Customizable Reporting - Traditional reporting products try to predetermine the types of reports an
organization will need, but since everybodys requirements are unique, the goal is never fully achieved. At ENow,
we understand this challenge and have decided to take a new approach to providing reports; we start with
delivering over 160 of the most commonly-requested reports in our Reports Library, and then go one step further
by giving you the ability to either customize these reports or create an entirely brand new one. The ENow
Management System gives you endless creative freedom when it comes to the types of reports you can create and
how you can disseminate them throughout your organization. (See the diagram on page 6)

Architecture
The ENow Management System version 7.0 contains four components, the ENow Administration Console, the
ENow Web Server, the ENow Client, and the ENow One-Look Dashboard. The first component is the ENow
Administration Console; it is responsible for the configuration, report management, and controls dashboard
access. The ENow Web Server is responsible for displaying the One-Look Dashboard. The ENow Client is installed
on Exchange, Domain Controller, SharePoint, BlackBerry server in the organization; it is responsible for reporting
data to the ENow Web Server component. The output of these transactions can be viewed in real-time in the ENow
One-Look Dashboard from any machine or device with a compatible internet browser.
Installation Overview
The ENow Management System 7.0 installation is a simple four step process.
1.
2.
3.
4.
First the ENowWebServerSetup.exe is used to install the ENow Web Server site on your IIS web server.
(see page 13) Please keep in mind that the ENow Web Server site should be installed on an IIS web
server that is part of the same domain as the Exchange or BlackBerry Enterprise server. The ENow
Server web site should not be installed on an IIS web server that is already configured as an Exchange
server, Domain Controller, or WSUS server.
Once all the installation is complete, the administrator is able to take complete control of the ENow
Management System 7.0 configuration by logging into the ENow Administration Console. (see page 18)
Next, begin using the ENowClientSetup.exe to install the ENow Client on each Exchange server, Domain
Controller, SharePoint 2010 server, and/or BlackBerry server in your organization. (see page 20)
Finally, open internet Explorer and browse to the ENow One-Look Dashboard for all of your monitoring
and reporting needs. (see page 24)

Local Admin
To integrate with SQL and enable the ENow Management Systems enhanced reporting features, it is
recommended that a dedicated instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or higher be available in your Exchange
Domain. If your environment has less than 750 mailboxes and you plan to keep 6 months of historical data in
your SQL database, then you may proceed to install a free Edition of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express Edition.

the following Exchange 2007/2010 health checks: Edge-Hub Communication, Outlook Anywhere, Mail Flow, MAPI
connectivity, & Cluster Health. The Mailscape Admin Service* is responsible for executing these health checks by
running role specific cmdlets periodically.

Edge-Hub Active Directory Status(Exchange 2007 & 2010)
Network status checks are now available to help you make sure that the communication link between the servers
and vital services in your Domain are running properly.
The DNS and Active Directory Ping tests are conducted periodically and the interval to run the tests can be
configured in the Mailscape Administration Console. If these tests result in a failure, please double to make sure
that Ping is enabled. If the DNS test result in a failure, please make sure that the servers network adapters are
configured to point to the active DNS servers.
The Mailscape Connectivity tests are run to ensure that the Mailscape Agent is up and running. If this test results
in a warning or critical alert, please check the server and make sure that the Mailscape Agent service is running
and set to start automatically.
The Edge-Hub Active Directory Status network test is only available only from the Exchange 2007 & 2010 HUB
Transport Servers.
The AD Replication tests are the first glimpse into the overall health of the multiple sites within a Domain and the
interval to run the tests can be configured in the Mailscape Administration Console. If the AD Replication tests
result in a Warning or Critical state, we recommend using the REPADMIN utility to gather additional information
from the Domain Controller(s) in question.

APPENDIX:
Mailscape For Office 365 Exchange Online prerequisites are as follows:
The ENow Web server component must be installed on 64 bit edition of Windows server 2008 or higher.
The Service account for the Office 365 service requires Domain Admin rights.
From the web server, download and install the Microsoft Online Services Sign-In Assistant
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39267 and the Microsoft Online Services
Module for Windows PowerShell https://msdn.microsoft.com/enus/library/azure/jj151815.aspx#bkmk_installmodule
Run the MS Online PowerShell via the desktop shortcut and Set-ExecutionPolicy UnRestricted.
A dedicated online account is required and must have "Global Admin" permission and must have a
mailbox enabled in order for Auto Discovery to work. This is due to the fact that each account has a limit
of 3 PowerShell sessions, and Mailscape uses 2 of these sessions.

1. Install the ENow Namespace Monitor Setup.exe. Specify a local administrator account when prompted.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to configure the users for the OWA/ECP, EWS and ActiveSync tests.
5. Name the namespace, and then enter the EWS URL for this namespace.
6. To obtain the URL, run Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory. Use the URL that matches the internal URL.
7. Next, make sure to change the EWS, EAS, and OWA URLs in the file to match what is seen in the environment.
8. Make sure to note whether forms based or basic authentication is used. If forms based authentication is being
used, be sure to change the authentication type to forms.
9. Once the Namespace has been named and the URL set, save the xml file.

<Servers>
<Server name='ServerName' />
<Server name='ServerName' />
<Server name='ServerName' />
</Servers>
11. This is where you input the server names of members of the DAG for this Namespace. The servers must be
listed here or they will not display properly. For example, if the members of your DAG were MBX01, MBX02, and
MBX03, the file should be configured as seen below:
<Servers>
<Server name='MBX01' />
<Server name='MBX02' />
<Server name='MBX03' />
</Servers>
13. Copy the file, and paste it into the \Program Files (x86)\ENow\MailscapeWeb\MailscapeData\Database folder.

On a deeper level, Compass will take advantage of Windows built in diagnostic tools to monitor LDAP expensive
queries. An LDAP search is considered expensive if it has to visit a large number of objects in Active Directory. The
default threshold for an expensive query is 10,000. That means any search that visits 10,000 or more objects
would be considered expensive. In order to monitor this Compass will take advantage of Event Logging, which
allows you to determine if you have expensive searches.
To enable logging the Server Active Directory Diagnostic Event Logging must be enabled. On each Domain
Controller to be monitored for expensive queries a registry value must be changed. The registry entry that
manages diagnostic logging for Active Directory is stored in the following registry subkey:
The network administrator will navigate to
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters
And creating the following DWORD value Expensive Search Results Threshold. This can then be set to the
desired value.
Enabling the diagnostic logging of LDAP will alert the network administrator if there is a misbehaving application
on the network and identifying and reducing expensive queries will have your A\D environment running at peak
performance. Please see the
Our Support Engineers are available from 5am-5pm Pacific Time to assist you with this configuration, please call
or email to schedule an appointment enabling this feature.
