Royal United Metal & Glass LLC, is the regions leading Architectural Aluminium facade
specialist.
Established in 1990 as aluminium doors & windows manufacturer, Royal United Metal &
Glass started a concerted diversification programme in 2015 that resulted in the creation of
a group of integrated operating divisions in U.A.E and Jordon.
The companys skilled craftsmen are capable of producing more than 25,000m2 per month
of Aluminium Curtain wall, doors and windows per month to the highest standard of quality.
Using the latest technologies and techniques, they ensure that Royal Metal & Glass products
continue to enjoy a reputation for excellence.
Line managers and quality control staff carefully check every step of the production process,

Mr. K.S Sanal Kumar, a reputed business magnate of the Middle
East, is chairman of the Company. He has years of experience in
financial and personnel management and marketing in corporate
enterprises. He is a multi-faceted personality with a sixth sense
in the complex market place of the globalised economy. He is
also the Chairman and Managing Director of the biggest garment
manufacturing company in Jordon, Classic Fashion Apparel
Industry, giving direct employment to over 15,000 and achieving
an annual turnover of USD 254 million in 2014. He is chartered
Accountant with membership in prestigious ICAL.

Mr. Achyuth Krishnan, Managing Director, had a challenging sting
at one of the outstanding companies in Middle East and acquired
clear and practical concepts and convictions on Lean
Manufacturing, ERP systems, and Control systems, Project
Management, Administration and Human Resource Management,
among many other core areas. He had taken a postgraduate
degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University
of Southern California, Los Angeles, after graduating with
specialization in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani.

Mr. Sreedharan Nair Ramdas is the Director of the company. He
is and engineering graduate and has years of experience in
establishing, developing and maintaining industrial facilities and is
well conversant with all the aspects of property development
including construction of warehouses, convention centres, banks,

malls. He is also serving as the Managing Director of Classic
Builders and Developments and as Vive- President of Classic
Fashion Apparel Industries, in Jordon.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this method statement is to define the procedure to be used by Royal
United Metal and Glass LLC to ensure that the design, fabrication and installation of the
curtainwall, glazing and cladding is carried out sticky in accordance with the following.
Approved design drawing.
Supervision and presence of M/s Royal United Metal and Glass LLC.
Necessary quality controls and documentation,
Silicon manufacturer instructions and recommendation.
Safety regulations of the employer.

CURTAIN WALLING, WINDOWS AND DOORS

This method statement covers (General) and specific activities of curtain walling, windows
and doors design, manufacturing and installation.

DEFINATION (SHORT DESCRIPTION).

Curtain Walls are defined as being non-load bearing walls designed to provide a filtering
envelope for a building. Their own dead-weight and the wind forces which acts on them are
transferred to the building structure through anchorage points.
The initial design is to maintain the visual appearance in line with the Architect/Consultants
design and as well as to meet the requisite standards of resistance to air/water penetration,
thermal performance , U-value and sound reduction etc., all as specified in Project
Specification.
The faade design will be done as per the parameter stated in the specification and curtain
walls and details shown on the architectural drawings.
In general the curtain wall design will meet international standards (BS/DIN) and will comply
with the building regulations.

SUBMITTALS AND APPROVALS.


Design:
a. Stick System curtain walling by Royal United Metal based on the Alumil
systems.
b. Metal Cladding by Royal United Metal & Glass.
c. Skylight by Royal United Metal based on the Alumil systems.
d. Other works e.g. Louvres, doors, and windows etc., Royal United Metal &
Glass.
Shop Drawings:
Typical and specific elevations, sectional details, interface details, layout etc. for
each area/block will be submitted to the architect/consultant for their review
and approval as per programme of works and ion accordance with specification.
All interface details will be co-ordinated with the Main Contractor.
Shop drawings will be of full size details of fabrication, assembly and installation
showing actual material thickness/gauge, type and description of material and
supplier/Manufacturers name etc. for curtain wall, doors and windows.
Structural Calculations:
Mullions/transoms, brackets, fixing anchors, inserts, supporting sub-structure
etc. will be designed and thoroughly checked in accordance with the
data/standards specified in Project specification, performance requirements and
in-line with the international curtain wall industry norms/standards.
Glass and Glazing:
This depends on the consultants specifications and requirements which will be
sticky followed. Standard warranties from Suppliers/Manufacturers will be
provided.
Maintenance Manual and As-Built Drawings:
Upon completion of curtainwall installation (at the time of final handing over).we
will submit 4 set of Maintenance Manual and As-Built Drawings.
Maintenance manual will include:
Operation Principles and Sequence.
Periodic inspection and maintenance.
Parts/Component list.
Glass list with sizes and descriptions of glass.
Tool and Equipment list.
Re-glazing/Replacement of components method statement.

As-Build Drawings:
All approved the shop drawings will be reviewed & coordinated with the Site
staff Project Management Staff and amended as required to show the actual asbuilt condition on Site Prior to submitting as part of Maintenance Manual.
General Guidelines for Maintenance and Cleaning of Curtain walling.
Glass Maintenance:
The following are recommendation from the Glass Manufacturer for
maintenance and cleaning for this project:
The glass should never be cleaned in direct sunlight.
Only clean cloth and mild liquid detergent should be used to clean the glass.
The detergent should be only mildly alkaline or neutral. After washing, the
glass should be rinsed off with clean water and then wiped dry. No abrasive
cleaners or ammonia solution should be used.
If there is any staining of the glass from any means which produce a mark,
then supplier must be contacted immediately to come for an inspection and
to advice on remedial action.
The cradle should not be used when the conditions are windy to reduce the
possibility of a breakage.
If any fogging within the double glazed cavity occurs, the supplier must be
informed immediately.
Water should not be allowed to stand on the silicon.
For more information, refer to the Glass manufactures maintenance
instructions.
Aluminium:
Aluminium should be cleaned only with a soft cloth or with a solution containing
a mild non-alkaline liquid detergent.
Silicon:
From Tremco or equal approved.
Samples:
Samples of materials, components, glazing, finishes etc. in accordance with the
specification will be submitted for architect/consultants review and approval.

MATERIALS.

Extrusions:
All aluminium extrusions will be made from aluminium alloy 6063-T5 as per British
Standards for Architectural aluminium curtainwall, doors and windows.

Extrusion shall be produced according to tolerance stated in DIN standard-1748 part 4. All
extrusion shall be checked for proper relationship with matching profiles, components and
assembly.
Extrusion will be procured within GCC Countries.
Sheet Metal Cladding:
Aluminium sheet:
Aluminium sheet of adequate thickness to suit the requirement and purpose of use will be
procured from a reputed manufacturer. Aluminium alloy for the sheet shall be 1050 and
temper for thickness from 0.4mm to 1.5mm will be H14 and from 1.5mm to 3mm thickness
will be H24.
Fabrication:
Hydraulic brake presses will be used for sheet stock blanking, forming and edge bending.
Gauges and special tool, jigs will be used to ensure dimensional accuracy. Sheets will be
checked for flatness, width and length; visible surfaces will be free of unacceptable scratches,
marks or other blemishes. Flatness buckling and other such distortions will be confirmed to
aluminium standards and data tolerance for sheets.
Glass and Glazing:
Specified and approved insulated double glazed units for vision and spandrel areas will be
provided. Performance data will be provided upon selection of exterior pane of double
glazed units (by architect/consultant).
Gaskets:
All the gaskets will be high performance EPDM gaskets with bonded / vulcanised corners,
all in accordance to B.S and DIN standards.
Sealants:
Neutral silicones from TREMCO or equal approved which are compatible with other
surfaces and materials will be used. Suggested sealant material sample with back-up
literature and catalogue will be submitted for architects/Consultant review and comments.
Typical details, showing type of joints and sealant will be submitted to the manufacturer for
their review and comments and same will be forwarded to the architect/consultant for their
review and approval. The colour of the sealant will be as approved by the
architect/consultant from the manufacturers standard range. Joint filler, back-up material
will be closed cell polyethylene form.

Finishes:
As per the specifications. The coated material will be protected with special low tec
protection tape.

MATERIALS

Access routes and Methods:


Traffic access use of Site and services, rules and regulations as agreed with the Main
Contractor and instructed by local authority will be followed.
Handling and storage:
a. General.
This section intends to cover all operations from opening wood boxes at site, assembly
to installations in final locations of the units.
b. Protection to Metal and Storage.
All finish metal work will be protected with the protection tape, packed and stored in
wooden boxes at site.
Weather seal, backing rods, gaskets insulators etc. will be stored as per
manufacturers recommendation (Covered area).
Every wooden box will have its own packing list showing the contents of
components which clearly labelled with manufacturers code number for easy
identification and traceability.
c. Assembly drawings and code numbers.
Fabrication and assembly drawings will be showing components parts, code number to
avoid wrong assembly or misplacing of material and in order to minimize the risk of
damage during unpacking of components.
d. Erection Quality Control Check List.
Inspection will be done in line with the installation quality control check list of
components prior to their use. All damages will be recorded and remedial procedure
will be agreed prior to incorporation in works.
e. Storage.
Storage containers on site will be used to store accessories, tools etc. These stores will
be carrying a minimum stock of accessories for two weeks requirement and rest will be
stored in main stares and warehouses.

Scaffolding, Cranage, Hoist and Tower cranes:


Tower crane from the Min Contractor will be used time to time. Cranage hours and
requirement will be coordinated with the Main contractor on weekly basis. Tower crane
will be used mainly for off-loading of material from trucks and for distribution of the
materials up to floors.
Hoist for the movement of labour and materials to be provided by Main Contractor (FOC).
Cradles, working platforms will be provided in accordance with the agreed terms and
Conditions.

company. For this, quality raw materials are sourced from most reliable sources,
quality checks are conducted at all stages of fabrication and installation and final
check is done to ensure that the whole edifice is zero-defective. Any error is
immediately noticed and corrected.

Quality Markings
In Process/Final Inspections done in the factory are carried out in accordance with
Factory Inspection Test Plan and recorded in appropriate format (Material
Inspection Report, Glass Inspection Sheet and Product Inspection Sheet. Semifinished or finished items which are identified as non-conformances are put on hold
and separated for corrections and accordingly corrective action is planned.
