The Optimum Solution for service and support

TSA

Technical Support and Applications

Optimum Service
TSA - or Technical Service and Applications - is established to increase the professional
diesel engine maintenance and offer technical support, machines, turn-key solutions and
training within 24 hours on-board, at powerplants and in workshops.

Core Values
TSA is based on the core values of:
Quality, Efficiency, Confidence and Trust
Accuracy according to engine manufacturer specifications
Time saving and substantial cost savings due to efficient maintenance
Flexibility

Professional & Certified Crew

Our TSA Crew is carefully recruited and well trained, experienced, dedicated and certified
experts with many years of experience as marine engineers, chief engineers and work
managers at leading shipyards, and offers a wide range of problem shooting, technical
support and maintenance.
They are also certified for installation of our partners high quality products requiring superior precision installation, commisioning, overhaul or repair.

Worldwide workshops
The TSA Crew operates from
worldwide workshops fully
equipped with Chris-Marine and
IOP Marine maintenance equipment, where we can offer complete technical support.
Our stationary workshops are
located at Chris-Marine head
quarters in Sweden as well as in Singapore, Shanghai and the Bahamas.

Cylinder Liner Maintenance

Optimize Engine Performance
The engines performance depends on how well the cylinder liners are working, therefore cylinder liner maintenance is of extreme importance in securing the optimal running
condition.
Cylinder liners in poor condition in terms of ovality, bore polished surface and an unnecessary high cylinder liner oil lubrication feed (over lubrication) will affect the engines overall
performance, which is why cylinder liner maintenance is of extreme importance in securing the optimal running condition.

Potential Problems

Ovality
Increased risk of blow-by.
Increase fouling of cylinder lubricant oil
Increase the wear of piston ring and piston ring groves
Bore polished surface
Increase the cylinder liner lubricant needs
Increase risk of scuffing
Increase the risk of cylinder liner break down
Rapidly increase wear in upper part (trumpet shape)
Over lubrication
Collapse of piston rings

All above problems will affect engine performance and

increase the risk of break down.

Save money on costs and running time

To hone the liners during piston ring change is perhaps the most optimum situation in
terms of costs. To hone a 2-stroke engine cylinder liner from 6-hours up to 16-hours
depending on size, the cylinder liners present condition and total running hours without
honing.
Cylinder liner honing will keep the cylinder liners in good condition, the lubricant feed rate
according to engine makers specification, increase the life time of cylinder liner and piston rings, minimize risk of scuffing, blow-by, deposits, reduce the running in time of new
piston rings and the cylinder liner running costs at minimum.

TSA can help you:

Honing can be done at port stay or dry docking.

Honing can be carried out in-situ without pulling liner and piston
Honing of auxiliary engines

Furthermore, the TSA Crew performs machining for retrofitting of PC/AP-rings and machining piston cleaning rings in the liner.
We also perform special works such as horisontal honing of gas-pipes and fine honing of
bearing brackets.

SIP-Lubrication System Installations

We are certified for selling and carrying out installation of HJ Lubricators, SIP-valves and
for preparation of cylinder liners for SIP-valves. For SIP II systems, this can be done
without pulling out the liner on MAN Diesel and Wrtsil engines.

In-Situ Services
The TSA crew performs turn-key jobs on Chris-Marine maintenance products, including:
Cylinder liner surfaces machining
Honing
Slide valve modification of cylinder heads
Wave cut grinding
Oil pockets machining
Wear edge removal
Preparation and machining for anti-polishing ring
Milling o-ring groves
Grinding and/or lathing of landing surfaces
Special machining for insert rings
Liner Diameter Measuring
Special applications on request

Fuel Analyzer Installations

A high cat fines content in the fuel system is likely to cause cylinder and piston ring wear damages in low-speed engines. When an engine fails due to excessive wear, the overhaul will normally
require new cylinder liners or in some cases reconditioning of damaged liners in addition to new
piston rings.
By monitoring the cat fines level with the Fuel Analyzer it therefore becomes possible to keep the
onboard fuel treatment system in good condition.
The TSA Crew installs the Fuel Analyzer in your vessel or power plants fuel system and ensures
optimum operation and monitoring.

Engine Block / Engine frame Maintenance

Engine frame

Stop cooling water leakages between engine frame and cylinder liner as well as reducing
corrosion and the cooling water treatment chemical dosage. Special attention is paid to
landing surfaces and machining for insert ring.

Cylinder Cover

Machining or grinding valves, valve seats and landing surface towards cylinder liner as
well as slide valve machining and pockets for oversized seats.

Propeller Lathe
Even well-proven blade foot sealing systems
get wear downs. The normal procedure is to
change the O-ring and to machine the blade
foot.
Chris Marine has developed a new lathe, and
the method is tested with very good result.
Blade sealing rings are placed between blade
foot and hub. A compressed O-ring seals
against the blade foot and the hub.
This design ensures maximum reliability and
sealing without leakages, also under extreme
abrasive wear conditions.
Time for alignment and cutting on a blade with
foot diameter at 420mm is about 30min.
The FSL is portable and easy to move.

Training & Education

Training courses can be conducted at the Chris-Marine service centres around the world, or at the
customers own premises.
Authentic engine parts are used so that the most efficient working methods can be established.

Container Workshops - The Mobile Solution

Our mobile workshops, shaped as 10-, 20- and 40-feet containers, are completely tailormade workshops fully equipped with Chris-Marine and IOP Marine maintenance equipment. The turn-key containers can be placed on-board or close to a vessel, at a diesel
power plant ashore, or anywhere else even far from other workshops.

Just connect the unit to air- and power supplies to get a modern workshop with the latest
tools and machines on the market. As an option Chris-Marine offers containers with diesel generator and air compressor to make the plant fully independent of external power
supply.
Rent, lease or buy our mobile workshop containers with or without the TSA Crew.
Benefits of the TSA mobile hub:
Located near the engine in need of maintenance
Qualified maintenance at shortest time
Best quality
High performance
High accuracy
Time saving
Superb supervision
Flexibility
Cost efficiency
