, bypass door and paper conveying unit. Remove toner and waste toner bottler,
remove 2 screws
Holding waste toner cover and 1 screw holding developer retainer. Remove 2 screws from
image unit and slide out image unit. Remove charge corona by removing 1 screw in front and
removing. Remove drum blade spring, 2 screws in the front and 2 screws in the rear of the
cleaner unit and rotate cleaner unit away from the developer unit to access drum
(revision 12/31/04)*. Open cleaning unit and put a spacer in at rear to hold the blade away from
the drum. Remove screws in front that hold drum ground plate and remove plate. Remove ering from drum shaft. Remove 1 screw for upper developer seal and remove seal. Slide out
drum shaft. Lift out drum. New drum will have a letter code on it. Write down this number to
enter in simulation 109. After installing drum and reassembling machine, do simulations
U109,U110,U11.

Developer replacement & calibration: Remove drum as described above. Remove 1 screw and
washer. Lift 3 hooks upward and slide DV unit section cover off. Empty developer and replace.
Service manual says you can leave drum installed. Perform maintenance mode 130.

JAM CODES
J00, J15, J20, J21, J22, J30, J40, J50: paper jams in left side of machine.
J70, J72, J73: Document feeder jam.
J95: paper feed jam in left side.
J96: Charge corona problem.
J97: image decompression.
J98: BD laser problem.
Note: J95, J96, J97 and J98 can display as a result of electrical noise.

Simulations
Maintenance mode.

Simulation procedure: Press these keys in this order (and keep holding them down):
STOP/RESET+START+Left DENSITY key. Press STOP/RESET again.
Then, enter the code number with the number keys or the zoom keys. Press the START key,
after the item is run or tested, press STOP / RESET. Exit the mode with 001.
In most cases, if theres a choice of things to do, items to test, etc. use the COPY EXPOSURE
keys to make the selection. In certain items, use the zoom +/- keys to select the ON setting.

Note: Some codes might not apply to Kyocera 1505.

U111 Check and clear drum timer (minutes)


U130 Developer calibration: Press START. Will run for 2.5 min. and then will
display settings. This will also reset Toner sensor control voltage (U131),
renew toner feed start level(U156), clear developer drive time (U157), clear
developer count (U158) and reset toner feed start level and toner empty
detection. Press STOP/RESET when done.

between feed start and empty level.
Check or clear developer drive time.

(done automatically in 130).

Fuser temperature. Normal is 125 stabilization is 180.
Forced fuser stabilizing. Puts the machine into READY without heat.
Reset fuser errors. Press START. CLE will display, press START
again to clear.
Will apply toner to drum and clean at every paper interval (applies
only to 1505 model)
Turn fuser lamp ON using START.
Display fuser temperature (Exp1) and room temperature (Exp3)
Light up panel LEDs
Test ADF. Exp1 with paper.Exp3 without paper (continuous).
Test operation panel keys
Paper size. Exp1 for standard cassette. Exp 3 for optional cassette.
Test ADF motors, clutches, solenoids. Exp1 for pickup. Exp2 for
conveying.
Test ADF feed switches. Each one will give a different indicator in the
display.
Set PM cycle. Press START to display (x1k), change value with zoom
keys. Press START to lock in. Note: It is unclear what the difference
is between this and U345. Does not apply to 1505. be aware of this.
Check and clear PM count (copies since last PM and PM reset).
Press START press Exp1 to change first 3 digits. Press Exp3 to
change last 3 digits use zoom keys to change settings of the 6 digits
or press Exp5 to clear the count. Press START. Does not apply to
1505.
Destination.
Auto start function ON/OFF
Set auto clear time. 0 is no autoclear time. Otherwise up to 270 sec.
Auto preheat/energy save ON/OFF
Toner empty will allow single copying or multiple depending on
setting. Use zoom keys to select sin (single) or con (continuous) if set
to con. Machine will allow 70 copies. You can change this from 0200.
Change copy count timing point (exit or secondary feed).
Print product name on customer printout/reports if set to 0. No name
if set to 2. Does not apply to 1505
Setting black ratio for 81/2 x 11 paper. Requires serv. Manual.
Limits internal exit tray to 100 sheets if set to ON. No limit if set to
OFF. Does not apply to 1505.
PM Due setting. Exp1 for first 3 digits (range 0-9) Exp3 for last 3
digits (range 000-999). Change value with zoom keys+START.
Note: Also check U250.
Copy density range adjustment. SPC is 5 steps for enlargement. NrL

is normal, for normal copying.


U402 Image printing margin adjustment. Exp1 for printer lead edge. Exp3
for printer left/right. Exp5 for printer trail edge. Exp1 flashing for
printer trail edge of non standard size paper from cassette. Exp3
flashing for printer trail edge of non standard size paper from bypass.
Change settings with zoom keys. Press START to lock in. Press
STOP/RESET to exit.
U403 Adjust margins for reading an original on platen glass.
U404 Adjust margins for reading via ADF.
U407 Adjust lead edge registration for memory image printing. Same
procedure as U034.
U901 Check and clear copy counts for various feed stations.
U903 Check and clear jam counts. Display by pressing exposure keys to
see CLE. Clears all counts at once.
U904 Check and clear service call counters. Unlike U903 you can clear
individually, or all-at-once.
U905 Check and clear document feeder counter. Exp1 is first 3 digits, exp3
Is last 3, Exp5 clearscount.
U910 Clear black ratio data. Press START select ON with zoom keys,
press START.
U917 Read/write backup data. Using zoom keys, select rd for read, rE for
write.
U990 Check and clear time exposure lamp has been lit. Exp1 is first 3 digits
Exp3 is last 3. Exp5 clears count.
U992 Clear printer counter. Exp1 is first 3 digits. Exp3 is last 3. Exp5 clears
count.
U993 Print VTC-PG pattern. 0 is center line adj. Pattern. 1 is graph paper. 2
is solid black.
U998 Print out memory list. Exp1 for bit 16 to bit 23. Exp3 for bit 8 to bit 15.
Exp 5 for bit 0 to bit 7.
1505/1510/1810 User modes
These are not service modes. They are accessible to the customer and are described in the
owners
Manual.
Hold down both exposure (density) keys for 3 sec. Until F00 displays. Select code with zoom
keys. Change value with zoom keys or number keys. Lock in by pressing zoom input/enter key.
1505/1510/1810 User modes Common programming:
F01 Print default of user codes
F02 Select image mode: 1 is auto exposure,2 is text/photo
3 is photo, 4 is text.
F03 Exposure steps. 1 is 3 step. 2 is 5 step
