Is the Symphony for me?

Over 180,000 North Texans enjoy Plano Symphony Orchestra events
annually. Wonderful Texans of all ages have kept the Plano Symphonys
subscription series sold out for ten consecutive years - a rare record in
the industry. Many first-timers often comment, Why did I wait so long?
Perhaps the wait is due in part to misconceptions.

SYMPHONY CONCERTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE

Last season, many patrons enjoyed performances by internationally acclaimed artists with
the incredible members of the Plano Symphony Orchestra and Hector Guzman, conductor,
for as little as $11.50 per performance. Even some of the best seats in the house were
only $47.25. These are subscription prices, always the best value.

I MIGHT NOT KNOW WHEN TO APPLAUD

Feel free to appreciate a performance when you like. Recognition from an enthusiastic
audience is very gratifying to the performers on stage. No applause is a much bigger
worry on the bright side of the footlights! Dont hold back.

I DONT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THE MUSIC

Great music is a very powerful language that takes over where words fail. There are
few better ways to experience the thrill of great music than in a live performance by a
professional symphony orchestra.
The Plano Symphony Orchestra is known for offering a wide variety of music from classical
to popular, often on the same performance. If you would like to know more about the
music and guest artists, you can visit planosymphony.org, join us on Facebook and
Twitter, recieve e-notes (including video notes from Maestro Hector Guzman), attend free
pre-concert chats with the Maestro before each performance, and more.

Hector Guzman and the Plano Symphony

Orchestra open the 2016-2017 Season

Bellas Artes, the highest honor granted
by Mexicos National Institute of Fine Arts.
The Cincinnati Enquirer hailed Osorio for
effortless virtuosity and The New York
Times praised a long overdue return to New

SINGIN' IN
THE RAIN

CONCERT

A MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION
OCTOBER 29, 2016 | 8:00 PM
Eisemann Center
Hector Guzman, Conductor
Patricia Kelly, Host
There are a number of films that have become legendary in the
history of the industry. Singin in the Rain is one of those films.
The extraordinary and unforgettable dancing and singing of Gene
Kelly were immortalized in this film. This unique Plano Symphony
performance combines the music of a live symphony orchestra
with Kellys most iconic film.
While most people think of dance when they think of Gene Kelly,
music and, particularly, American popular song was central
to his work. It influenced him, inspired him, and, in many ways,
defined him. He worked closely with composers, arrangers and
musicians and held them in the highest regard, knowing it was
they who made his creations possible.

This spectacular multimedia

presentation will be introduced by
Kellys widow and biographer,
Patricia Ward Kelly.
