FOLLOWING ARE THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR UGC NET EXAM

Educational Requirements:- UGC NET Examination is basically for those

aspirants who are willing to pursue their career in the field of education as a
professor or lecturer hence to be able to fill out the application candidates
must have completed masters with minimum 55% marks whereas the
percentage is relaxed by 5% for SC,ST,OBC candidates. However students
appearing for the final examination of masters can also fill the application of
this examination.

Age:- There is maximum age limit of 28 years old if candidate is applying

for the post of JRF which may further be relaxed up to 5 years for the
candidates belonging to OBC (Non-creamy layer, as per the Central list of
OBC /SC/ST/PWD categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be
provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period
spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree,
subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from
appropriate authority. Three years relaxation in age will be permissible to

the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above
ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.
Assistant Professor:- There is no upper age limit for applying for
eligibility for Assistant Professor.

Paper 1 is of 100 marks. And time allotted for this paper is one hour and
fifteen minutes. This Paper is based on general knowledge, research

Paper 2 is of 100 marks .This paper consists of objective question from
English literature. Time duration for this paper is also one hour and fifteen
minutes. Paper three, which is to be held in the second half , is of 200 marks.
Time for this paper is two hours and thirty minutes. Objective type question

paper.
PAPER 3. is also based on English literature. The candidates can apply for
both Junior Research Fellowship and lectureship or for lectureship only. The
Upper age limit for JRF Is twenty eight year and there is no upper age limit
For Lectureship.

THERE IS NO NEGATIVE MARKING.

The main subjects in which the exam is taken are Computer
