Intro:
Welcome to my 2nd FAQ, I intend this FAQ to cover getting not only the platinum of the
game but eventually getting every unlockable as well. Right now this guide is not complete I
still need to cover Night Crawling, fishing, swords and minor jobs and likely need to check
and make sure a lot of these things are 100% correct so feel free to contribute my info is at
the bottom of this FAQ.
Spoiler warning! There are small spoilers here and there, my endings are bare minimum and
I never really describe the plot in the events however be warned that some facts will come out
and ruin events, try to get things yourself 1st it's part of this game!
Controls
You can see the basic controls in the main menu under Manual before selecting new game or
load, so this is to explain in detail what you need to know.
Basic gameplay controls are left stick for movement, right stick camera control. direction
buttons are used to select items/ sword and stances mid battle.
Fighting controls: L1 draws or sheathes your sword. Square and triangle are both used to
attack, you can check what your current style can do by going into the menu, go to styles and
select your equipped style. It shows moves with arrows, this is not referring to left and right,
if the arrow points left such as left + square it means to pull the direction stick away from the
enemy and hit square. Right would mean towards the enemy.
R2: R2 brings up the quick change menu, the most important option in here is reversing your
sword. When you reserve your sword you can't kill the enemy and do damage to their vitality
instead of life. You can also switch swords, styles go unarmed and dual weild here, so get
used to what does what if you want to be able to switch quickly in battle.
L2: L2 lets you free run during battle, it's extremely helpful in you're ignoring combat during
events, or trying to pick up an item, style or sword.
Jumping You jump with circle. Apart from a few shortcuts there's really never a good reason
to jump. Some attacks are done mid-air, must notably guns have a quick and powerful midair attack.
Talking: In and out of battle using the X button lets you talk to someone when the chat
bubble is on screen. Some events require you to use this function to end a battle without
someone dying, so during the 1st event try hitting X to see what it does.
Kicking: With R1 and square together your samurai will do a small kick. In battle this can be
used to interrupt an enemy (or do good damage with the Big Shot charm). More importantly
it makes your samurai pick up any items or/ and swords you end up kicking. This is
especially useful at the end of scenes to pick up the enemies sword or style before the game
transitions to another scene.
Spring Harvest: During battle hold R1 and hit L1 to go into spring harvest mode, you hit
harder and break guard easily in this mode.
How to Play
So we're just starting our adventure in Amihama and have no idea what to do! To help I'm
going to hopefully give you a good idea.
Gameplay basics
Some basic non-combat concepts to help you understand what to do before and after the
initial tutorial events:
Difficulty
This game at it's core is action/ adventure. However your sword can be leveled and needs to
be leveled for normal and more so hard. Start your 1st game on easy, it's not a matter of skill
or ability you just simply do not have a sword that will make any ending possible on normal.
Using the default weapon on easy without upgrades would be pretty hard at that.
Easy can be done with a sword around 50 attack, normal you want 100ish, hard probably
300+ and Harikiri mode you want the max attack of 500.
Events
When you start you're already in the middle of an event, events happen in certain areas and at
certain times of day. What and when can be easily figured out by going into the menu,
selecting journal then events. This shows a flow chart of all the events, including where
you're at so you can figure out what to do next for the faction you're working for.
I've detailed all events in my Events section, but feel free to experiment it's half the fun of
this game!
Vitality and Life
If you look at the lower left corner of your screen you'll see 2 bars: 1 purple, 1 green. The
green bar is your life, if this runs out you die. The purple bar is new to WotS4 its vitality, and
a few things affect it.
1st when you're injured the life bar is restored after a few seconds of not attacking/ being
attacked at the cost of vitality, so as you can imagine having 0 vitality in a battle is a bad
thing. Vitality can also be depleted by spamming powerful attacks (moves that use triangle
mainly) as well as quick traveling costs 100 vitality each time you travel. Some styles have
an ability to reduce vitality costs, including quick travel.
Now the big question: How to keep vitality up? Eating and sleep restore a lot, you can sleep
outside on marked locations as well as in the inn on Main Plaza . Also the charm Life &
Death on a sword makes you restore vitality as you stand still, see the Smith section for more
details on creating Charms.
Where to start
As I mentioned above your starting sword sucks... right now. It has 5 attack power and 1/9
degradation which means it can be good, we just gotta spend some of those degradation
points to up its base stats, so let's make it better!
In the town area is the Smith, for a fee he can make the sword stronger or more durable. So to
get some upgrades we need some cash. If you speak to the random people walking around
they can give you jobs to get the cash you need. Upgrade the durability once if you want (it
does help) but what we want to get to right away is 50-75 attack, enough to stand a chance
against the named characters.
Once I finish the jobs section you can find out about all the jobs and how to compete them.
At this time I can really only say after accepting a job, save and try things.. if it doesn't go
well restart.
After getting that initial sword, check the events under journal then events. This shows the
flow chart, following this you can on your own get many of the games endings without any
difficulty. I do seriously recommend trying things on your own, this guide will be here later if
you can't figure something out.
In-game reset
Well there isn't exactly one... however if you ever want to quickly restart the game there are
two options:
1) Go to the harbor, in the south west area where you start you can speak to the boatman and
choice to leave Amihama. Just don't save when given the option.
2) Exit and restart the game. I find this is a lot faster and despite going though the menus I
can generally do this faster then leaving in game, especially if you're in forced combat.
Network
If you want to try fight off other players characters (not controlled by them), at the bottom of
the menu under options, is a setting called network settings. Here you can enable it so others
can invade your world and your character will invade other worlds.
Boxes
When a box drops on you or an enemy you take massive damage. To this end you can in fact
throw boxes to do massive damage to enemies, it's hard to do and probably never worth it...
but kindva funny.
Also destroying boxes is as easy as jumping on them.
Combat basics
Below are some tips to help with combat. Not the be all end all but some things to help those
new to the series.
In previous Way of the Samurai games square was a basic move you'd mainly only use when
your sword was too hot or was a new blade. In this game square can be the main attack and
likely should be as well.
Square is your lighter attacks, generally are faster but do less damage. Triangle related moves
on the other hand can do a lot of damage but also drain your vitality. So which should you
use? Both, just be aware of where your vitality is at since running out can easily mean death.
Blocking and Dodging
R1 blocks most normal attacks. There are powerful moves that break guards, as well grabs
cannot be guarded against. Now if you're forced to take a hit it's better to dodge, with the
guard button held down, using the direction buttons + circle makes your samurai hop away
from danger. I highly recommend getting used to dodging since on hard and more so on
Harikiri mode enemies can one shot you and not being hit is a lot better then hoping to guard
it.
Pushing and Pulling
If the enemy is guarding, using forward moves can break their guard if their aren't pulling
away from you. Using moves that use back when attacking can knock people off balance if
they're not pulling.
This can be complex, but basically what you need to know from pushing and pulling is that
when you guard you can try to push and pull. Moving the stick towards the enemies or away
from them when they attack you will put them off balance depending on the move they use.
I'm not great at this, mainly because the dodging system in this game is great. Why take a
move when you can jump out of the way?
Spring Harvest
You activate Spring Harvest by holding guard (R1) and hitting L1. You attack faster, most of
your attacks break guard and get a nice cinematic end when you either sheathe your sword
with L1 or re-hold R1 hitting L1 to keep your sword out.
In the middle of your life/ vitality is your spring harvest gauge, it needs to be at least 50% full
to activate and slowly depletes as you use it. It fill with time and also with kill both while
using spring harvest and outside.
Certain items really help maintaining spring harvest. Chocolate is my favorite, it makes you
gain more gauge for 2 minutes which normally means you can use your spring harvest for the
rest of the battle you're in. The Amana Mushroom is also a great item, it does the same as
chocolate but for only 30 seconds, it also gives you 500 extra points (50%) so you can right
away rip into any enemy around.
Styles
Style is a moveset and unlike previous titles in the series it's separate from the sword. In
battle when you're not mid-animation you can change your style in the menu. Also styles can
have multiply movesets, only 2 of the default in game ones I know of have multiply movesets
but custom sets can have up to 3 different stances in one style.
Making a custom stance requires a blank book (can be purchased in the casino, as well as
Dojima sells them after the tournament with a great crime rate) and being the owner of the
Dojo. The Old Fossil will help you create your own style of destruction.
Free Run
As mentioned above free running is done by holding the L2 button. Why do it in battle?
Ignoring enemies is the 1st reason, but I've found that enemies that are armed with guns will
get off a shot or two when approaching them the normal way, using free run you're faster and
can get right next to them sometimes before they get a single shot off.
Town Overview
Below is a list of all the area and significant facilities, the shops and job brokers in each area.
Little Britain
The area for the Foreigners to gather and not make any sense for your character (until you get
the Language School up and running)
Consulate Located at the very north of the area, this is where you'll find the british
characters of the game most of the time.
Hospital Not functioning to begin with and located in the south eastern corner of this area.
Hospital is needed for certain events, and while it's up all items cost 10% more.
Gramps job giver The king of the homeless! Gramps gives you jobs that help the homeless of
the city, these are mostly good intended with some bloody results. He's right in the middle
(somewhat south east) below the tracks.
Lost and Found shop When you 1st come across this guy beside Gramps below the tracks,
he won't be able to sell you anything. The only things he can sell you are items you've lost
when you died on a previous playthough, so hopefully he get little to no business from you.
Some unlockable are also sold here.
Sweets shop Located on the western side of the map you 1st need to english to use this
shop. And as it's name suggests, you get sweets here.
Cemetery
Really nothing noteworthy here, Dojima starts here unless on a previous playthough you got
him to be the blacksmith.
If you face off against another player and they *ahem* cheat their way to victory... when you
select retry a "revenge horse" will be here (literally a horse) and when you talk to it you can
offer to get revenge which enables you to fight against that player again.
Back Roads
Nothing too special about this area, quests happen and are started here.
Teahouse in the middle of the map lets you eat some food.
Also of note is there is a place in the middle of the map where you can jump done into the
Magistrate area, this is the only one way and is kindva funny when you use it.
Sensei is also located here in the beginning of the game, near the sleep location on the east
side of the map.
Magistrate
Home of the magistrates/ the center of law in town.
Used Goods A shop with various goods, how food can be used somewhat worries me about
what I'm going to end up feeding my samurai... I'm sure he can take it though.
Nodobotoke Middle of the map he gives you missions that are against the Yakuza. Really
more about him pushing his job on you, but completely the missions help order regardless.
Sakotsu Located above Nodobotoke he lets you know what the order in the city is, as well
hates Yakuza a lot and is willing to repeatedly pay you to massacre Yakuza, 25 to 100 at a
time depending on the crime rate.
Main Plaza
The city hub, plenty of events end up happening here
Inn Umeya In the north west side of this area, for a fee you get a different type of room
healing 500, 750, or 1000 Health/Stamina. Staying here instead of sleeping outside also
increases the towns Order.
Curio Shop (Tanukiya) On the west side of town heading toward the Town this place will sell
you hair styles, clothing and some accessories.
Restaurant (Low-end) In the north East side, eat here for recovery.
Town
This is the home of some of the most important thing, the smith as well the dojo you can be
in charge of.
Dojo Located in the south western corner when you enter here you can choose to become
the master of the dojo. Check the Dojo Section for help on what to do here.
Smithy In the south slightly East you can find the smith, he can strengthen your sword help
you create new ones but most importantly is the only cheap way to repair a sword. Check
the Smith Section for help knowing what does what.
Language School In the very south eastern corner is the school that somehow makes you
instantly understand english when opened. It's closed at 1st and you have to complete a
certain event to get it opened.
General Store Right near the dojo this sells you various helpful items.
Bait & Grub On the South western corner this guy as the name suggests sells you items to
help you fish.
Pharmacy West of the Eatery this place sell medicine... and booze, which is medicine to
some...
Western Noodle House Located east of the Eatery this is yet another restaurant.
Bar (Toasty Truth) Open at only at night and located on the western side of the map. Eating/
drinking here gives various stats boosts, so worth considering before a big fight. This is
owned by Akemi and a few events involving the Prajnas happen here.
Gambling Den In the north eastern corner and only open at night you can gamble playing
Koi-Koi if you want (if you have no idea what this game is I suggest looking at barticle's
Hanafuda guide under the Yakuza 3 FAQs, he does a good job describing the game)
Kobato, Mistress The anti-law/ Yakuza job brokers, this guys will give you jobs that lower
order. They're right outside the gambling den in the north east corner of the map. Kobato
gives you various types of mission and Mistress just want you to massacre the magistrates.
To get them to give you jobs speak with Mistress and say:
Shrine
The home turf of the Prajnas. They have a store out front that sells items and hang out in the
back of the cave
Harbor
Where you start the game and where you can end your game at any time. If you even want to
leave to start fresh speak with the Boatman in the south west corner.
Casino On the south east corner and open only at night this is a place where you can play
western style casino games. I do believe this is the only place you can get scroll to instant
learn moves for a stance.
Thief A job broker located at the very north, and as the name implies the thief wants help
stealing stuff, so expect order to drop as you help him.
Curio Shop North side of map this shop sells some of the games accessories.
Souvenir Shop Not sure how healing items are souvenirs, but they are, this is on the east
side of the map west of Soba-ya
Soba-ya On the east side of the map north of the casino, this is a restaurant to eat to restore
some of that stamina.
Sushi-ya West side of the map, yet another restaurant for the area.
Black Ship
Nothing much here, in the interior is a bar that sells items. Have to have the language school
open to use of course.
Endings
Below is a list of all endings and set of events to get them. Most normal endings don't require
you to do every event for a faction but for simplicity I'm listing every event so if you do all
steps you will end up with that ending.
The Light of Hope
Basic: Unite the people against Kinugawa!
To get this ending the casino must be closed, while the language school and hospital
must be open
Before attempting this ending I highly recommend a few things. You have to endure all 3
tortures one after another during this, so trying them out 1st when nothing is on the line isn't a
bad idea. As well you are forced into a fight completely unarmed, so mastering an unarmed
stance is really useful especially Moro's style Yubari Martial Arts (you'd have to kill him in a
different playthough).
My Method:
1) Harbor - Amihama Harbor Skirmish
-Say "Fight! Fight and win!" to Akemi, then "Take your hands off her!" to Akagi. During the
fight with Akagi you must kill the 2 prajnas members manning the cannon! I suggest doing
this by holding down L2 to free run and attack one of the 2, they'll stand up and draw their
sword so fight them normally then do the same for the 2nd one.
2) Harbor - Meeting with the Three Sisters
Just beat them, same scene as above
3) Main Plaza - A Speedy Arrival
All you have to do is beat Kotobuki here.
4) Shrine - Praying for Recovery
When you get the chance suggest bring Akagi to the hospital saying '"Let's take him to a
British hospital."
5) Shrine - Ability to Lead
Doesn't matter what you choice here Kogure just doesn't lead well
6) Black Ship - Down for the Count
Tell J.J. "Certainly not cooped up in here!", lead him into the Harbor then to Sushi-ya (west
side restuarant), then he asks what it is say: "It's a very stimulating place."
-If the language school is OPEN and you want to keep it open, skip the next event by
sleeping either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats
outside
6) Shrine - We Don't Need No Stinkin' Language School! or The Lecturer Is a Dead Man
Simple events, click the links for details if you need em.
-If the Casino is OPEN and you want to keep it open, skip the next event by sleeping
either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats outside
7) Shrine - Destroy the Casino or Put an End to the Casino's Reconstruction
Simple fights, J.J. seems to not care enough about his casino.
8) Main Plaza - Chief Minister Onsen Kinugawa
Auto event but don't draw your sword, but you can enjoy a random comment or two.
9) Shrine - Washing Blood With Blood
Agree to help
10) Toasty Truth Bar (Town) - Kill the Traitor
This event is important, you must see this for the ending.
-auto event The Chief Minister's Big Move13) Shrine - Blades of the Patriots
Agree to being in the tournament under the Prajnas name.
14) Main Plaza - Battle Tournament Opens and We Are the Champions
After winning the 3 rounds in the tournament, leave the tournament grounds saying "I wish
to be excused"
15) Shrine - Loss of Nerve and Mutual Rescue
After agreeing to help, save the captured Prajnas
16) Inn (Main Plaza) - Raiding the Consulate and The Samurai Spirit
Follow the flow of battle, you fight a lot of people during these events with no chance to
save. When fighting J.J. it doesn't matter which option you choose nor does it matter which
option is picked when Akagi gives you his dying wish.
Fevered Spirit
Basic: Side with the Prajnas and die with Akagi. This is about the same as above, you just
skip the event The Truth.
My Method:
1) Harbor - Amihama Harbor Skirmish
-When siding with Akagi it doesn't matter what you say/ however I do suggest when he
takes Laura say "Let me in on this!" then say "I don't fight with Dogs!" to side with Akagi.
2) Shrine - Encounter with the "Patriots"
Nothing to do here, get introduced to all those Prajnas people
3) Toasty Truth Bar (Town) - Violent Behavior of the Marine Corps
Get rid of the marines, be sure not to attack Melinda as that fails the event for you.
4) Shrine - Sneaking into the Magistrate's Office
-Doesn't matter how you do this, you can get one crate and leave or go for more to earn
more money.
5) Toasty Truth Bar (Town) - A Deceptive Price
-Once again doesn't matter how it's complete, though I really wouldn't see the need to get
Kogure to help even on Harikiri mode.
16) Inn (Main Plaza) - Raiding the Consulate
Follow the flow of battle, you fight a lot of people during these events with no chance to
save. You end up fighting Madara with some of the black masks. After this fight enjoy the
ending
Road to Ruin
Basic: Side with the Magistrate and help Kinugawa's mad plot to take over the world!
My Method:
1) Harbor - Amihama Harbor Skirmish
-Doesn't matter what you 1st say, when Akagi takes Laura hostage say "Take your hands off
her!" follow the flow of combat, but don't take out the 2 Prajnas manning the cannon during
the fight with Akagi.
2) Magistrate - The Magistrate's Offices
Simple intro event
3) Main Plaza - Hikaru Kotobuki's Explorer's Club
Doesn't matter if you run ahead or stay with Kotobuki, just win the fight at the end
4) Harbor - Stop the Opium Smugglers
Once again how you deal with it doesn't matter, though I do suggest attacking the smugglers
to increase the reward you earn.
-If the hospital is OPEN and you want to keep it open, skip the next event by sleeping
either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats outside
5) Magistrate - Denying Western Medicine or Plan to Shut Down the Hospital
Easy fights, just be sure to take cash from the sisters as playing with them would be them
torturing you... not much of a reward imo, but if you're into it...
-If the language school is CLOSED and you want to keep it closed, skip the next event
by sleeping either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats
outside
6) Harbor or Town (respectively)- The Lecturer Arrives or The Language School Opens
The lecturer is slow, protect him as best you can. Click links for more details.
7) Main Plaza - Gaijin & Geisha
Your target should be strong enough to not die so long as you kill the Prajnas fast enough.
8) Main Plaza - Chief Minister Onsen Kinugawa
Auto event but don't draw your sword, but you can enjoy a random comment or two.
9) Magistrate - The Might of the Demonscales
Simple fight, beat Akagi and Kogure.
10) Magistrate - The Chief Minister & The Three Sisters
Just agree with him, easier that way...
-auto event The Chief Minister's Big Move12) Magistrate - Imperial Sword
Seems you are worthy to be under Kotobuki's name... yay!
13) Main Plaza - Battle Tournament Opens and We Are the Champions
After winning the 3 rounds in the tournament, leave the tournament grounds saying "I wish
to be excused"
14) Magistrate - A Dark Will
Just sit there and hear Kinugawa out
15) Consulate (Little Britain) - Chief Minister At War
Poor trusting Laura, anyways just a plot event
16) Shrine - Annihilation of the Prajnas
Easy enough fight, just be aware of the cannon, they can hurt you and fast.
17) Consulate (Little Britain) - Black Ship In Hand
Plot event
18) Black Ship - Shigeru Moro, Swordsman
One on One fight with Moro, go into the interior of the ship and all the way to the most
western room (south of the kitchen)
A Change of Heart
Basic: Side with the Magistrate and stop Kinugawa's madness.
14) Magistrate - A Dark Will
After Moro gets up, you'll be given a chance to leave as well. Do so.
15) Magistrate - Patriots
Simple plot event, sets up the plan
16) Shrine - The Three Kataneers
Love J.J.'s definition of stealth ... anyways just fight your way and beat Akagi and Kogure.
17) Shrine - Hikaru Kotobuki, Military Man
Be aware of the cannons, overall this is an easy final fight imo.
-If the hospital is CLOSED and you want to keep it closed, skip the next event by
sleeping either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats
outside
5) Little Britain or Consulate - OWH (Occupy Western Hospital) or Hooray! The Hospital's
Grand Opening
Easy events, not much too them.
6) Consulate (Little Britain) - A Dumpling Tale

-If the casino is CLOSED and you want to keep it closed, skip the next event by sleeping
either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats outside
7) Harbor/ Casino - Rising Sun or Hurrying to Rebuild the Casino
Simple and easy events.
8) Main Plaza - Chief Minister Onsen Kinugawa
Auto event but don't draw your sword, but you can enjoy a random comment or two.
9) Little Britain - The Little Public Servant & The Big Minister
Plot event, nothing for you to do make comments if you want.
-auto event The Chief Minister's Big Move12) Consulate (Little Britain) - The Eastern Knight
Unlike the other 2 factions Laura just wishes you luck.
13) Main Plaza - Battle Tournament Opens and We Are the Champions
After winning the 3 rounds in the tournament, leave the tournament grounds saying "I wish
to be excused"
14) Consulate (Little Britain) - Wasted Wish
After events, delivery Laura message to the Prajnas in front of the cave.
15) Main Plaza - Kinugawa's Evil Influence
The fight with Akagi is simple enough. Once you're dealing with the demonscales though you
have to protect Laura. I found the best method is to eat chocolate or an Asura Mushroom
and just let lose with spring harvest. Every 5 or so kills use the L1 + R1 to stop the spring
harvest to see if you've managed enough kills with the event ending.
16) Black Ship - Twilight On Board
Plot event, do nothing and you get this ending.
Samurai Straight
Basic: Side with the foreigners and either let Laura die or jump off the ship
2) Little Britain - Audience with the Littlest Public Servant
Simple intro event
3) Little Britain - The Telegraph
Simple event followed by a simple fight.
4) Consulate (Little Britain) - Killing Casual Killing
Another simple killing event
-If the hospital is CLOSED and you want to keep it closed, skip the next event by
sleeping either at the inn (if you're concerned about crime rate) or on one of the mats
outside
5) Little Britain or Consulate - OWH (Occupy Western Hospital) or Hooray! The Hospital's
Grand Opening
Easy events, not much too them.
6) Consulate (Little Britain) - A Dumpling Tale
Simple plot event, agree and beat up the thugs that attack
I'd suggest after you defeat Akagi to simply let Laura die. If this doesn't agree with you then
save her, and during Twilight On Board say "I can't leave yet"
16) Magistrate - The Raid
Fight your way to the upper floors, there the 3 sisters greet you and you gotta deal with
them.
As a Demonscale
Basic: Enter the tournament as an independent.
My Method:
1) Harbor Amihama Harbor Skirmish or After the Storm
Doesn't matter if you participate in the skirmish or not.
2) .. anyways, sleep until Day 3 daytime.
3) Main Plaza - Chief Minister Onsen Kinugawa
Auto event but don't draw your sword, but you can enjoy a random comment or two.
4) again sleep, daytime day 4
-auto event The Chief Minister's Big Move5) Town - Idle Chatter
Auto plot event.
6) Main Plaza - Battle Tournament Opens and We Are the Champions
After winning the 3 rounds in the tournament, the ending will auto kick in
Boiled Samurai
Basic: Side with any of the 3 sides and during the tournament climb the stairs to join the
other "winners"
My Method:
Do events for any one side until the tournament if you want a step by step follow any of the
other endings: Fevered Spirits, The Flames of Prajna, Road to Ruin, A Change of Heart,
Setting Off to Foreign Lands, Samurai Straight. Doesn't matter who you side with just pick a
colour and go.
1) Main Plaza - Battle Tournament Opens and We Are the Champions
After winning the 3 rounds in the tournament go up the stairs and be a "winner"!

Below is a list of all events, choices within and what may be required for the event to happen.
Before each section I have a small chart which is setup to look like what you see in the events

Samurai On Board
Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Take a tour of Amihama
The unavoidable event that eventually doesn't even happen... This is basically the boat ride
into town where you can speak to the driver or yourself asking questions about the town. If
you're 1st starting ask all of them, otherwise you'll likely simply skip this event.
Amihama Harbor Skirmish
Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Participate in the conflict.
After getting off the boat approach the crowd in the harbor.
After the 1st two scenes, you're given a choice of what to say: 1st choice "What would you
have me do?" gives you the full tutorial helping you figure out combat, 2nd choice "It would
be futile to interfere." skips the tutorial but is basically the same. A 3rd option appears after
your 1st few playthoughs saying "Fight! Fight and win!", this option makes it so you fight
Akagi, Melinda then Kotobuki one after another after the normal parts of this event.
After beating a few groups of Prajnas you have to confront Akagi who now has Laura. The
1st option "Take your hands off her!" has you save her, the 2nd ("You cowards...") and 3rd
("Let me in on this!") makes Kotobuki jump in. If you do the later you can side with
Kotobuki or Akagi. Fight till the end and people will try to recruit you depending on who you
ended up helping (I suggest saving Laura since everyone will try even though you went
against Akagi).
To get the hidden path during this event while fighting Akagi you can kill the 2 Prajnas who
are manning the cannon. After a cutscene you need to finish off Akagi, fight Melinda then
Kotobuki. Finally the 3 sisters arrive and you have to beat all of them. This set you off to a
totally different set of events where you arrives at either The Light of Hope ending or The
Chief Minister Lived ending.
After the Storm
Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Ignore the dispute.
After getting off the boat, you need to hug the building avoiding the crowd and head north to
the exit to the town. After completing this re-enter the harbor to see the aftermath of the
battle.
You can quick travel away as well, if you don't mind losing the vitality.
Encounter with the "Patriots"
Place: Shrine
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 1 - Head to the cave.
After meeting Akagi at the entrance to the cave you can go to the back to have an intro to him
and Kogure, then it changes to the Toasty Truth Bar to introduce Akemi.
The Magistrate's Offices
Place: Magistrate
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 1 - Visit the Magistrate's Office.
Requirement: You must participate in the Amihama Harbor Skirmish event and either save
Laura or side with Kotobuki.
Another intro event so no combat, proves that Kotobuki is a little weird though...
3 times of the 1st 2 options "Save me!" or "Somebody! Help!" to get his attention
When asked "Please save me."
Finally "I'll give you whatever you want!"
Place: Shrine
Time: Night
Description: Day 1 - Go along with Akagi's plans.
Stealing weapons sounds like something that should be where you sneak around... I suggest
not trying to sneak during this. After Akagi kills the 1st look out, draw your sword and kill
the 2 lookouts that get in our way (one is near the entrance to the Magistrate office, you can
ignore him). You'll see the 1st on west of the entrance, he doesn't move but if he sees you you
might get into combat anyways. The final one roams, from beyond the storehouse in the north
to the main gate.
With the lookouts killed you can pick up the crates with square and run them to the exit. Each
crate you get gives you some money, most I've gotten is 1500 mon. Also worth noting after
the 1st crate you get end the event successfully by running back Akagi and saying that it's
enough.
Stop the Opium Smugglers
Place: Harbor
Time: Night
Description: Day 1 - Participate in the defense of the harbor.
After the deal goes down the foreigners claims diplomatic immunity. If you do nothing he
gets away and you get a reward of 500 mon.
For the full reward draw your sword and just attack the foreigner. You'll take him and the
buyer down and get 1500 mon, with Kotobuki saying he didn't see anything.
Killing Casual Killing
Place: Consulate
Time: Night
Description: Day 1 - Listen to J.J.'s request.
Not much to this event, J.J. just watches as you massacre the 10 attackers.
This event offers the ability to easily earn the "get 10 kills with spring harvest" requirement
for moves for a style.
Day 2
Todays events are all about setting up and destroying the 3 facilities: the hospital, the
language school and the casino. So each playthough you can close/ open all 3.

A Deceptive Price
Rising Sun
A Deceptive Price
Place: Magistrate
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 2 - Accept the three sisters' request.
Requirement: The hospital must be closed.
After you arrive in Little Britain you'll be confronted by a few marines. To succeed at this
event fight them. After this you'll fight Melinda in the hospital itself.
Place: Magistrate
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 2 - Accept the three sisters' request.
Requirement: The hospital must be open.
You'll be on the road for this one, re-claiming the money to be used for the hospital. Again
you fight Melinda for the money itself.
OWH (Occupy Western Hospital)
Place: Consulate
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 2 - Accept Laura's request
Requirement: Hospital closed.
After going to the entrance of the hospital you'll have to fight the protester's "sensei". Despite
what you say to Laura you seem required to kill him. After this you go into the hospital, tell
them instead "This hospital will help save lives" to get them to let the hospital be opened.
Hooray! The Hospital's Grand Opening
Place: Shrine
Time: Evening
Description: Day 2 - Take part in the plot to kill the lecturer.
Requirement: Language school is closed.
Despite the name once you attack the group at the harbor you need to defeat all the named
enemies (Melinda, Moro and Kotobuki) not the lecturer himself. Once they're all defeated the
lecturer chooses to leave.
I've attempted to just kill the lecturer and he seems immortal during this event.
The Lecturer Is a Dead Man
Place: Shrine
Time: Evening
Description: Day 2 - Take part in the plot to kill the lecturer.
Requirement: Language school is open.
Unlike the above event this event we want to just attack the lecturer himself. After a few
attacks he should go down. Since the lecturer doesn't have a sword you need to hold down R2
to free run and be able to attack him.
The Lecturer Arrives
Place: Town
Time: Evening
Description: Day 2 - Meet with Moro.
Requirement: Language school is closed.
This one is annoying. The lecturer has a limited amount of health, you need to make sure he
follows you and you'll succeed by getting him to the bridge to town in the north west corner.
To get him to follow you speak with him in battle and select "Follow me!".
I do suggest since you start on the docks use your spring harvest to deal with the beginning
Prajnas and depending on the difficulty you might want to finish off Kogure and Akagi. Once
you get away from the main fight a few Prajnas will show up now and again, and since the
lecturer is slow be sure to keep your eye on him as you run to the town.
Place: Town
Time: Evening
Description: Day 2 - Meet with Moro.
Requirement: Language school is open.
Not nearly as bad as getting him though the harbour, but basically the same: Tell the lecturer
to follow you and going clockwise from the language school (cause of barriers) get to the
main plaza area.
A Dumpling Tale
Place: Consulate
Time: Evening
Description: Day 2 - Listen to Laura's request
Laura takes you to the back roads and the event is basically dealing with a group of thugs
who attack, simple clean and easy.
Destroy the Casino
Place: Shrine
Time: Night
Description: Day 2 - Aid in the destruction of the casino.
Requirement: Casino is open.
Simple fight in the middle of the casino, you fight J.J. and a group of his casino guards.
Place: Shrine
Time: Night
Description: Day 2 - Prevent the rebuilding of the casino.
Requirement: Casino is closed.
Select "I'm Ready!" to start the event which is like the above event but outside the casino.
Marines also join the fight so prepared to be shoot a bit as them in addition to J.J.'s shooting.
When you regain control of your character you can right away attack J.J. or someone on his
side to start the battle if you wish.
Gaijin & Geisha
Place: Casino
Time: Night
Description: Day 2 - Meet with J.J.
Requirement: Casino is open
Basically playing games with J.J. until the Prajnas come to destroy the casino. Fight them off
and save the casino.
Place: Harbor
Time: Night
Description: Day 2 - Meet with J.J.
Requirement: Casino is closed
Outside of the casino as you might imagine you're going to be fighting of the Prajnas to help
open the casino.

Description: Day 3 - Meet with Akagi
A simple fight event, named enemies are Kotobuki and the 3 sisters. You only need to beat
Kotobuki and one of the sisters (the other 2 will run away).
The Might of the Demonscales
Place: Magistrate
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 3 - Join Kotobuki on his rounds.
After killing a few normal Prajnas you need to take out Kogure and Akagi.
The Little Public Servant & The Big Minister
Place: Town
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 3 - Wander into town.
Requirement: Refuse to help in either events Washing Blood With Blood or The Might of
the Demonscales and enter town.
Select "I am providing backup...but not to you" to side with Akagi or "I am at your service,
Kotobuki." to side with Kotobuki. The event then runs like Washing Blood With Blood or
The Might of the Demonscales but in mid battle (you still get a reward at the end).
Select the middle ground "I'm just passing through" Makes it so you simply fail the event.
Place: Magistrate
Time: Evening
Description: Day 3 - Meet with Kotobuki.
Purely talking event, haven't said I disagree with the torture the sisters/ Kinugawa enjoy but I
doubt they'd attack you.
The Ambassador Collapses
Place: Consulate
Time: Evening
Description: Day 3 - Meet with J.J.
Laura needs medicine, so head to town and the pharmacy in the north end of the city (west of
the Eatery). After getting the medicine on you way back Yakuza/ thugs will attempt to steal
the medicine from you if you let them finish what they're saying. So just run all the way back
to the consulate (unless you want to fight them...) where some Prajnas will attack you. After
you defeat them Laura takes her medicine and goes soundly asleep.
Place: Cemetery
Time: Night
Description: Day 3 - Visit the cemetery.
Requirement: Do not see the event Kill the Traitor
Basically you find Akemi in the cemetery alone. The only thing this event could enable is to
night crawl with Akemi if you've met the conditions to do so.
The Truth
Place: Cemetery
Time: Night
Description: Day 3 - Visit the Cemetery.
Requirement: Have seen the event Kill the Traitor
Akemi is seen speaking with the 3 sisters, as you approach her you're given options to speak
if you pretend you didn't hear anything she'll simply leave. If you say "I heard everything."
you have to fight her.
Planned Raid
Place: Harbor
Time: Night
Description: Day 3 - Meet with Akagi.
Requirement: Do not see the event Kill the Traitor
Here you 1st need to kill Moro, followed by fighting off the 3 sisters and a lot of
demonscales.
Place: Harbor
Time: Night
Description: Day 3 - Meet with Akagi
Requirement: See the event Kill the Traitor
If you did the event The Truth you can inform Akagi that Akemi by saying "Stop Fighting!"
then "This is clearly a trap!" and finally "Akemi is a Shogunate spy!" changing the fight to be
just against a bunch of demonscales. Otherwise you're basically doing the same as Planned
Raid.
You get a 1500 mon reward at the end.

Place: Shrine
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 4+ - Meet with Akagi
Requirement: Do enough Prajnas events
Plot event, you just agree to go into the tournament under the Prajnas name by saying "Leave

Imperial Sword
Place: Consulate
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 4+ - Meet with Laura
Requirement: Do enough Foreigner events.
Like the others Laura gives you her blessing before the tournament
Idle Chatter
Place: Town
Time: Daytime
Description: Day 4+ - Swagger your way into the town.
Requirement: Don't meet the required events for any of the 3 factions (like if you where to
sleep though each of the 1st 3 days).
Small plot event, not much to it.
Battle Tournament Opens
Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Give up in the battle tournament.
Requirement: During one of the 3 rounds in the battle tournament, talk selecting the 2nd
option "I give up".
Toguro the non-unique black mask will tell you to leave Amihama. If you refuse him twice
he'll leave then, but every night in each area several black masks will attack you.

Loss of Nerve
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Meet with Akagi after the tournament.
Requirement: Side with Prajnas during tournament.
Simple plot event once you agree saying "Absolutely. Let's get this show on the road!" it
leads you to the magistrates exterior...
You're fighting lots of Constables and demonscales here. 1st outside, once you kill enough
you move inside where you need the key. It'll on the Demonscale general, who has demon
masks on but otherwise looks like a standard demonscale member. N ext head to the torture
chamber on the west side of the map (you need to open the door with the general's key)
Mutual Rescue
Place: Magistrate
Time: Daytime
Description: Set off to rescue the captured Prajnas.
Requirement: Complete Loss of Nerve
Continue from above you have to get out of here. You have to use the south exit, the north
doesn't work. Also it seems the angle that you can hit to use the door is weird, so just keep
hitting X on the door it'll let you out eventually.
Outside now you have to simply leave, the south exit of the compound is closed so go
clockwise around the building to the north exit then to the main plaza exit. You end up
getting award, not sure if it changes based on how you do things, I got 3000... if anything
changes it I'd imagine how many of the prisoners dying would be key.
Raiding the Consulate
Place: Inn
Time: All
Description: Initiate a raid upon the consulate.
Requirement: Complete Mutual Rescue
Agree to the attack by saying "Anytime." or say "Let me make some preparations first..." if
you wish to repair your weapon, get items, save etc. This is the last chance to save before
either Prajnas endings.
The battle itself starts in Little Britain. Melinda will stand against you if still alive, otherwise
a generic New Commander (literally her name...) with a unique fighting style fights you.
Once you're in the consulate you either fight J.J. in the event The Samurai Spirit or you fight
Madara if you missed the events Kill the Traitor and The Truth to kill her previously (getting
you the ending Fevered Spirits).
Place: Consulate
Time: Evening
Description: Settle the score with J.J.
Requirement: Compete Raiding the Consulate and have previous killed Madara/Akemi in
the event The Truth.
You can fight J.J. one or one by saying "You two... leave this one to me." or as a group by
saying "Quit your bellyaching and fight like a man!" ... either way it's one on one... (note that
the J.J. fight may be considered part of Raiding the Consulate but it's easier to put it here).
After you beat him you fight the 3 sisters and Kotobuki in the main hall of the consulate. This
is followed by the ending sequence of The Flames of Prajna.
A Dark Will
Place: Magistrate
Time: All
Description: Meet with the three sisters after the tournament
Requirement: Side with Magistrate during the tournament
A plot event, when Moro leaves you can choice to as well. This determines which ending you
get from the magistrates.
Chief Minister At War
Place: Consulate
Time: Daytime
Description: Endorse Kinugawa's plan.
Requirement: During A Dark Will stay during the event.
Simple plot event, what could possible go wrong with giving Kinugawa cannons.....
Patriots
Place: Magistrate
Time: Daytime
Description: Oppose Kinugawa's plan.
Requirement: During A Dark Will leave when Moro does.
Plot event, sets up your plan to ensure Kinugawa does no more evil.
Annihilation of the Prajnas
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Eliminate the Prajnas.
Requirement: Complete Chief Minister At War
You're attacking/ destroying the Prajnas. I found this event really annoying since cannons are
constantly attacking everyone. But it is a simple combat kill everyone event ending with
killing the leaders Kogure and Akagi.
The Three Kataneers
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Endorse Moro's idea.
Requirement: Complete Patriots
Instead of attacking the Prajnas with an army J.J., Moro and you end up attacking them with
just the 3 of you. I found it a lot easier then with the army since you cannons to hurt you.
Black Ship In Hand
Place: Consulate
Time: Evening
Description: Destroy the Prajna base.
Requirement: Complete Annihilation of the Prajnas
Simple plot event, and if only Laura wasn't so trusting...
Place: Shrine
Time: Night
Description: Take over the Prajnas' base with Moro.
Requirement: Complete The Three Kataneers
You meet Kotobuki at the entrance to the shrine and have to take him out despite just
finishing his job. This is simple enough ultimately but the cannon can prove fatal if you
continue to ignore them hitting you.
Wasted Wish
Place: Consulate
Time: All
Description: Meet with Laura after the tournament
Requirement: Side with the foreigners during the tournament.
After J.J.'s demise you're to deliver Laura message to Akagi. A Prajnas member will be
outside the cave, tell him you have a message then you can return to the consulate to continue
to the next event.
Place: Magistrate
Time: All
Description: Meet with the three sisters after Kinugawa's Evil Influence.
Requirement: Leave the ship during Twilight On Board or fail to save Laura during
Kinugawa's Evil Influence.
1 man (or women) makes the choice to end Kinugawa. Simple battle against Constables/
demonscales until the inner most room. Here you find the 3 sisters, and have to fight them to
end up with the ending Samurai Straight

Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Calm the violent waves.
Requirement: During Amihama Harbor Skirmish select "Fight! Fight and win!", and while
fighting Akagi kill the 2 Prajnas men who are manning the cannon.
This is the fight with the 3 sisters, so pretty much the same scene as Amihama Harbor
Skirmish just the extension.
A Speedy Arrival
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Save Akagi's life
This happens right after the above, after the doctor says there isn't anything to be done if the
hospital is open you can suggest bringing him to the British hospital ("Let's take him to a
British hospital."), or if it isn't (or you aren't interested in getting The Light of Hope) ending
you can say "It's just a flesh wound. He'll be fine!" and Akagi will end up dying.
Also if you want to get the ending The Chief Minister Lived attacking Akagi here will kill
him instantly and jump you right into that ending (you will have to kill Kogure as well for
obvious reasons).
Ability to Lead
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Check on Kogure.
Requirement: Hospital open, have brought Akagi to the hospital in Praying for Recovery.
Kogure can't lead, this is made clear right away. Doesn't really matter what you say, the
demonscales (along with rifle equipped infantry) will attack and once they're dealt with
Kogure will ask you to check on J.J.
The Sting of Hatred
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Confirm Akagi's death.
Requirement: Kill Akagi in Praying for Recovery by not taking him to the British hospital.
The event is basically a one on one fight with Kogure to the death, you can't convince Kogure
to stop the fight in this.
Place: Casino
Time: All
Description: Meet with J.J. at the casino.
Requirement: Casino must be open.
J.J. has two bodyguards tormenting a poor villager... so tell them to stop and you'll end up
killing the bodyguards before taking out J.J. himself.
This event may be the only means to get J.J.'s gun, though I could be wrong about that...
Strike in the Dark
Place: Shrine
Time: All
Description: Meet with Kogure
Requirement: Saved Akagi in Praying for Recovery
Kogure will decide he can't lead with words but with action, so he decides killing Moro
would help the Prajnas out. We won't want that to happen, so head into Town towards the
Language School. During the event speak with Kogure and tell him:
This start a fight with Kogure so using the back of your sword deplete his vitality, once done
you can tell him "You've lost, Kogure!" to end the event.
Pursuit of Knowledge
Place: Sushi-ya
Time: All
Description: Check on J.J.
Requirement: Completed Down for the Count
Doesn't matter what you say, poor J.J. will end up getting arrested for making rather weird
looking sushi.
The Sad Boat Home
Place: Harbor
Time: All
Description: See off Laura.
Requirement: Complete Dice of Destiny
Seems weird you'd see Laura off since you where the one to kill the count... but after she's
gone Melinda will attack you in a death match, so kill her and continue on to the ending The
Chief Minister Lived.
Laura's Determination
Place: Magistrate
Time: All
Description: Visit Kinugawa with Laura.
Speak to Laura outside and say "Let's go. We're in this together.". Laura speak with
Kinugawa, she realises how evil he is before you have to fight some demonscales/ get
captured. This event links directly to the next one without a chance to save. This event ends
with you being in the grasp of the 3 sisters.
Basically you have to endure the 3 tortures in a row (see Torture section for details, starting
with Hell Horse then Super Rock Press finally Human Waterwheel
The Fighting Spirit Never Dies
In Pursuit of Kinugawa
Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Stop the public execution.
This is basically the battle with Madara and Toguro, shouldn't be too hard after all you've
been though.
Black Ship Battle
Place: Harbor
Time: Daytime
Description: Settle the score with the root of all evil.
So Kinugawa just won't die, and he's taken the Black Ship! This is the final fight with
Kinugawa. Once he's beaten you've finally earned The Light of Hope ending!
Jobs
Below are a list of all jobs, currently I'm focusing on the major jobs not the minor jobs you
can get from random people.
When you have a job and go to the destination of that job, you'll get a message either saying
that the job is on site or not. Generally the reason why a target isn't available is because a plot
event is present and you can't have 2 events in a single area (or 2 jobs, you'd have to leave
and come back for a 2nd job in the same area). Then your target is present it will be displayed
on the mini-map as a target so you can easily find where you need to go.
Sakotsu
The 1st of the two massacre mission givers. He's located in the magistrate office near the
center of the map by the entrance to the main castle (unless you've completed all of
Nodobotoke's mission and he'll be in the horse stalls then).
He gives missions involving killing Yakuza in town. This is extremely helpful for gathering
lots of ore as well as Creating an ultimately weapon. I say this cause you can kill the lot of
them and at least 35 swords remain on the ground, so if you pick up 10 you should get nearly
50 ore per mission (unless you're doing Underbelly Recon as it caps at 25).
Underbelly Recon
Issuer: Sakotsu
Destination: Town
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 1250 mon
Summary: Improve public order by killing 25 yakuza near the gambling den.
How to: To get this mission public order must be very strong.
Go to the town area and near the gambling hall in the north-east corner will be a Yakuza,
identify yourself as the assassin being the nice samurai you are and let the massacre begin!
If you do need/ want to leave mid mission feel free to do so. Though to exit to another map
you can't be near any enemies, so either use spring harvest to clear enemies around you (and
likely use quick travel before more appear) or run in large circles to hopefully create enough
distance to either quick travel or exit normally.
Underbelly Call
Issuer: Sakotsu
Destination: Town
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2500 mon
Summary: Improve public order by killing 50 yakuza near the gambling den.

Summary: Improve public order by killing 75 yakuza near the gambling den.
How to: To get this mission public order must be normal.
Underbelly Smash
Issuer: Sakotsu
Destination: Town
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 5000 mon
Summary: Improve public order by killing 100 yakuza near the gambling den.
How to: To get this mission public order must be weak or very weak.
Go to the town area and near the gambling hall in the north-east corner will be a Yakuza,
identify yourself as the assassin being the nice samurai you are and let the massacre begin!
If you do need/ want to leave mid mission feel free to do so. Though to exit to another map

distance to either quick travel or exit normally.
Mistress
The 2nd of the two massacre mission givers. Located by or in the gambling den in the northeast corner of the town map. Each mission you've given is all about killing 25 to 100
Constables/ government workers. These are normally simply enough, but because the site of
the attack is the Magistrate area it is possible to get arrested if a thief-taker/ constable walks
in the area, though generally they'll draw their swords themselves anyways.
As mentioned in my area overview section to get jobs speak to the Mistress and say:
To start any of the 4 missions speak to the mistress and say "Death to all government
officials!" the mission you get depends on the crime rate, the lower it is the easier the mission
will end up being.
Also all of these missions reduce public order, so if you want the crime rate to be weak keep
doing these.
Government Recon
Issuer: Mistress
Destination: Magistrate
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 1250 mon
Summary: Diminish public order by killing 25 government officials near the magistrate's
office.
How to: To get this mission public order must be very weak.
Head to the magistrate and speak to your target outside, once you say you're the assassin the
government officials will continue to pour in. So kill away!
Government Call

Head to the magistrate and speak to your target outside, once you say you're the assassin the
government officials will continue to pour in. So kill away!

Summary: Diminish public order by killing 100 government officials near the magistrate's
office.
How to: To get this mission public order must be strong or very strong.
Head to the magistrate and speak to your target outside, once you say you're the assassin the

Nodobotoke
The magistrate job giver, who's missions are more about protecting him then enforcing the
law. Regardless completing his missions does improve the crime rate so it's worth doing a
few of his missions each playthough if you need a bit of money.
To start his missions speak with him selecting the 1st option twice.
All of his missions will have criminals wandering the area, they're dressed in a full black
outfit so should be easy enough to spot. Each kill is worth 1000 mon. When you find one
speak with him and select the 1st option (it changes) to start a fight.
Subpoena
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Town
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 1500 mon
Summary: Issue subpoena to the ronin suspected of murder.
How to: Kill any criminals if you find them, once done approach your target and speak with
the samurai in the back, then speak with one of the people kicking/ yelling at him:
"I work at the magistrate's office" to get them to leave then speak with the ronin again:
"Didn't you kill a government official?"
"I'm taking you in to the magistrate's."
"The scary constable will be mad at me!" to complete this mission.
Demand Note
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2000 mon
Summary: Be wary of the outlaw who refuses to pay his fines, but don't kill him!
How to: Kill the bounties if you want, some won't be wandering around, so look in the
corners of the map to find those ones, but some still can be walking around. Once you're done
climb the stairs to your targets
Speak with the bodyguard, Ahara as the lawbreaker is confident until you defeat Ahara. Say:
After that speak with the lawbreaker and say "Pay up." to compete the mission
Plea Bargain
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2500 mon
Summary: Cut down the scumbag who conducts false transactions. Do not make any
transactions.
How to: Kill bounties again, once ready approach your target near the bell and either just
start attacking him or select which ever speech option (they all seem to end in you letting him
know why you're really there) and kill him.
Warning
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3000 mon
Summary: Be wary of the outlaw who refuses to pay his fines, but don't kill him!
How to: This is literally the same mission as Demand Note, as Ahara has come back from the
dead to get you. So again, kill bounties 1st if you want then speak with Ahara and say:
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3500 mon
Summary: Cut down Nenza Tsumasaki, former warrior of the magistrate.
How to: This is a really easy mission. So 1st thing again, kill those bounties if so you wish.
Speak with Tsumasaki near the entrance to the Magistrates area and say (pretty much every
2nd option):
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4000 mon
Summary: Find the outlaw who refuses to pay his fines and collect the money from him
through any means necessary.
How to: Kill bounties, kill Ahara and now you can kill the lawbreaker if you want. It's set
another copy of Demand Note/Warning
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4500 mon
Summary: Destroy all the abandoned baggage.
How to: A simple mission, you can take as much time as you like to complete this mission
but after about 30 seconds Prajnas members will continuously poor in. So if you want to get
the bounties feel free to do so, but I do suggest making sure all the crates that are on top of
graves are off the graves before the Prajnas arrive.
The only warning I have for this mission is crates will easily kill you if they fall on you. The
stack in the middle is about 10 high, you'll want to nudge it off the grave and get out of the
way, it's really easy to kill yourself here.
Also if you're unsure of where the crates are, they're all marked on the minimap, so use the
select button to show the map in the corner to easily find the right crates.
True Culprit
Issuer: Nodobotoke
Destination: Inn (Main Plaza)
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 5000 mon
Summary: Find the head manager of the Deathbringers and standout member of the Yakuza
Quartet, Gozo Hiyoko, and bring him in dead or alive.
How to: Go to the inn, the bounties will be here generally cramped into a corner of the 1st
floor. When ready enter the room on the 2nd floor and speak with Hiyoko:
After completing this one go back to speak with Nodobotoke, who after a somewhat comical
event releases the prisoner from the stables you captured in Subpoena. Speak with both
Nodobotoke to complete the thief-taker mission line then speak with the prisoner to learn his
identify (you should see him right outside the south gate).
Kobato
This guy hangs out in the Town area right near the Gambling den, he basically is the yakuza
or organized crime job giver of the game. As you might imagine the crime rate will get worse
as you complete jobs for him so be aware of that before you start to spend the cash you earn
from his missions.
As mentioned in my area overview section to get jobs from him speak with the Mistress
beside him and say:
During his missions black crates appear all over the place, breaking one earns you 300 mon.
However breaking crates is a crime, so expect Magistrates to come after you if they see you
breaking them.
Brutish Constable
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Main Plaza
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 1500 mon
Summary: Dispose of the constable who harassed the yakuza underling and took his money.
How to: It can be annoying the break the creates here, no matter how low public order is a
few constables will be in the area so break away if you wish.
So as you approach the target he tries to get the poor girl to sleep with him. Speak with him
saying pretty much anything will result in a fight, kill him to complete the mission.
Easy Task
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2000 mon
Summary: Dispose of the minor Bodhislaughtva nuisance.
How to: Break the crate you see along the way as you make your way to the group of targets.
I'd simply recommend drawing your sword near them as it starts the fight without having to
speak to them 7-8 times (which you can do as well). Win the fight to complete this mission.
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2500 mon
Summary: Dispose of the four ronin who harass the yakuza.
How to: Be sure to break up those boxes here as you shouldn't have any lawmen here. Once
you're done again either speak to one of the "samurai lords" and pick the 1st option "Killing
you, actually." to start up the fight to kill them completing the mission.
Amihama's Womanizer
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Main Plaza
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3000 mon
Summary: Dispose of the lady-killer who dared to lay a hand on a yakuza woman.
How to: As usual break boxes if you want, just beware that constables are generally here no
matter time of day or crime rate. When ready speak to the man getting followed by all those
women and say:
Annoying Task
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3500 mon
Summary: Dispose of the Bodhislaughtva menace who came to get revenge for last time.
How to: Like Easy Task break crates, draw your sword on your targets to start the fight (or
continue to speak with them) to beat them and complete the mission.
The Empress Needs No Competition
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Inn (Main Plaza)
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4000 mon
Summary: Dispose of the sisters who have a bad influence on profits in the gambling den.
How to: In the main plaza head to the inn. In here there will be crates and no one to arrest
you! so break away for an easy bonus. The sister are upstairs seemly having fun, speak with
Ekubo (the dual ninja chick) and say:
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4500 mon
Summary: Dispose of the merchant who used dirty methods to acquire the plot of land on
which the gambling den stands.
How to: In the harbor your target is in the south western area, so destroy crates 1st if you
want, Constables can appear here after all.. when ready speak with the "Winners" and say:
Issuer: Kobato
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 5000 mon
Summary: Emerge victorious in the general offensive initiated by the Bodhislaughtva.
How to: Like Easy Task or Annoying Task go to the back roads, destroy those creates if you
want though this time you must speak with Miroku and say:
"Bodhislaughtva alert!"
"Well met."
"I'm more than enough, believe me."
"I cannot let that insult go unanswered!"
Kill her 5 boy toys and speak with her again:
"Hell no."
"My loyalty is not for sale."
Defeat Miroku to complete the mission.
I'd suggest returning and speaking with Kobato now to get the all clear message for the
yakuza mission set.
Thief
Spending his time in the harbor, right next to Uchimada's house in the north of the map
(leader of the clean samurai from missions from Gramps) as his title suggests he wants you to
steal things. So as you might imagine the crime rate will worsen as you complete his
missions.
To start his missions speak with him and say:
"Thief! Thief!"
"That is a good point..."
"I'm a samurai."
"Sounds good."
He'll then start you right away in his 1st mission.
During his missions on the ground will be green furoshiki (cloth bags which apparently are
filled with junk...) each one you pick up gives a bonus of 300 mon.
Preliminary Test
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Main Plaza
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 1500 mon
Summary: Acquire the geisha's treasure
How to: 1st thing you should do is check for the green sacks, each one you pick up adds to
the bonus, when you're done the Geisha will be walking around so find her and walk in front
of her.
Every once in a while the thief-takers will not be paying attention, you'll get a message to run
into her ("Hint: Now!") from the front, if you're successful she drops the purple furoshiki. If
not it'll say why you failed and eventually you can try again.
Alternatively attacking her makes her right away drop the treasure, the thief-takers will attack
you and you may get arrested, but so long as you get away it can be much faster.
Stealing Is Winning
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2000 mon
Summary: Acquire the treasure from the sumo stable.
How to: Back Roads is big, so pick up the green furoshiki if you want for the bonus, the
purple furoshiki will simply be on the ground for the taking... however when you enter the
small area it's in the sumo guys right away attack you.
You can grab and run if you want, however this is a great location to attempt to get 10 kills in
spring harvest for a style as the enemies spawn fast and I got about 12 of them.
Souvenir From Hell
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2500 mon
Summary: Acquire the Buddha's treasure.
How to: Finding the green furoshiki around can be hard here but feel free to search for them
all. The dead body you have to kick is in the south-western corner guarded by 4 constables
and one will ALWAYS be watching, so I simply recommend killing all four, it doesn't affect
your reward and makes the entire quest a lot easier.
Once you've dealt with the constables kicking the corpse causes your player to pray each
time.. after about 6 kicks the purple furoshiki will drop.
I Am a Bandit
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3000 mon
Summary: Acquire the merchant's treasure.
How to: Back roads is big, find green furoshiki if you want but I'd recommend just going for
your targets.
As you approach each merchant speak with them saying "Leave everything you own right
here." you'll then have to kill the bodyguard. Follow up by speaking with the same merchant
and saying the same thing, he'll drop an item or two and after dealing with a few of the
merchants (likely the last one) you'll get your purple furoshiki to complete the mission.
Pack of Beasts
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3500 mon
Summary: Acquire the beasts' treasure.
How to: This is annoying. Again 1st search for the green furoshiki away target where all the
dogs are.
Once ready my method is a bit dangerous but doesn't require an onigiri to distract the dogs.
Basically what I suggest is getting near the dogs from one extreme side , once they all start
chasing you make a circle around to the other side of where the treasure is, the one dog
guarding it shouldn't prevent you from kicking the treasure to pick it up. If the dogs do start
hitting you they cause a lot of damage, so if you do it this way be prepared to re-load if you
have to.
Once you have completed the mission to prevent getting killed from dog bites quick travel
anywhere else to get out of the situation.
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4000 mon
Summary: Acquire the bodyguard's treasure.
How to: Search for green furoshiki if you want, but with back roads again it's likely a bit of a
waste of time.
Speak with any of the bodyguard's around and say "Give that here." to start a big battle with
all of them (and there are more then 5 btw). As you kill them they can drop one of the purple
furoshiki and you need 5 of them. If you don't see one drop don't worry, they got marked on
the map so feel free to deal with the combat 1st then make a search for all of the treasures
after.
This is a great mission to try for 10 kills during spring harvest, they tend to group right at you
in the beginning.
The Last Heist
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Town
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4500 mon
Summary: Acquire the final treasure.
How to: Avoid the building in the middle where your target is if you want to find the green
furoshiki for the bonus.
When ready enter the building and start going around (you don't need to speak with the girl).
Once you reach the other side constables will come to attack you, and this is very much like a
kill 100 type mission as you need to kill 25 constables before the flow stops. Once you're
done head back into that house's area and pick up the purple furoshiki.
If you do like I did once and forget to pick up the purple furoshiki after killing the constables,
go into menu, journal and missions and fully cancel the mission. If you just re-kill the
constables after exiting the area the purple furoshiki will not drop.
Recovery
Issuer: Thief
Destination: Inn (Main Plaza)
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 5000 mon
Summary: Get back the final treasure.
How to: Get the green furoshiki on the 1st floor as this is a really small area. Once ready
head upstairs and enter the room to speak with Suzume:
Defeat Suzume in battle, once he's beaten everyone will take a knee. Speak with Suzume and
he retreats leaving the final treasure!
Once you're done with this mission speak with the thief back at the harbor to have him check
out the final treasure, you'll have to leave the harbor and go back to get the all clear message
for the thief line of quests though.
Gramps
He's located under the tracks in Little Britain and most of his missions involve good
intentions with bloody results.
In the area for each missions are 2 homeless men. Each time you help them you get 300+
mon. They each require 1 item, you to tell the other homeless person how they are and finally
some cash. The bonus can be nice but for the larger areas like the Back Roads I'd suggest not
bothering since it can take a lot of time.
To start getting missions from him you must say to gramps:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 1500 mon
Summary: Deliver an onigiri to a friend of Gramps'.
How to: As you might think from the name you'll need more then the onigiri Gramps gives
you. Get/ buy 2 of your own and select when you speak to any one of the 3 Destitute:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Main Plaza
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2000 mon
Summary: Talk to the vagabond who's associating with bad seeds.
How to: Because of how small the Main Plaza is be sure to help the 2 beggars here, they
generally want glass bottles which can be found towards the entrance to Little Britain on a
carpet.
Speak to one of the 4 Ruffian's who are surrounding the target and say:
Something Simple
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Town
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 2500 mon
Summary: Deliver thanks to the townie who showed kindness, along with a simple token of
appreciation.
How to: Like the above mission the town is simple enough that you should help those poor
beggars to get more money from Gramps.
Speak to your target by the dojo and say:
The Players
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3000 mon
Summary: Help the little girl get revenge for the murder of her parents.
How to: Gonna remind you again, the cemetery is small... help those beggars and get that
bonus! One of the beggars is likely to ask for a straw doll, it's on the shrine/ hut next to the
damaged bell, otherwise the item will be on the ground, just where is the question.
Speak with the Murderer and say
Protest
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 3500 mon
Summary: Express feelings of regret to Uchimada.
How to: After going to the harbor (and helping the beggars for bonus if you want, rubber
boots if they ask are south of Sushi-ya on the wooden deck past the stairs) speak with
Uchimada at his house in the north end of the harbor:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Back Roads
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4000 mon
Summary: Confirm the safety of Gramps' acquaintance.
How to: There are no beggars here cause of this being a 2 part mission (no reward for the 1st
part full for the 2nd). So just meet up with Gramps' friend near and say:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4000 mon
Summary: Deliver Gramps' bequeathment to Grandma.
How to: There will be the beggars here so help them 1st, then find Grandma at the south end
of the map saying:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Harbor
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 4500 mon
Summary: Borrow the bath in Uchimada's house.
How to: As you might imagine this isn't going to end well, so after helping those beggar
speak with Uchimada:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Magistrate
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 5000 mon
Summary: Voice your objections to the local government.
How to: As this is another part 1 no beggars here, just find your target and say to him:
Issuer: Gramps
Destination: Little Britain
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 5000 mon
Summary: Protect the area under the tracks from the government.
How to: The two beggars will be here so feel free to help 1st when ready speak to the
constable (and be ready for a big fight):
"Stop this!"
"Do constables habitually oppress the weak?"
"I don't stay out of ways. I get in them!"
Fight off a lot of constables to complete the mission
You should also speak with Gramps after this to get the all complete for finishing the last of
his well intended missions!
Amihama Eight
To start the ultimately mission you must 1st have completed all the missions for Gramps,
Nodobotoke, Kobato and the Thief and gotten the all clear message after their respective final
missions. Also to do the final mission the hospital must be open.
After this head to the Back Roads where you'll find a job giver sign near the exit to the
magistrate, speak with him and say:
You are able to start the 1st half of the final set of missions, to be able to go onto the
Amihama Eight mission speak with the Physician in the south-west corner of the hospital and
say:
From there head to the Town and speak with the Mistress in the north-east corner by the
gambling den:
Issuer: Kirisame
Destination: Cemetery
Time Period: All/ Indefinite
Reward: 10,000 mon
Summary: Team up with the Four Samurai Lords to take down the Yakuza Quartet.
How to: If you didn't get the mistress to get the medicine for gramps this is a simple kill
mission where after speaking with each of the Yakuza Quartet you fight them to the death.
After you defeat the Quartet I do suggest attacking the remiaing samurai lords to get their
unique weapons and styles.
If you did save gramps again speak with all four of the quartet the fight will begin however
the mistress will interrupt the duel before anyone goes down (you can deplete their health
they just won't die). Speak with her and say:
Which start the real final mission in the back roads. Before you leave for it do know this is
the only chance to kill the mistress for her style and weapon, I suggest taking it (reload if she
doesn't drop her style or you can't pick it up).
Now we start the slaughter. You have to kill about 250-300 enemies (based on the number of
kills I got and the fact that ally kills count as well ... can someone confirm?) to get to the next
part. Thankfully the game gives you messages letting you know what percent you're at (every
10%). The game save each kill! It gives these messages to let you know how far you are but
I've confirmed that you can leave at any point and it saves your current kill count. So if you
want to leave every time you have 10 swords in your weapon sack feel free to do so.
The enemies you face here will be tough, but they can drop several styles as well they're all
equipped with decent weapons. So come in with nothing in your weapon sack and every
checkpoint leave full for either melting down or saving to create your own weapons.
Also at about 25% killed Dojima joins the fight (if he's your smith, and obviously needs to be
alive but don't worry he'll still be at the forge when you leave), around 45% Sensei will join if
she's in charge of the dojo and finally at 65% Gramps joins in as well... not that you need any
help...
Once you get the all clear message you'll be in the small rest area, I'd suggest leaving and
saving to ensure you get the commanders style (and your allies styles if you decide to kill
them all after the mission). Once ready speak with the commander and say:
"Let's do it."
You'll fight the commander one on one, after killing him you'll complete the mission and earn
yourself a nice trophy in the process! Also worth noting you can use blunt attacks and he'll
commit Harikiri to end his life, which can be easier then killing him yourself.
After the battle you can speak to your allies to have them leave, so if you want to kill the All
eight samurai lords/ Yakuza Quartet for their styles and weapons I'd suggest 1st sending
Dojima and Sensei away so you don't have to kill them (unless you do want to kill them...).
Styles
Styles are basically the movesets of the game, unlike previous way of the samurai games the
styles are separated from the swords. So any sword can you any stance, and can be swapped
on the fly.
Earning new styles is simple, kill the user of that style and pick up their style book.
Remember you can only have 20 extra styles at a time! If you have your 20 extra, go to the
Dojo in town, there you can store styles to make room for new ones.
Below is a list of the styles in the game as they appear in the in-game menu, so some of the
styles are a bit out of order, but they're all there.

arms.
Stance: Shinobi Dual arms
Gun
Like Dual arms there are 2 requirements for guns. For pistols, kill J.J. either at the end of
Fevered Spirits or during the hidden path get the Dice of Destiny event. Rifles require you to
defeat Charles on hard, you fight him in the tournament if you side with the Prajnas.
Ulster Gun Arts
Location: J.J. when he has his gun equipped (Dice of Destiny event is the easiest)
Stance: Pistol
Sailor Rifle Arts
Location: Earned when you unlock the rifle option having defeated Charles on hard in the
tournament.
Stance: Rifle
Charlie Rifle Arts
Location: Defeat Charles, again in the tournament under the Prajnas flag
Stance: Rifle
Hand-to-hand
Hand to hand work by hitting L2 and Square, they do less damage but can be really fast. Also
you can get claws on hard/Harikiri by siding with the foreigners and fighting in the
tournament that let you increase your unarmed damage by a lot.
Adamantine Martial Arts
Location: The smithy at the smith. If Dojima is your smith you need to kill him and restart to
be able to get to this guy.
Notes: This style has a middle move that requires you to equip the tiger claws.
Casual Martial Arts
Location: Moro's stance, during Planned Raid, Break the Snare while siding with the Prajnas
or siding with Kogure during Strike in the Dark during the hidden path.
Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts
Location: Dojo challenger, must have a 5 star dojo of just women. Challenger is a half-naked
man.
Asasho Martial Arts
Learning moves
Below is a list of some of the common things to do to earn new moves. While checking your
style in the menu hit X on the unknown moves to see the requirement.
Also at the top of each sword are a set of passive, I'm not listing requirement and will likely
list the passives with the stances on a future update.
hit an enemy with a base move
Simple enough, just hit them with the move before this one
hit an airborne enemy with a base attack
This is harder. Each stance that has this has a move that makes the enemy airborn, so use
that then the combo where you need to unlock the move (like if your just triangle knocks
them up and your just square is where you need to unlock, hit triangle then bash square).
Also a dead enemy is still considered airborne until they come to a complete stop, so don't
give up when they die.
achieve a 30-hit combo during a Spring Harvest
Use a bad sword, if you need to hit an enemy 10-15 times to kill them with spring harvest
you'll reach 30 in no time.
finish off an enemy during a Spring Harvest
Easy enough, activate spring harvest and kill the 1st enemy to get in your way
defeat 10 or more enemies during a Spring Harvest
Much harder. The events Killing Casual Killing or Hooray! The Hospital's Grand Opening work
well. Also during the Yakuza/ Constable massacre missions you can get to 10, just use
chocolate before you start the combo, and have a few asura mushrooms in case you start to
run out of spring harvest.
Finish off an enemy
You'll end up getting these without even thinking, swords level in battle and you get kills
quick depending on the event you're in.
perform 250/400 or more damage
With a high attack sword this will happen without any effort. With a lower end sword use
the guard breaker (back to forward to triangle) or grab (L1 + triangle + forward).
hit an enemy with a base move when HP is lower then 250/500
These annoy me. Your life bar must be below 500 or worse yet 250 health, so chances are
you'll need little to no vitality since any enemy that can take you down to health or less
health easily is someone you don't want to fight with so little health. I'd recommend on easy
do the massacre yakuza mission, they hit for very little damage, so wait til they get you done
to less then the 500/250 you need and use the base move.
Lists of unlockables
Instead of creating a bunch of sections below is a bunch of lists of items to help you get
everything in the game.
Trophies
Below is a list of all the trophies in the game, their descriptions and my tips to earn them.
Platinum Trophy
Rank: Platinum
Acquired all trophies.
The big one, requires probably 90ish hours of work to get this one. The biggest/ most
annoying time sink is 100 Girls and Runnin', night crawling a single girl doesn't take a lot of
time, but 100 is a huge pain. The most difficult thing is finishing the ending The Light of
Hope on Harikiri, which isn't too bad if you're properly prepared.
Happy Ending
Rank: Gold
Watched the "Light of Hope" ending.
Check my ending guide for The Light of Hope if you need help.
Normal Ending
Rank: Silver
Played through to the ending.
Any ending completed other then The Light of Hope (maybe it works too..)
10,000 Pts Samurai
Rank: Silver
Acquired 10,000 samurai points.
Follow my ending guide for As a Demonscale on the hardest difficulty you can manage. You
should end up with the Samurai Lord title so long as you don't commit any crimes (don't kick
bodies!) and this can get you up to 3100 points on harikiri. Repeat until you have your 10,000
points.
Title King
Rank: Silver
Acquired all titles.
See my Titles sections, you have to get all 15 titles so at least 15 playthoughs.
While It's Hot
Rank: Bronze
Strengthened own weapon for the first time.
This will be gotten quickly, you'll want a powerful weapon soon enough.
Alchemist
Rank: Bronze
Melted 100 weapons total.
Just continue using the Extract option with useless weapons. You'll want plenty of ore for
ultimately weapons.
My Weapon My Way
Rank: Bronze
Forged an original weapon.
Again something you'll get soon enough, use Create at the smithy.
My Very Own Style
Rank: Bronze
Created a new fighting style.
At the dojo speak with the old fossil with a Blank Book and create a style.
First Disciple
Rank: Bronze
Enlisted a new disciple for the first time.
See my section Getting recruits section for details.
Bested Challenger
Rank: Bronze
Defeated a dojo challenger.
If you own the dojo and have a single disciple challengers will start coming/ annoying you
soon enough.
Undying Style
Rank: Bronze
Mastered the Tokyu fighting style.
This stance can only be mastered fighting dojo challengers or using scrolls.
Cherry Move
Rank: Bronze
Mastered a new move for the first time.
Should be one of your 1st trophies earned.
100th Move
Rank: Silver
Mastered 100 moves total.
It takes a while but will be earned long before you start thinking of getting platinum.
Skillful
Rank: Silver
Acquired 9,999 skill points.
Pretty much anything you do earns you skill points. So this simply takes time, and other takes
will take longer.
Collector
Rank: Silver
Acquired 100 different weapons.
I don't have a sword section atm, so either check Pang Tong's guide or go to the forum to see
a list of swords.
Artist
Rank: Silver
Acquired 50 styles, not including My Style.
See my Styles section for locations, but ultimately you need all 82 styles to platinum the
game anyways so this trophy should be easy enough.

Midnight Meeting
Rank: Bronze
Made a night crawling appointment.
This is the 1st step of nightcrawling, so speak to a random female and have her agree.
King of the Night
Rank: Bronze
Succeeded in a night crawling mission.
Go all the way with someone.
100 Girls and Runnin'
Rank: Silver
Successfully completed 100 night crawling appointments.
This is hell. Literally this will take 10+ hours on it's own. Have fun continually night
crawling!
Happy Pains
Rank: Bronze
Survived the torture game.
Get arrested have one of the sisters attack you. Ultimately you need to survive torture 20
times so this is easy enough.
Labor Union
Rank: Bronze
Successfully completed a job mission for the first time.
Doesn't matter who gives the job just complete a single side job.
Worker Bee
Rank: Bronze
Successfully completed 100 job missions.
Again a matter of time, if you complete missions for money this will happen naturally.
First Kill
Rank: Bronze
Killed an enemy for the first time.
Probably your 1st trophy... why is this a trophy anyways?
Fashionista
Rank: Silver
Unlocked all fashion items.
You need to complete The Light of Hope on harikiri for this, as all fashion items include all
accessories, all clothing options, all hair and skin colours.
Remember also you need all male clothing as well as all female clothing, you have to be a
male to get male stuff and a female to get female clothing at the Curio Shop (Tanukiya) store
in the main plaza on the west side.
Fish On
Rank: Bronze
Caught a fish for the first time.
Get some bait and catch something, fishing is easy enough in this game.
Great Angler
Rank: Bronze
Caught a total of 100 fish.
A matter of time really. This is annoying but doesn't take too long.
Fishing Legend
Rank: Silver
Caught the legendary fish.
I don't have great advice for this. In town one of the bodies of water has a chance to have a
golden fish in it. Use Earthworms as bait and try all the water bodies.
This includes the river on the east side, Dojima water bucket (if you're behind him you get a
good angle), the well north of Dojima, the well north of the Toasty truth bar (behind the
fences to the east side), the moat south of the toasty truth bar, and well in the north east
corner beside the gambling hall as well as the pool there too.
Again this is a bit of luck, if you keep catching other fish remember, you need to catch 100 of
them after all.
Swift Killer
Rank: Silver
Completed 100 combo strikes.
Use a crappy sword on a harder difficulty during a big fight. Doesn't take long, if you're
worried about running out of spring harvest gauge either use a Chocolate before the battle or
have a few Asura Mushrooms just in case.
Weapon Breaker
Rank: Bronze
Destroyed 10 enemy weapons.
Yubari Martial Arts has a counter move (back + triangle + R1) that can break swords in 2 to 3
uses depending on difficulty. Can also done by just having an enemy continuously attack you
while you guard, but better to use a hand to hand counter move (there are a few just
mentioning Yubari).
Lucky Streak
Rank: Bronze
Won 10 times at gambling.
Play poker or Koi-Koi at the gambling hall, eventually you'll get your 10 wins even if you get
100 loses before it (they aren't that bad though...).
Rank: Bronze
Defeated 15 invading duelists.
In the options there is an option to have online play. This trophy is earned by having your
character invade other players games and killing them in their game not killing other
players in your game.
I suggest you keep a good sword equipped, and if you're using a mastered stance with a good
damage reduction this should come soon enough. Having a sword with 3x big shot can almost
auto win this trophy too.
You Look Familiar
Rank: Bronze
Defeated your character from a previous playthrough.
Every time you complete an ending for a faction your character gets saved and can appear in
various areas. This is one of those trophies that you'll be happy to earn soon enough, but
annoyed by the amount of clones you have to deal with eventually.
Foodie
Rank: Bronze
Ate all the food from restaurants and food vendors.
Check the Food list section for a full list of food you need to eat.
Eight Samurai
Rank: Bronze
Successfully completed the final job mission.
Complete the side job The Amihama Eight, start at Amihama Eight if you don't know the
conditions to get to this massive mission.
Sensei's Destiny
Rank: Bronze
Changed Sensei's destiny.
See Getting Sensei for details.
Dojima's Redemption
Rank: Bronze
Changed Dojima's destiny.
See Getting Dojima as your smith for details.
Hardened Samurai
Rank: Bronze
Finished the game in hard mode.
Any ending will do but it must be an ending.
Master Samurai
Rank: Bronze
Finished the game in harakiri mode.
Like above, remember you have to do The Light of Hope on Harakiri to platinum, but doing
As a Demonscale can earn you this easily enough.
Titles
Below is a list of the titles and the approximate % you need at the end of the game to get it.
Doing good and bad missions effects this a lot, but more so "Unsuitable Conduct" reduce
the % fast, and any crime counts as one. So each time you kick a corpse, destroy an object...
pretty much anything that can get you arrested you get one more "Unsuitable Conduct".
To get a specific title I recommend following my ending guide for As a Demonscale. So long
as you don't do any crime you should hit 120% on normal or harder, even on easy I got 116%
which is enough for the highest required title Samurai Lord.
So what we want to do is complete step 5 and save, if you complete the tournament from here
you'll get samurai Lord, but since we want to get different titles we're going to drop our
percent by kicking a corpse to get whichever title you want. So create a corpse by killing
pretty much anyone and kick it. 5-10 kicks should drop you a single title (do more if you
need something lower, less if you're 1 or 2 titles away).
Save then complete the tournament and see if you got the title you want. If so you're done, if
you're still too high on the list create a new corpse and kick it a bunch repeating until you get
that title you need.

Weapon list
Below is a list of the weapons and where to find them. Been a while since I've gotten some of
these so let me know if there are any problems.
For platinum you need 100 types of weapons. There are 109 total, meaning you need a
majority of them for platinum. However swords in this game are purely cosmetic, all swords
can get max stats... so feel free to pick up a sword and drop it if you don't like the look of it,
you don't need to keep the sword for it to count just have picked one up at some point.

The bulk of the weapons are sword, most NPC's will be using these.

Item list
Below is a list of all items, their effects and where to get them. The base cost of each item is
what it would cost with a normal/ average crime rate and the hospital being closed. If the
crime rate is strong the cost deceases by 25% (weak increases by 25%) and if it's great crime
rate the item costs are dropped in half (1.5 costs for very weak crime). The hospital being
opened adds 10% to the cost of each item regardless of crime rate.
So an Onigiri costs 100 mon with average crime would cost 50 mon with great crime and 150
with very weak crime rate. If the hospital was open though, it's cost 110 mon for average, 55
for great crime and 165 for very weak crime.
Asura Mushroom
Description: Restores half your spring harvest gauge (500 points) and makes the gauge raise
quicker when you get kills/ combos during spring harvest for 30 seconds. I recommend trying
to keep a few of these on you at all times as spring harvest can turn a hard fight into a joke
fast.
Found: Constables drop them with some regularity, not found on the ground though.
Purchased From: Souvenir Shop in Harbor, Pharmacy in Town, Hospital in Little Britain
Base cost: 500 mon
Blade Oil
Description: When used this makes your sword indestructible for 5 minutes. This is great
when combined with guns, as their main draw back is how much each shot costs in durability.
Found: A rare drop, if you want some buy it.
Purchased From: Dojima in Town, Casino in Harbor
Base cost: 750 mon
Blank Book
Carrot
Description: Doubles defense for 30 seconds. I believe this actually gives a 50% damage
reduction and like the style skills the largest % is the only one used. So if you have a sword
with Toughen - Expert, this item is useless to use. Can also be used for fishing.
Found: One in the harbor (behind Sushi-ya up the stairs on some crates).
Purchased From: Pharmacy in Town, Emporium at Shrine, Hospital in Little Britain
Base cost: 500 mon
Chocolate
Description: Restores 50 vitality but more importantly makes spring harvest raise quickly
when getting kills/ comboing in spring harvest for 3 minutes! I generally always have 1-2 of
these on me as one gives enough bonus for most large fights, well worth the low cost.
Found: A rare drop, far easier to buy them.
Purchased From: Sweets Shop in Little Britain, Hospital in Little Britain, Bar in Black ship,
Casino in Harbor
Base cost: 150 mon
Dried Fish
Description: Great early game healing item, restores 500 vitality. Also can be used for
fishing.
Found: Enemies will drop it time to time, one or two can be found on the ground.
Purchased From: Souvenir Shop in Harbor, Emporium at Shrine
Base cost: 300 mon
Earthworms
Egg
Description: restores 150 vitality and slowly vitality use for 2 minutes. Useful item, but there
are better options.
Found: Off the top of my head I don't know if I've seen it dropped by an enemy, it does seem
to be the most common successful night crawling "proof of love".
Purchased From: General Store in Town, Used Goods at Magistrate
Base cost: 120 mon
High Grade Wine
Description: Double strength for 3 minutes and 200 life. The life restore is pretty useless, but
double strength can be beyond helpful in large fights.
Found: The Foreigners during The Amihama Eight mission drop these.
Purchased From: Bar in Black ship
Base cost: 500 mon
Krill
Description: Teaches a single move on a sword regardless of level requierments. Keep it for
moves with level 5 requirements you just can't be bothered to do yourself.
Found: Dropped by rare enemies.
Purchased From: Casino in Harbor
Base cost: 900 chips, can't be purchased with Mon.
Lure
Description: A must have item. When you die this fully restores your life to 1000. On
Harikiri especially enemies are capable of one shotting you if you don't have a good style to
go against them. Even on easy it's nice to have one or two of these just in case you mess up
big time in a major fight.
Found: A rare drop from named opponents.
Purchased From: Pharmacy in Town, Hospital in Little Britain, Casino in Harbor
Base cost: 3000 mon
Minnow
Moves Scroll
Description: Teaches a move that requires up to lvl 2 (maybe 3) on a style. Useful if you
don't like a style and want to get rid of it fast.
Found: Can be randomly dropped by a lot of different enemies
Purchased From: Casino in Harbor
Base cost: 300 chips, can't be purchased with Mon.
Mushroom
Description: restores a bit of the spring harvest gauge (150 points) but I wouldn't suggest
keeping a lot of them on you, there are far better options.
Found: Some enemies can drop them, they also grow in some areas (back roads have some,
as does the cemetary)
Purchased From: Souvenir Shop in Harbor, Emporium at Shrine
Base cost: 100 mon
Onigiri
Description: Basic healing item that is required for a few side quests. Restores 300 vitality.
Found: Lots of enemy can drop these, also can be found on the ground in a few areas.
Purchased From: Souvenir Shop in Harbor, Emporium at Shrine, Onigiri-ya in the Back
Roads, Used Goods at Magistrate
Base cost: 100 mon
Onigiri (Dried Seaweed)
Description: Restores 350-380 vitality, not a bad idea for it's cost, Dried Fish is better.
Found: Only purchasable at Onigiri-ya.
Purchased From: Onigiri-ya in the Back Roads
Base cost: 170 mon
Onigiri (Salmon)
Description: Restores 350-420 vitality, for it's cost might as well get a Dried Fish.
Found: Only purchasable at Onigiri-ya.
Purchased From: Onigiri-ya in the Back Roads
Base cost: 200 mon
Onigiri (Sour Plum)
Description: Restores 320-370 vitality, this could be usable more so then the other custom

Base cost: 600 mon
Red Pepper
Description: Double attack for 30 seconds and gives 300 life. The life is nice but the reason

Purchased From: Pharmacy in Town, Emporium at Shrine, Hospital in Little Britain
Base cost: 500 mon
Rotten Onigiri

Found: On the ground in the cemetery, enemies can drop it too.
Purchased From: General Store in Town, Onigiri-ya in the Back Roads
Base cost: 50 mon
Sake
Description: Double attack and half defense for 30 seconds. Although not a bad idea to use
the deceased defense makes this item not that good, especially compared to others (like Red
Peppers).
Found: Yakuza and thugs drop it.
Purchased From: Pharmacy in Town, Emporium at Shrine
Base cost: 300 mon
Sandworms
Soda Water
Description: Restores 200 vitality and increases vitality retention for 3 minutes. For it's cost
this can be a great purchase, espically early in when you don't have a Life & Death charmed

defense is lowered
Found: In the cemetery where the bell is. Also can be gotten while fishing.
Purchased From: General Store in Town

Super Earthworms
Description: Helps with vitality retention for 1 minute. Can be useful, but 1 minute just isn't
enough to justify the use of the item slot imo.

Purchased From: General Store in Town, Pharmacy in Town, Emporium at Shrine
Base cost: 50 mon
Umeboshi (L)

Smith
In the town area you can get Dojima (or his master) to work on your blade. It's the main way
to repair your sword and the only way to make it stronger. Below is a list of what he can do to
help you make your ultimately weapon of destruction. Also he does sell some weapon related
items and you can sell him anything as well.
Note to all vets and new people alike, you can only get 2000 durability and 500 attack
power nothing you do can make a sword exceed those numbers.
Refine
Refining is basic work on the sword, making a sword stronger or harder can be done to the
max degradation, after that you can still increase a sword's power with recasting.
make stronger This will increase the attack power of the sword, it gets better with higher
degradation levels so expect up to 16 until the 10th degradation, then it jumps to about 25ish
max, then up to 32 max then with 17+ you can actually see 40+. Feel free to reset if Dojima
doesn't give you a big enough number per upgrade if you want, but remember you can Recast
until you get max stats easily.
make harder Increases how much a sword can take, up to the max of 2000 durability. For
your 1st one or two swords it's fine to use this option instead of recasting the durability up but
after that you'll want to refine the strength and use recasting for durability since the increase
for durability is the same for both refining and recasting.
polish I'd say incorrectly named, but this repairs your sword and should be done regularly
regardless of how damaged your sword is as you never know when you'll end up in a big
enough battle to need the full durability.
Recast
Recasting does the same as refining, only it can be done beyond the max degradation. I do
recommend this only after you've hit the max degradation since you'll eat though your iron
fast. Each upgrade costs a certain amount of iron gotten though extracting sword (below).
This means you can make any sword godly, just some take a lot more effort then a sword
with a better stat.
make stronger Again same as above, this is why you're recasting. The bonus is typically
around 10-15 attack each time.
maker harder Do this right after hitting the max degradation to hit the limit of 2000
durability.
The ore you select doesn't have an effect on the stats, each ore above iron ore just takes less
ore to do the upgrade. If you needed 40 iron ore to upgrade you'd need 20 Ground Metal and
10 Dojima steel. This is to a limit of 99 iron ore, 50 Ground Metal, and 25 Dojima steel. The
final type of ore is called Hihiirokane and each one gives an upgrade on it's own, however to
get it you need to complete The Light of Hope ending on Harikiri... which makes it not worth
trying to get to upgrade things.
Below is a chart that is taken from the Japanese Wiki, it shows how much each upgrade
would cost based on how many above the max degradation (so 1st costs would be when your
sword is at 12/12 while 26/12 would be now maxed out), I don't doubt that it's right as I've
checked a few of these stats:
Type of Ore 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th+
Scrap Metal

12

So as you can see Dojima steel will max out at 25, though they aren't as easy to come by and
basically require you to be on hard or harikiri to show up regularly. Iron ore eventually takes
up 99 but most swords should be maxed out before hitting that mark.
Appraise
When your sword reaches certain levels in things you can appraise it to give it special
properties. The only working titles are the increased damage (that gives more attack power
based on the number of kills the sword has) and the increased durability swords that is based
on how much damage the sword has taken in it's life.
Titles can be replaced with better titles, so if you have enough kills for the assassin title when
you get 50 more kills you can replace it with the crazy eyes title. You lose the effect of the
title you replace though! So if you want to make a sword indestructible you can't also use
the oddity title to get a lot of attack power.

Extract
Extracting breaks down a sword into iron ore, this means your sword is destroyed when you
extract it. Expect swords you've gotten on easy or normal to give mainly iron ore. Swords
gotten on hard or Harikiri more commonly give Ground Metal or Dojima steel.
You use this ore to Recast your sword after fully upgrading it with Refine.
Create
Here you can take 3 sword parts (or 3 spear parts) and create your own sword. Charms are
basically what it takes to create an ultimately sword, so instead of spending hours resetting
when Dojima fails to give proper stats we're going to end up resetting when he fails to give us
the right charms!
Charms
So when you have a part it has 3 spots for charms. These can be combined to create special
effects on swords. You have to vertically align or horizontally align 3 of the same name. So a
little table to show what I mean (since I have no skills with paint...)
Blade Life & Death
Guard
Grip
Or
Blade Life & Death
Guard Life & Death
Grip Life & Death
You can have 3 charms on a sword, though I doubt 3 different ones could be done without
going insane...
To get 3 of the same there are several potential patterns (replacing Life & Death with
whatever charm you desire):
Blade

Also the grip could have the 3 while the blade has 2.
Or
Blade Life & Death Life & Death Life & Death
Guard
Grip Life & Death Life & Death Life & Death
Having a few of these makes it so your sword's durability deceased extremely slowly, which
would be useful if it wasn't for the fact you can make your sword indestructible.
Backwater
Increased attack as your health drops, never pick this up as you should never want to have
anything less then the full 1000 life.
Big Shot
Increases damage of guard breaking/ unguardable attacks, this can make even Harikiri very
easy.
Dark Sword
Increased power during the night, no effect during the day or evening.
Fortune
Set chance to revive on death and given 250 life when killed, I haven't tested but apparently
it's about a 70% chance to revive when you have 3 Fortune charms on a sword.
Life & Death
If you do nothing (including guarding) after a few seconds your vitality will increase on it's
on. This is a must on at least one equipped sword to prevent the need to spend a lot of money
on items/ eating.
Light Sword
Increased power during the day, no effect during the evening or night.
Midas
Make it so you guard grab attacks automatically. For those that have played previous WotS
game this is like you've matched the grab moves.
Squall
Makes it so certain attacks will pass though you when you dodge. Imo this is completely
useless, as your dodge should have you get out of the way completely, if you can't then you
should be guarding not hoping the attack will go though you.
Getting Dojima as your smith
We want to get Dojima as the blacksmith, he does slightly better with swords but more
importantly he doesn't leave Day 4. The basic idea to convince him is to continue finding out
about his and Hanpei's past. After a while he fights you and when you deplete his vitality he
decides to go back to work
After you speak with him again he'll let you know he's heading back to be retrained.
From here it's repeatedly checking the parts to see if you've gotten a good part then creating a
sword to dismantle. This can be painful to do and you can see the math below in my Math
behind charms.
So a simply step by step would be:
1. Decide which charm you want, start a game on the highest difficulty possible. Skip the
harbor battle (or fight in it if you want...)
2. Dismantle all your swords to have parts in your inventory
3. Check the parts at Dojima, if a part has a good combo of charms replace it with a filler part
and save the good part in the dojo storage (save game after!).
4. Create swords with the parts that don't have the right charms/ filler parts.
5. Dismantle them, repeating steps 2 to 5 until you have a blade, guard and grip that will allow
you to create a sword with 3x of the charm you wanted.
Making it unbreakable
So we have a sword with max stats, now to give it the best title in the game! To make a sword
unbreakable we need to repair the sword repeatedly. Specifically we need to break and fully
repair the sword 100 times. Thanks to ReignOfDestiny for posting an "easy" method to do
this.
We need a few things 1st. Toho swordfighting from the level 5 dojo challenger. The sword
Morning Moon that is the hard weapon drop from Orochi during the during Four Samurai
Lords vs Yakuza Quartet or after the event The Amihama Eight mission (you have to attack
him after either mission) When we put the 2 together we can learn Toho's secret move Kuruhi
Kabuki and eventually get it on a custom style (once you learn it check it again, basically get
10 kills with this move during spring harvest).
We'll also need money so for each sword make sure you at least have 5000 mon for great
crime and the hospital closed, though I'd suggest getting 10K each sword just in case.
So now we want to create a custom ninja stance, I suggest just adding Kuruhi Kabuki and the
best -vit use (not needed but can be helpful), naming the stance something like sword
breaker... since we're only using this stance to break swords. I suggest this cause
ReignOfDestiny has managed to freeze his game hitting the mountain of bodies we're about
to create with different moves.
With our custom style in tow we need a bunch of corpses, I'd suggest taking the mission from
Sakotsu while the crime rate is great. The mission will have you kill 25 enemies, and since
the game will only allow about 8 corpses kill 16 to 17 of them before heading to one of 2
spots I suggest.
The 1st area as part of the original strategy is right outside the exit to the main plaza, on the
south side of this ally near the end is a small room. On the side of this room that's a triangle is
where we want to gather our corpses. Enemies fighting you will continue to walk around you,
so enter this small room and try to kill them as close to the corner you want them in. From
there you can use Kuruhi Kabuki to move the ones that didn't end up close enough to the
corner.
The 2nd area I somewhat prefer myself is right outside of the language school, in the southeast corner to be exact. This area isn't as good to keep the corpses in line so you might have
to gather them up again using Kuruhi Kabuki but the reason I prefer this area is the small
room from the main method has camera issues. Here you're really close to Dojima, few
people will bug you (more then the 1st area) since they can see what you're doing.
Really this method works in any corner ultimately, but the closer to Dojima the better (not
too close though, he doesn't like you having a drawn weapon near him...).
Once you have a small corpse pile stand a few steps back from it and use Kuruhi Kabuki. As
it slashes back and forth it doesn't do a lot of damage to your sword, but the final swing will
do at least 150 damage per target hit. If you're positioned right you can destroy a sword with
a single move. Also guarding makes it so you don't move while using the back to forward
that Kuruhi Kabuki needs.
Once you've destroyed your sword (or swords if you're doing more then one at once) repair
them by selecting Refine then polish. To get indestructible title without doing anything else
you'll need to do this 99 more times (100 total). This can take 45+ minutes depending on how
good you are. While it's a pain to re-create the corpse pile feel free to do this a few times
instead of all at once, as this is pretty boring but will be worth the effort imo. I also highly
suggest saving every 5-10 times you break your sword, I've yet to have my game freeze but I
don't doubt it's possible as Kuruhi Kabuki has made my game go slower.
Simple Step by step:
1. Get Toho Swordfighting and Morning Moon Sword to master Toho fighting.
2. Put Kuruhi Kabuki on a custom style to be able to use it on a sword other then Morning
Moon
3. Start a Yakuza massacre mission given by Sakotsu (preferable the 25 one having great crime
already)
4. Kill until less then 10 kills needed to finish the mission. Head to either the small corner room
on the way to the main plaza or just outside the Language school.
5. Kill the rest trying to get all the corpses to gather in a corner.
6. Use Kuruhi Kabuki to gather the corpses up.
7. Again use Kuruhi Kabuki on your corpse pile, start a few feet away and hopefully each time
you can destroy your sword in a single use.
8. Get Dojima to repair your sword.
9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until Dojima offers Indestructible! (saving every once in a while)

So what does this mean? Well if all 11 possibilities had an equal chance they'd all be around
9% of the total. As you can see blank spots take up over 40% of the total, so what I'm using is
a bit pessimistic but one of the lowest numbers. So for my math I'm using 5%, or 1/20 chance
to get a single charm as well as mentioning what it would be like if the chance was
completely equal (1/11).
So while creating an ultimate sword each part must have 2 of the same charm. Ideally you'd
have a 1/121 chance for each part with the lowest odds to be about 1/400. As you can
imagine this is a HUGE difference, and no matter where the odds are on a single try you'll get
the combination you want 0.8% of the time down to .25% chance. On that note, the chances
of getting a 3 charm combo (all the same charm or a specific combo of 3 different charms on
a single sword) would be 1/1331 ideally or down to 1/8000 with our lowest odds, so I suggest
NEVER trying to create a sword that has 3 different charms, it will take forever.
Ok so now for a bit of hope, sure your chances to get that part the way you want is less then a
single percent for a single try but we're trying many times over! so for 5 tries the formula
would be: 1- ((120/121)^5) or 4.06% probability for ideal conditions, with the 1/20 chance it
drops to 1.24% which isn't that great but this only takes a few minutes to do if you do as I
suggest and have 5+ sets of parts to take apart and put back together.
So keep at it: with 50 tries the odds for ideal condition jump to 33.96% while the 1/20 odds
jump to 11.76%. 100 tries makes ideal odds 56.39% and 1/20 odds to 22.14%.
So yes, the odds to get the part right will never be extremely high without a lot of effort. All
we can do is keep trying, I've made several 3 charm swords with specify parts in mind and
each one has taken hours to make. It takes a long time to get things right, but don't worry it
will happen so long as you keep at it!
I'm also going to note here that ReignOfDestiny used 3/121 for a lot of his calculation, while
he may disagree with me using 1/121 the fact is my math is success per part not per sword, as
eventually you'll get 1 part done, then 2... and be left just wanting to get that final part done.
Dojo
Located in the town area, in the south/ south-west corner the dojo offers a few things to do
regardless if you own it or not.
1st you can store items/ weapons and styles on the shelf in the corner to your left as you enter
the room
Speaking with the Old Fossil (only person here right now) you can ask to own the Dojo. Once
you do you can recruit diciplies, face off against challenger and create your own style.
Also the style he'll give you Tokyu Fighting Style Swordfighting can only be leveled by
fighting challengers here.
Getting recruits
To get a recruit beat any random person in the streets with the back of your sword. They'll
take a knee and you're given 3 options, the last option "I'm making you my disciple!" will
make you attempt to recruit them. One of 2 things will happen: 1 they accept and join your
dojo, 2 they kick you. If you're kicked, kick them back! they'll take a knee again and you can
try to get them to join again. If they refuse a few times they'll run away rather fast and you
can't get them.
To get a 5 star dojo you need quality recruits, and I do believe what the Japenese wiki says
about recruits is true. They have a ranking of 1-4 random people have a set ranking and
armed people like the Constables, demonscales, Prajnas, yakuza, ronin etc have a random
rank of 1-4. So who do we want? I've recorded the citizen ranks but basically we want
women!
(below is taken from

So apart from the nurses in the consulate, and Blondie soldiers all women are gold for your
dojo. In fact you need 20 women to earn the Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts
Challengers
The challengers offer several of the styles in the game, they depend on dojo rank. I plan to lay
out all the challengers here in a future release, for now just know each rank offers 2 new
challengers, and it seems like the higher rank you go the better your students are at beaten
back challengers without dying.
Getting Sensei
You might notice when you get the dojo there's a challenger nearly every 10 seconds. Each
time you go from one area to the next there's a chance of a challenger arriving. Having sensei
in your dojo will make it so that each time a challenger appears they're nearly instantly
defeated.
To get sensei you have to make her take several jobs, my detailed method is below:
On the back road see Sensei in the east side near the rest area, say to her:
o "Are you all right?"
o "What will you do now?"
o "There's work available in the Clothing Store."
In The Main Plaza west side in Curio Shop say to her:
o "How's Retail?"
o "I hear the sushi shop is doing well..."
Head to the Harbor, Sushi-ya on the south-west side to say:
o "...is it fun?"
o "Security at the gambling den?"
Head into the gambling den at night (in Town, north-east corner) to give her the next job:
o "How are you liking it?"
o "Maybe you should work with children."
If the language school is closed she'll be outside, otherwise she's inside with the kids in the
evening so tell her:
o "How are you enjoying it?"
o "You could always teach at my dojo..." (you have to own the dojo to get her to join)
And there you have it, Sensei has joined and should right away start destroying all
challengers!
Night Crawling
The section I just don't really care to explain! Basically this is a mini-game where your
character tries to get in bed with all the women of Amihama!
In order to successfully night crawl someone you must 1st make an appointment, which is
simple for random women (but annoying) but can be complex for the 7 women who you can
night crawl.
After that during the night you must go to the person's home and find them without getting
caught by anyone else in the house. If you're not sure where the house is within the journal
under night crawl it shows the area it's in, and within that area will be a double heart icon to
indicate it's for the night crawl mission.
When you get to the women both go to the inn and have to fight to undress them (doesn't
everyone wins at this point normally?).
This section details the basic how's of it, you're likely going to have to try it out to really
grasp it... overall this is a really simple mini-game that you have to do 100 times over for the
platinum, so if you're not going for platinum I'd suggest not really bothering with this minigame in the 1st place.
Making the appointment
As mentioned above normal girls are different then the named characters, if you're looking to
night crawl a main character look below.
To make an "appointment" speak to any of the female characters and select the bottom option
I think I'm in love. From here you need to say the right pickup lines to have her agree to go
with you. The 1st two sets of questions I have a decent idea what they do, the next 2 are more
about the reaction you get from the girl you're hitting on and I can't really say what they do.
The 1st set of lines is about the time of day. The 2nd set of lines is about the women's age, I
think I know what you need to use for which age but some models of NPC's seem to be able
to fit in 2 of the categories. From there depending on their reaction you seem to have to select
different options for the next 2 responses... I honestly never found a good pattern to say
exactly which option is the right one.
Night Crawl
Now that you've set a date it's time to get her out of her home! I suggest saving before
attempting this as the NPC's can be weird at times. Basically this makes it seem like you're a
kidnapper trying to take their women away! What you have to do here is find the bed that is
hiding the women you're trying to be with and take off the covers of her bed (by pressing
square).
You'll know you're near the right bed by the turtle in the lower left corner (near your health).
As he comes out of his shell you're close to the right bed... when you're right beside the right
bed he's completely out of his shell.
All this is made difficult by the other NPC's that are still awake, if you're found they'll either
attack you or run to call the thief takers. So .... we don't want that to happen so we can do one
of two things, either stay out of their sight or knock them out. Knocking out an NPC is pretty
easy, just get behind them and hold R1 and triangle, if your chop connects they're knocked
out.
What I suggest doing is 1st put the mini-map in the corner so you know where you're going.
Then start going around, trying to see if the turtle reacts (if it does you're close). When you
see an NPC I suggest simply avoiding them if you can... a lot of them are just looking at the
wall and will never see you, and if you knock them out they'll make a sound as they hit the
ground somewhat alerting others. If the NPC is patrolling then it's a decent option to knock
them out, just move on fast. When you do find the right area get close to the bed's, you
should be able to tell if they're right just by getting close.
Now if an NPC does find you make sure to knock them out fast. If they start attacking you try
to circle them to knock them out. If they go for the thief takers chase them, they eventually
take a knee (since no one apparently has any stamina) for you to catch them. If they manage
to leave the house you'll need to either find your target fast or get ready to leave since as soon
as the thief takers come you either end it by leaving the house or getting caught, you fail
either way when they appear.
Sexy time
Yup that's right the final part to successfully night crawl someone is called sexy time.
Apparently you need to fight the girl you're night crawling to remove her clothing. You can
do this in one of 2 ways, either attacking with square until she runs out of health or use the
grab (R1 + triangle ) and throw her onto the bed. All the while you're doing this your partner
will attack you as you get near them, you have a limited amount of health but if you do have
some Medicines you'll use them if you run out of health.
If you're night crawling a normal women it really doesn't matter what you try, the square
combo will likely win the entire match if it all connects. If you're night crawling one of the
main character they'll have a LOT of health. So it's far better to simply grab and throw them.
to throw an enemy I generally try getting near them to get them to attempt a move while
being far enough away not get hit, the delay for the "partner's" move should let you grab them
no problem and throw them, if you didn't manage to get them on the bed try again as
normally I can grab them a 2nd time if needed... but that can be hard to aim.
Once you've managed to undress your partner you win! Afterwards you're outside the inn
being given a random item and most of your vitality will be gone.
Main female character appointments
Below is a list of how to night crawl all the female characters in the game
Nightcrawl Mayu
For all 3 sister you must get arrested 3 times at a specific crime rate. Basically you must
endure their form of torture 3 times, the last time you must get a high score (above 100 I
believe) and they'll set a date that night. All 3 of them have the same layout for night
crawling, they'll be up the stair in the north-east corner of the building.
For Mayu the crime rate must be good or great.
Nightcrawl Chika
See above, for Chika you must keep the crime rate neutral. This can be annoying since you
need to commit crimes to get arrested.
Nightcrawl Yuri
See above, for Yuri the crime rate must be bad or very bad.
Nightcrawl Melinda
Melinda is really annoying to get, basically you must defeat her with blunt attacks in every
event possible she's in, and find her after the battle tournament. I'm going to write a step by
step because of the possibility of just missing one event so...
This method involved closing the hospital, if you want to keep the hospital open you'll have
to re-open it on another playthough.
My Method:
1) Harbor - Amihama Harbor Skirmish
-Be sure to tell Akagi to "Take your hands off her!" when prompted and beat the Prajna fast
enough so you have to fight Akagi, Melinda then Kotobuki.
2) Little Britain - Audience with the Littlest Public Servant
Simple intro event.. which you're going to ruin by drawing your blade on Melinda!
Remember you need to use blunt attacks against her from here on it, as she will die if you
use regular attacks.
3) Toasty Truth Bar (Town) - Violent Behavior of the Marine Corps
Get rid of the marines, then attack Melinda.. Akemi is a little scared of this failing the event...
but that doesn't matter.
-For this method you must close the hospital as you fight Melinda during it.
5) Magistrate - Denying Western Medicine or Plan to Shut Down the Hospital
Easy fights, just be sure to take cash from the sisters as playing with them would be them
torturing you... not much of a reward imo, but if you're into it...
This won't be important for the ending, but do the next few events so that the Prajna will
support you for the tournament.
11) Cemetery - The Truth
You don't have to kill Akemi here really, we're not going for the ending.. but do so if you
want.
12) Harbor - Break the Snare
Spare Moro if you like, doesn't matter for getting Melinda in bed...
-auto event The Chief Minister's Big Move13) Shrine - Blades of the Patriots
Agree to being in the tournament under the Prajnas name.
14) Main Plaza - Battle Tournament Opens and We Are the Champions
Be sure not to kill Melinda in the final round... otherwise this is the same as always, finish
the 3 fights then leave the tournament grounds saying "I wish to be excused"
15) Main Plaza - inside the restaurant on the east side of the area
Melinda will be in here say to her "Because I want to fight you again." to set the date!
Save before attempting to night crawl Melinda. The area will be crawling with marines
and blondies... anyways Melinda will be in the south-west corner room... it's hard to get here
without being spotted so you might want to rush it but to each his own.
Nightcrawl Akemi
To night crawl Akemi 1st thing we need to do is give her fish. 10 to be exact most types will
work, some don't (she doesn't like crawfish for example).
Doesn't matter when this is done so long as it's done before the event The Truth. And since
we need to see that event following my guide for The Flames of Prajna is what I'd
recommend. Save after step 10 the event Kill the traitor (it's your last chance since it locks
you into doing the night crawling after the next event).
At step 11 instead of saying you overheard her say in order when prompted:
Which apparently works... anyways you'll be in the bar, upstairs to nightcrawl but you can't
leave the bar as time advances if you do.
Akemi will be in the southern most room, in the western bed.
Nightcrawl Laura
Do events for the foreigners until day 3 midday (follow my ending guides Setting Off to
Foreign Lands if you want step by step, basically up to step 10).
After you get Laura her medicine completing the event The Ambassador Collapses it might
not be required but speak to J.J.
Leave Little Britain so it becomes night and come back, The lost and found shop below the
tracks should have an item for sale called mysterious key. Purchase this and then save (just in
case you're caught).
You now need to enter the consulate, but you can't get close to J.J. so hug the east side wall
and you should get in without triggering the event. From there go to Laura's room on the 2nd
floor to attempt to nightcrawl her.
She'll always be on the west side room of the house, but there are a lot of Blondies/ marines
here, so I suggest just running past them to the bed Laura's in.
Now I'm pretty sure the somewhat comical event that happens next is the only possible thing
that can happen... for clear reasons they took out the ability to do it with Laura...
Nightcrawl Sensei
First and foremost Sensei must not be at the dojo at the start of a playthough where you
intend to night crawl her. So if she's at the dojo you'll have to kill her.
I suggest following The Light of Hope ending path and just going as far as getting Akagi to
the hospital, as it's easier then the other endings to deal with Getting Sensei, however you can
work getting her in any ending.
Once she is at your dojo you need to get a 5 star rating. It doesn't matter who's in your dojo
just so long as they're good quality (see Dojo section for tips of who to get). When you get
the 5 star rating with Sensei at your dojo speak with her and say:
I'm listening...
Partake of my loins.
Defeat her with the back of your sword and speak with her, you should get the scene that you
made the appointment.
Sensei will be in the north-west corner of this house, once again there are a lot of towns
people here, you'll likely be caught, so run past them and get Sensei out of bed!
Main male character appointments
All you need for all the guys is the right style, Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts. To get this style
you must have a 5 star dojo with all females. There'll be a challenger who uses it.
Equip this style and attack one of the below 7 male characters. Doesn't need to be a blunt
attack and you should see a unique animation when you attack.
Nightcrawl Shigeru Moro
Moro is easy enough to find we normally is in the Magistrate area. Find him beat him with
Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts until he agrees to go with you.
Nightcrawl Reddo Akagi
Akagi and Kogure both are normally in the Shrine area except during certain events. Again
using the Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts beat him till he agrees to it.
Nightcrawl J.J.
J.J. spends pretty much all his time in the consulate in Little Britain. Find him and use the
Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts to get him to go with you.
Nightcrawl Jinrai Kogure
Akagi and Kogure both are normally in the Shrine area except during certain events. Again
using the Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts beat him till he agrees to it.
Nightcrawl Hikaru Kotobuki
Kotobuki spends all his time at the Magistrate inside the building. Attacking with the Nightly
Pleasure Martial Arts to set the date with him.
Nightcrawl Gunji Dojima
It's a lot easier to get Dojima as your smith so he's always in Town. Once again attack with
the Nightly Pleasure Martial Arts until he agrees to the date.
Nightcrawl Onsen Kinugawa
Kinugawa can be rather annoying to get since he isn't always there. I suggest following the
Road to Ruin ending, after step 10 the event The Chief Minister & The Three Sisters you can
find him upstairs in the center area. So for the final time attack him with the Nightly Pleasure
Martial Arts style till he agrees to go with you.
Crime Rate
Crime rate determines a few things, who appears everywhere (Constables are really common
with a great crime rate, yakuza with bad crime) and more notable the cost of things.
With average crime, to repair your blade at the smith it costs 100 mon. With Great crime rate
it drops it to 50 mon, while a horrible crime rate will up it to 150 mon. Repairs costs aren't
that bad, but upgrades can cost several thousand, so 50% more adds up fast.
Also the crime rate affects what a store has for sale. As the crime rate gets better stores can
offer more items.
So a rule of thumb, keep the crime rate at great if you can.
Now what effects crime rate:
Missions for the Yakuza in town, or the Constables in the Magistrate area have the
greatest effects. (the kill X for Mistress and Sakotsu let you easily manipulate fthe
rate)
Sleeping outside raises the crime rate, sleeping at the inn lowers it
Attacking lawmen raises the rate, not sure if killing random Yakuza lowers it at all
Destroying things can raise the crime rate
Torture
Getting Arrested
Getting arrested is easy, attacking people, drawing your weapon, destroying crates in front of
thief-takers or constable will have them blow their whistle and they'll attempt to kick you
down. Each kick that connects on you takes about 1/4 of your vitality, and if they take it all
and kick you again you're done and arrested.
Torture Types
There are 3 types of torture, done by a few plot events but mostly seen as punishment for
doing something bad. If you don't want to deal with the torture if you're done something bad,
when the sister comes, you can talk to her and pay 1000 mon to skip out of the torture (time
still passes) What you endure/ and who does it is determined by the crime rate so:
When crime is bad/very bad
Super Rock Press is done by Chika
I find this really easy. There are 5 spots to move between using the left stick. I stick to either
side of Chika, as Chika in the middle will randomly attack you as the stones fall. Moving left
or right I can do this torture without every needing to brace myself.
When crime is normal/neutral
Hell Horse by third sister Yuri
Use circle to raise, not too high as you can hit the ceiling. Brace with X when Yuri goes to hit
you with her weapon, also be aware she can kick you 3 times in a row.
When crime is good/great
Human Waterwheel done by 1st sister Mayu
This is annoying. You need to bash circle when you're above water, and as you're about to go
understand hit/bash X to brace which you'll to take no damage. This is the hardest one so
don't feel bad if you don't do so well.
After torturing you depending on how many points you got the sister who just tortured you
may attack you again, so be prepared to brace again with X as this CAN kill you.
