McKnight shows how competent communities have been invaded and colonized by

The voluntary sector's role within social services provision has increased dramatically in
recent years, with the sector now employing more than a quarter of the social service
workforce in Scotland. With an ever evolving policy environment, growing expectations
from service users and society, demographic challenges, new technologies, limited
funding, and an emphasis on regulation, registration and up skilling of the workforce , it
is clear that all organisations, whatever their size or service, will have to maximise the
use of their current and future resources in order to provide quality services. Workface
planning will help you meet these challenges

There are many examples of Social Services across Scotland. Services which through
hard work, commitment and dedication of the staff who work in them, meet the needs of

Most adults who might be considered to be at risk of harm, manage to live their lives
without experiencing harm. Often this is with the assistance of caring relatives, friends,
paid carers, professional agencies or volunteers. However, some people will experience
harm such as physical abuse, psychological harm or exploitation of their finances or
property. The Adult Support and Protection Act 2007 was introduced to ensure that adults
who experience such harm will be protected.

duties and responsibilities for practitioners whilst also introducing a range of safeguards
for people who may be subject to legislation, including a requirement to involve people
who use services in decision making regarding their care, treatment and support

Anti-Discriminatory practice is about being aware that our society consists of lots of kinds
of differences between people. These differences are in relation to factors such as
gender, religion, racial origin, sexual orientation, social class, language, age, physical
ability and intellectual ability. In care work it is especially important that each person is
valued as an individual. Anti-Discriminatory practice involves viewing the differences in a

Community work in the 1990s nees to recapture its radical traditions. During the 1980s,
the very survival of community work demanded considerable flexibility and innovation.
Such adaptability is reflected in a diversity of initiatives spread throughout the country,
some of which are represented here.

The person-centred counsellor must always remember that she is a guest within the
clients world of experience. This first sentence encapsulates the 'essence' of personcentred councelling. Most other approaches to councelling and therapy are much more
exiting for the councellor and perhaps for also the client with the practitioner playing a
dashing role exhibiting mastery of sophisticated skills of analysis, interpretation and near
mystical insight into the clients condition and requirements for change. Comoared to this
exciting portrayal the person-centred councellor presents a somewhat quieter image.

The framework and report is intented as a format on which all significant information
relating to a particular child's circumstances is noted, for the purpose of evaluating need.
The task of developing the framework is difficult, particually in attempting to be
comprehensive and sensitive to individual circumstances, whilst being useful and
accessible. it is intended to be a flexible working-tool, which should be applied to work
with children and families in a variety of settings. it should be incorporated into the
overall workload and replace existing paperwork, ie children's hearing reports, child
protection reports, assessmetn of looked after children and assessment of children in
need. It is intended to facilitate the dynamic of a child's situation, which requires to be
evaluated at different stages, as and when new or changing circumstances occur. The
objective is not to merely produce an assessment report but to become an integral part
of case based activity, of which assessment is only one aspect.

You are a product of your learning. Everything you know, everything you can do and
everything you believe, you have learnt. Despite your learning being largely responsible
for who you are (you are what you learn) It probably is something you tend to take for
granted. Once we have left formal education, we continue to learn every day without
necessarily realising it.

Dr glas discusses with warmth and candor the onset of old age and various afflications
related to the changes in the physical body and senses that occur with the gradual
decline in the life forces . He works mainly toward establishing an awareness of the spirit
that can shine through increasingly as the physical forces gradually wear themselves out.
He offers an inspiring message to the elderly growing old can becomea light-filled
culmination of their lives, in personal satisfaction and happiness, and in finding their
proper places in society. what Dr. glas has to say will also be interesting to the young and
middle aged and will help create better understanding between young and old, leading to
a fuller participation in life's relationships.

liver stress, candida and hypothyroidism to depression, anxiety and low self- esteem- and
finally tap into your own natural energy potentials. This is your step- by- step guide to
transmuting chronic fatigue into lasting vitality. look good and feel great

The rhetoric of community living for people with learning disabilities emphasises
ordinariness. The central message has been that people can be liberated by moving
away from service-dominated structures and ideologies towards an approach founded on
helping people to be values and supported by their family and members of their local
community.
these futher rootin tootin shootin adventures of lobey dosser the sheriff of calton creek
straddle the decade of 1949- 1959 during which bud neill's cartoon strip appeared in
glasgow's evening times and later the Sunday mail. They illustrate the uniquely quirkey
and at times downright surreal neillian sense of humour and imagination which made
them probably scotland's most popular and best loved cartoon characters.

To people who use social care it can often seem that the
system doesnt work very well. They dont get much of a say
in how their support is organised. They generally dont know
how much their support costs. People have little control.
Our hopes and dreams for our lives is the plan we have put
together with South Ayrshire Council, pasrents and carers
and a number of agencies and people who have an interest
in learning disability.
Many Lives combines interviews from nine proffessionals
working within the field of epilepsy, with new footage of
epileptic seizures and useful practical tools that can be
printed from a PC or Mac.
