DISCUSSIONS
This field work entitled, Determination of the Height of A
Remote Point aims to develop the skills in getting the vertical
distance of a certain inaccessible point using a single vertical
plane and using two planes, horizontal and vertical. To acquire the
knowledge learned in the analysis of right triangles in determining
the height of a remote point. To learn how to read a vertical angle
of a transit. Also, to have the confidence of working with ones
party or group and to be fully responsible in the performance of
the assigned task.
Heights of surface features above sea level are determined
in four main ways: by spirit leveling, by measuring vertical angles
and distances, by measuring differences in atmospheric pressure,
and, since the late 20th century, by using three-dimensional
satellite or inertial systems. Of these the first is the most
accurate; the second is next in accuracy but faster; the third is
least accurate but can be fastest if heights are to be measured at
well-separated points. The last two techniques require
sophisticated equipment that is still very expensive.

HEIGHT DETERMINATION/REM MOTHOD
CONCLUSION
recent years, manufacturing improvements have permitted construction of direct-reading theodolites that are soon to replace the
vernier-reading transits. However, in most SEABEE construction,
the engineers transit is still the major surveying instrument.
We, as engineers must know this kind of technique because this
will be helpful for us in the near future. This will set boundaries to
what we are as engineers. The use of instruments, theodolites
and such wil help us effectively finish the field work. It is
necessary for us to practice using theodolite as early as now
because in the real world, as we practice or career we will be
exposed in projects involving such.
