Davis County CSD - April 5th Bond

Issue
Shall the Board of Directors of the Davis County Community
School District in the Counties of Davis and Van Buren, State of
Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General
Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $6,000,000 to
provide funds to renovate, remodel, repair, improve, furnish and
equip the existing athletic stadium and existing locker rooms, and
to improve the site; to build, furnish and equip a West Sport
Complex, to include baseball and softball fields and to improve the
site; to resurface the Districts tennis courts; to renovate, remodel,
repair, improve furnish and equip the old Art Room and existing
classrooms adjacent to the existing Gym into locker rooms,; and
to renovate, remodel, repair, improve, furnish and equip the
existing Music Room?
Community Feedback from September 8, 2015 Bond Issue:

Too expensive $9.6 million too much for DC Citizens

Indecisive. Plan needs to be clear and decisive.
Need construction expert from DC to review costs &
estimates.
Planning guidance to Citizens Committee:
1. Reduce overall cost to between $5 & $6 million. (reduced
cost)
2. Plan to build a high quality 6 lane track. (decisive)
3. Fix FB field drainage problem. No major change to turf.
(decisive)
4. Keep Home stands on North side. Add ADA compliant eating.
Replace concessions and restroom areas. (decisive &
considerate of physically challenged)

5. Use most feasible option for locker room renovation.

(reallocation of space is more cost efficient and improves ADA
accessibility)
6. Postpone new music room until SAFE room application is
approved. Improve storage, heating/cooling, communication,

& general appearance of current room. (reduced overall cost,

improved existing structure)
7. Reduce cost of Baseball and Softball field development
(reduced cost)
8. Reduce cost of Tennis Court renovation (reduced cost & improved
infrastructure)

NOTE: DC enlisted help from local construction expert to

oversee construction estimates. Expert validated process
used by construction team.
