This beautiful lace shawl is knit in a


wonderfully soft, slow striping Mochi Plus
yarn. The rectangle design means no
shaping so the simple lace pattern is easy
to work and it is knit in the lengthwise
direction.
Sizes:
Prior to blocking: 67" wide x 20" long
After blocking: 70" wide x 22" long
Gauge:
3.5 sts=1" in St st

Instructions
CO 238 sts.
K 2 rows, slipping first st of every row.
Begin pattern Rows 1-12 below, slipping
first st, k the next two sts, work pattern to
last 3 sts, k3 every row.
Row 1 (WS) and all WS Rows: Purl.
Row 2: K2tog, *k5, yo, k1, yo, k2, sl 1,
k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat
ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

Size: 68" long at top, 46" long each side, after blocking
(Each square measures approx. 6" x 6")

Materials:
Yarn: 9 - 50g balls of Crystal Palace Mochi Plus (Shown in #603 "Spice Market")
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo single-pointed needles US size 9;
Crystal Palace Bamboo 55" circular
needles US size 9 (for edge borders); Crystal Palace Bamboo single-pointed needles US size 10 (optional,
for BO)
Notions: 2 Stitch Markers

Gauge:

18 sts = 4" in garter st on size 9 needles

Abbreviations:

BO- bind off; CO- cast on; k- knit; k2 tog/p2 tog- knit/purl
2 stitches together; kfb- knit in the front and back loop to increase one stitch; ppurl; psso- pass the slipped stitch over; RS- right side (outside of garment); sk2pslip 1, K2 tog, psso; sl- slip as if to purl, unless otherwise noted; ssk- slip, slip, knit

This completes the basic mitered square. This first square will be the bottom center square of the shawl.
Follow the square directions and schematic drawing below for square placement and quantity of the
remaining squares.

Right edge squares:

CO 20 sts, pick up and knit 19 sts along right edge of mitered square (39
sts). Complete as for beginning square.

Left edge squares:

Pick up and knit 19 sts along left side of mitered square. Using cable cast-on,
CO 20 sts loosely (39 sts). Complete as for beginning square.

Inside (center) squares:

With RS facing, pick up and knit 19 sts along right edge of square, pick
up 1 st in top of square in row below, pick up and knit 19 sts along left edge (39 sts). Complete as for
beginning square.

Top Border Triangles:


Pick up and/or CO sts for triangles at top of shawl in the same manner as full squares. Continue as
follows:
Row 1 (WS): K39
Row 2: Ssk, K16, sk2p, K16, K2 tog.
Row 3: P35
Row 4: Ssk, K1, (yo, ssk) 6 times, K1, sk2p, K1, (K2 tog, yo) 6 times, K1, K2 tog.

Borders:

For bottom border:

With RS facing and using 55" circular


needle, pick up and knit one st in each cast-on stitch along one side of
shawl, place marker, pick up and knit one st in tip of bottom center
square, place marker, pick up and knit one st in each cast-on stitch along
other side of shawl. Turn and K to one st before marker, Kfb in next st (to
increase one st), sl marker, K1, sl marker, Kfb in next st (to increase one st), K to end. Turn and knit one
row. Repeat these 2 rows 3 times more (4 garter ridges on right side). BO loosely. (You can use a size 10
needle for binding off to achieve a looser finish.)

For top border:

With RS facing, pick up and knit one st in the end of each garter ridge at the top of
the shawl, pick up and knit 32 sts across the top of each top triangle. Turn and knit 7 rows, creating 4
ridges on RS. BO loosely. (You can use a size 10 needle for binding off to achieve a looser finish.)

Size: approx. 4.5" wide x 60" long


Materials:
2 - 50 gm balls Mochi Plus in #608
"rainbow trout"
1 pr size 9 Crystal Palace Bamboo
Needles
Fan Stitch: (multiple of 18 sts)
Row 1 (RS): [K2tog]3 times, [k1, yo] 6
times, [k2tog] 3 times.
Rows 2 & 3: Knit (slip first st)
Row 4: slip 1 st, P17
Instructions
Cast on 18 sts + 6 = 24 sts
Work 3 rows of garter st (K all rows)
The outer 3 sts on each side of scarf are
knit in garter st (K all sts).
The center 18 sts are worked in Fan St.
K3, Fan Stitch for 18 sts, K3
Repeat 4 rows fo Fan Stitch until almost
out of yarn.
End with 2-3 rows of K (garter st)
Cast off loosely.
Spritz with water or dampen, block & pin
on big towel to dry.

10 - 50 gr balls Crystal Palace Mochi
Plus, 'autumn rainbow'#557
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles size
10: 12" Single Point & 55" circular
2 ring markers

Gauge: 16 sts = 4"


Cable Cast On: Turn work and insert right
needle between first 2 sts on left needle, pull up a
loop, twist and place on left needle. Continue in
this manner to required number of sts.

BO-bind off; beg - begin (ning), COcast on; Dec-decrease; inc- increase;

section to top of shawl.
2- Knit
3- Inc in first st, K to 1 st before marker, inc, sl marker, K1, sl marker, inc, K to last st, inc.
4- Knit
Repeat rows 3 and 4 once more.
End by working a WS row.
Bind off loosely (Use larger needle to bind off if needed to keep bind off loose.)

Top straight border:


PU and K 46 sts along each section at top of shawl and 3 sts across each side of border.
Knit 3 rows. Bind off loosely.

Repeat across all fans. Knit 5 rows garter stitch. Change to size 10 needle to bind off loosely.

Mochi Plus is 80% Merino-20% nylon

Mochi Plus Rippling Stole


This stole drapes softly in various styles of
wrapping. This ripple pattern is a 4 row repeat
with only one row of pattern st and 3 of K or P.

Materials:
Crystal Palace Mochi Plus 6 - 50 gr balls (here in
#568 "blueberry pancakes")
1 pair Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles US size 10
(or knit the stole on a smaller needle for a more
dense look or larger for lacier version.)

Size: 13" x 72"


Gauge: Variable depending on size needle used.
Stitches
Garter Stitch Border: Outer 2 sts on each edge
are worked in garter st throughout (K on all rows)
Ripple Stitch: (multiple of 18 sts)
Row 1: (RS) K2 *[K2tog]3 times, [k1, yo] 6 times,
[k2tog] 3 times; rep bet *s; end K2
Rows 2 & 3: Knit
Row 4: K2, p54, k2
Instructions:
Cast on 58 sts.
Work 3 rows of garter st (K all rows)
Begin Ripple Stitch, keeping outer 2 sts in garter st.
Continue in Ripple St until almost out of yarn or
until scarf is desired length.
End with 3 rows of garter st.
Bind off loosely. Trim ends where you joined balls
of yarn.
Lay flat on carpet or bath towels, spray with plain
water, pin to desired width and leave to dry.
Note: When adding new ball of yarn, I overlapped
at beg of row by knitting yarn doubled for approx
5-6 sts.

Free Knit Lace Scarf Pattern

Mini Mochi Easy


Lace Scarf
Finished size:
8" x 60" (before blocking), 11" x 54"
(after blocking)
This scarf is knit all in one piece.
The pattern will give a scalloped edge at
both ends when blocked.

MATERIALS:
1.5 -50 gr. balls Crystal
Palace Yarns Mini Mochi #312 seafoam
The scarf shown in the photo uses 1.5
balls, of course it can be longer with 2
balls or shorter with one ball.
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles: 9" size
7.
Gauge: 4 sts = 1 inch in pattern stitch, 5
st=inch in St st
Abbreviations:
psso: Pass slip stitch over; sl1: slip 1
stitch; yo: yarn over; tog: together

Pattern: (see chart below for those


who prefer following chart)
Cast on 43 stitches very loosely.
Rows 1 and 3: (wrong side): Purl

Shop

Row 2: K2tog, yo, * k3, yo, k1, (sl 1,


k2tog, psso), k1, yo, k3, yo, (sl 1, k2tog,
psso), yo. Repeat from * to last 13 sts, then
k3, yo, k1, (sl 1, k2tog, psso), k1, yo,
k3, yo, (sl 1, k1, psso).
Row 4: K2tog, yo, * k4, yo, (sl 1, k2tog, psso), yo. Repeat from * to last 6 sts,
then k4, yo, (sl 1, k1, psso).

Repeat these 4 rows


until scarf measures 55 inches, or desired length. Cast off loosely on wrong side with
purl stitches. Wash or dampen thoroughly or spritz with water and block (DO NOT
STEAM TO BLOCK).
We blocked this scarf by pinning it on big bath towel to let it dry.

Sample scarf was knit with one ball of
Mini-Mochi. I personally would not block
the scarf as much as I like the ruffled
ends.

k3tog: knit 3 together (hint: knit 2 together, slip stitch back to LNH, slip 2nd st over

Instructions:
Picot cast-on: *Using the knitted cast-on, cast-on 6 sts; bind off 2 sts (one picot
made). Repeat from * until there are 7 picots. Cast-on 3 more sts. 31 sts.
Knit 7 rows.
Set-up row: k3, p2 tbl, k2, p7, k1, p1 tbl, k1, p7, k2, p2 tbl, k3.
Begin lace pattern, always knitting the first 2 sts and last 2 sts for a garter stitch
border. Work until scarf is desired length, ending on row 12.
Set-up row: k2, p1, LT, p2, k7, p1, k1 tbl, p1, k7, p2, LT, p1, k2.
Knit 6 rows.
Picot bind-off (right side): Bind off 3 sts. Slip stitch from RHN back to LHN. Using
the knitted cast-on, cast-on 2 sts; bind off 2 sts (one picot made). Bind off 4 sts,
make picot. Repeat until there are 7 picots. Bind off remaining stitches. Weave in
ends.
Block lightly, if you want the ends of the scarf to slightly ruffle. Block more, if you
prefer a "squarer" look.

Woven Cable Scarf

Description:

The woven cable stitch used in this pattern produces a greatlooking, great-wearing scarf. Use the Stitch Red color, Merino 5 in #1012 Crimson,
to support heart health.
Crystal Palace will donate 5% of the sales of this color to the Foundation for the
National Institutes of Health (FNIH) on behalf of The Heart Truth and the Stitch Red

7.25 sts=1" over cable pattern

3-3 Cable Pattern Row A: (right leaning cable)


K4, *place 3 sts on cable st holder and hold at back of work, K3, K3 sts off cable

0 (0, 5, 0) times73 (79, 83, 89) sts.
Work all increased sts into pattern as established. Work even until sleeve measures 17 (17 1/2, 18, 18 1/2)".
Shape Sleeve Cap
BO 4 (5, 6, 7) sts at beg of next 2 rows. BO 3 (4, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows, BO 2 (3, 3, 4) sts at beg of
next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end every row 4 times & every other row 5 times. BO 2 sts beg of next 6 rows

Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Work neckband, then placket bands. Sew buttonhole band to placket opening, place
button band under buttonhole band. Line up bottom edges. Sew them together. Sew sleeve to armholes.
Sew side & sleeve seams. Sew buttons to button band.
Neckband
Using size 7 circular needles, RS facing. Beg at back left neck (at opening) PU 10 (12, 14, 16) sts at neck
edge to shoulder seam; PU, 37 (41, 45, 47) sts around neck to right shoulder seam, PU 10 (12, 14, 16)
sts57 (65, 73, 79) sts. K 10 rows. BO all sts.
Placket Bands
Using size 7 needles, RS facing.
Buttonhole band
Beg at top right neckband. PU 32 sts along placket opening.
Rows 1-4: K
Row 5 (buttonhole band): K3, YO, ssk, *K6, YO, ssk; rep from *two more times, K3.
Rows 6-8: K
BO all sts.
Button band
Beg at lower edge of placket opening. PU 32 sts along placket opening to top of neckband. Knit 8 rows. BO
all sts.
