Agenda 1: Speech by the Panel Head


The Panel Head welcomed all of the English Language teachers to the first Panel
Meeting 2015. He thanked Pn. Martina Balan for being the secretary of the English
Language Panel. Now, she was transferred to Belaga, her hometown. This year, Mr.
Tengku Hafiz a new English teacher will be taking her place as the secretary. He also
thanked Mr. Tengku Hafiz for being able to replace Pn. Martina Balan to teach Year 3
& Year 4. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the poor UPSR result in 2014 and
hoped that this year the UPSR result will improve greatly.

Agenda 2: UPSR Result in 2014


Last year, the result was very poor and all the candidates were failed in UPSR 2014.
We had determined to improve the result of the UPSR this year. We will plan an
extra class for the candidates at least once per week. All of the English teachers will
collaborate together to improve our teaching techniques that can be applied to the
pupils. We also will arrange and make a new lesson plan format, so that the same
format will be used by all the English teachers.

Agenda 3: UPSR Candidates 2015


Only 9 candidates will be sitting for UPSR 2015. The quantity passes target for 2015
is 60%. The quantity target is that 2 pupils to score A, 2 pupils to score B and 5
pupils to score C.

Agenda 5: Daily Lesson Plan and Yearly Scheme of Work


The English Daily Lesson Plan should be formatted based on the KSSR format.
Yearly Scheme of Work will be based on curriculum standards for KSSR Year 1 to 5.
Year 6, Daily Lesson Plan and Yearly Scheme of Work remain unchanged, but the
KSSR modules can be introduced to Year 6. The Scheme of Work is to be completed
by the end of January. The units in the textbook should be followed closely. The Daily
Lesson Plan for Year 3 & 4 has been prepared during Bengkel Pemantapan PdP.

Agenda 6: Monthly Test

Under KSSR Year 1 to 5, the test to be conducted and the results will be key-in into
Sistem Analisis Peperiksaan Sekolah (SAPS) system. Year 6 will be given Actual
Result (AR) test by PPD.
Action: All English Language Teachers

Agenda 7: Contemporary Literature or Language Arts


For Year 1 to 5, teachers refer to Teachers Guidebook KSSR Year 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
alongside with the textbook. Year 6 short stories and poem are used to teach
Language Arts.
Year 6 Shorty and The Case of a Missing Mathematics Teacher
One book to be taught within three months and one or two periods per week are to
be used to teach Language Arts.

Agenda 8: Information Communication Technology Learning


ICTL to be taught to the pupils. English Language Teachers are follow to ICT Literacy
for Primary School Teaching Guide to teach the pupils. None of the computers
functioning in the ICTL room as in year 2015. So, ICTL cannot be implemented due
to the lack of facilities here.

Agenda 9: English Language Corner


The subject teacher is to be responsible for putting up materials at the English
Language Corner in the classroom. To instill learning interest, teaching aids such as
notes, pictures, charts, articles, sample questions and answers or any form of useful
materials are to be displayed at the English Corner.
Action: All English Language Teachers

Agenda 10: workbook with the latest UPSR format

UPSR candidates should be widely exposed to the examination format teaching. Full
paper exercises should be given more frequently as an addition to the AR tests.
Action: Year 6 English Language Teacher

Agenda 11: ways to improve the standards of English in the school


1. Pupils speaks English in the classroom with their friends and teachers.
2. Teach English through singing and language games.
3. Conduct English Language Competitions such as quiz, reading, speaking and
cursive writing.
4. Encourage pupils to read books in the library after school hours.
5. English Language week will be implemented during school hours.

Agenda 12: Other Matters Arising


1. Remedial activities spelling and repeating exercises given.
2. Enrichment activities pupils who have potential are identified and they are
given more challenging exercises.
3. Exam Oriented Teaching for UPSR candidates to expose and familiarize
pupils with types of questions in the examination.

As there was no matter to be discussed. The meeting was adjourned at 4.00 P.M
