Only demolition debris, building trash and bulky items such as furniture, rugs, mattresses, etc. may be
disposed of in the designated area. We will not accept rugs larger than 4ft. X 4ft. or lengths of wood
longer than 4 feet. Large upholstered furniture, rugs and sofas will be weighed. If sofa is a sleeper
then the mattress has to be removed and there will be an additional charge for the mattress. The fee
schedule for demolition debris and building trash is as follows:
Passenger Vehicle
*Mixed loads are loads that contain 20% (by volume or weight) of metal, cardboard or other ban waste.
Note: All vehicles must be weighed at the gate scale, unless the Gate Attendant determines that the
minimum charge is in order due to the small volume of debris.

The charge for bulky items including furniture, mattresses, box springs, rugs, and other items as
determined by the Gate Attendant: (NOTE: *** qualifying statements below)

*** Scrap metal must be clean of all non-metal materials or a disposal charge will be levied said charge will be calculated as a weight charge or as a bulky item charge, which ever is most
appropriate.
*** Any item(s) larger than a 30 gallon trash barrel or weighing more than 20 lbs., singularly or
grouped will qualify as bulky items.
Large loads of mixed metal can be disposed of for a fee of $35.00 per ton.

Town residents and residential property owners may dispose of the following items at the fees
indicated:

Leaves and grass clippings can be disposed of by commercial customers for a fee of
$75.00 per load for loads up to a one (1) ton vehicle.

Town Residents and residential property owners with a Transfer Station trash disposal
sticker or a Recycle sticker may dispose of the following items at no cost:

Glass Containers
Newsprint
Plastic Containers

Cardboard
Cans
Used Clothing
Leaves
Grass Clippings
Oil Filters
Car Batteries
Anti-freeze
Christmas Trees until April 1st

At any time the Transfer Station scale is inoperative, the following schedule shall apply where weighing
is required:

ENFORCEMENT
It is the responsibility of all users of the Barnstable Transfer Station to stop at the gate and see a gate
attendant before disposing of all chargeable items.
Whoever, himself, herself or by his or her agent, or as the agent of any other person or any firm or
corporation, violates the above regulations shall be punished by a fine of not more than three hundred
dollars ($300).
The driver of any vehicle requiring weighing who leaves the Transfer Station after disposing of trash
without having paid the applicable fee shall be subject to criminal prosecution.
Continuous and flagrant disregard for the Rules and Regulations contained herein and/or posted at the
Facility shall be deemed sufficient cause for the supervisor of the Barnstable Transfer Station to bar
the entrance of any vehicle, or to revoke a Residential Transfer Station Sticker and issue the owner a
pro-rated rebate.
G.
EFFECTIVE DATE
The price of Residential Transfer Station Stickers will remain in effect through June 30, 2016.
Transfer Station Fees in this schedule are intended to be in effect January 1, 2015 through
June 30, 2016.

INCLEMENT WEATHER MAY RESULT IN THE FACILITY CLOSING WITHOUT NOTICE; ALL
EFFORTS WILL BE TAKEN TO PROVIDE ADVANCE NOTICE BUT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE.
THIS CLOSING IS BASED ON SAFETY CONCERNS FOR OUR RESIDENTS AND EMPLOYEES
BANNED MATERIALS
AT
BARNSTABLE TRANSFER STATION
Pursuant to the Department of Environmental Protection requirements of 310 CMR 19.000,
the following materials are banned from disposal with Construction & Demolition and Municipal
Household Trash.
Asphalt, Paving
Brick
Concrete
Batteries
Glass Containers
Metal
Appliances
Recyclable Paper
Recyclable Plastics
White Goods
CRTs- TV, Monitors
Tires
leaves and Grass
Cardboard
These materials will not be accepted at the construction & demolition area or with the
household trash. If loads are brought in containing these materials the loads will be charged
the mixed load rate. Concrete, bricks, paving and asphalt are not accepted at the Barnstable
Transfer Station. All other materials are accepted at the Transfer Station. Please refer to the fee
schedule for pricing.
