Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Haidar Adam. I am currently a Junior Lecturer at Airlangga University Faculty of

Law, Surabaya, Indonesia. Airlangga University is one of reputable university in Indonesia
especially in the eastern part. I graduated from the Law Faculty, Airlangga University in 2008
with a GPA 3.07 on a 4.00 scale. I hold Sar]ana Hukum, an undergraduate degree in law. In
the same year I had graduated from Airlangga University, and was recruited as a junior lecturer
there.
I am a member of the Department of Constitutional Law, in which l teach Constitutional
Theory, Comparative Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law. I am active in Human Rights
Law Studies (HRLS) as a researcher. HRLS is an institution where I can deepening my
knowledge and developing my advocacy skills. With my colleagues, I have actively conducted
research on constitutional law and human rights issues, such as indigenous people right of
Yahukimo in general election" and "The ultra petita decision of Indonesia constitutional court in
the case of judicial review. Currently, I am proposing two researches entitled dissenting opinion
of Indonesia constitutional court and women rights in East Java province legislation process. I
also give some speeches outside the class concerning constitutional law and human rights
issues.
As a lecturer, it is my responsibility; broaden my competence in law particularly in constitutional
law and constitutional theories. Besides, I must continue my studies to master level. With this
letter, I would like to apply the LLM in comparative constitutional law at Central European
University (CEU). I am eager to study there for several reasons.
First, as far as I know, CEU is the only University in the world which offers LLM in Comparative
Constitutional Law, which contain many courses related to my specific need. In addition, one of
the representatives of Reading University has come to my University and has agreed to develop
mutual cooperation between institutions. Furthermore, there is no university in Indonesia offering
such a program and few prestigious universities abroad do either.
The next reason is, the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University vision is establishing World Class
University in 2014. By joining the faculty, I can make a significant contribution not only to the
Law Faculty, Airlangga University but also to the society.
By studying abroad I can gain experience in an international academic atmosphere and learn
from other countries experiences in constitutional law, constitutional theories, and human
rights as well. Experiences from other country which applying different legal system will be
valuable input to my institution since most of my colleagues were graduated from our own
university. It will be an honor for me, both to develop post graduate thesis and learn from
Professors with wide experience in both theory and practice. No doubt, those will be very
useful, specifically in developing Human Rights in Law Faculty, Airlangga University. Furthermore,
my institution and my government fully support me to continue my project to study overseas.
I can engage all my ability to learn at your institute as well as bringing a different
perspective to share with my Professors and fellow students. I am confident that I could
accomplish higher study in the proposed field that will contribute to my professional interest
as well as to the society as a whole.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please contact me if you need any further information or
documents.

Sincerely yours,
Haidar Adam
