The proposed structure is to provide support for a four storey residential building. The building m
on plan with the first storey being between 3.0m to 3.675m high while the second to fourth is 3
separate duplexes on lying on top of the other thus making it four floors altogether. There ar
providing access to the first floor of the bottom duplex and the other three providing access to the
at the front and back side while the third is located on the third floor of the overlying duplex. Roo
on timber trusses which are supported by roof beams.
The structural solution comprises a reinforced concrete frame having a slab depth between 150m
230mm beams. The loads from the slabs and beams are transferred to the columns, which in turn
their self weight to the foundations through reinforced concrete pad foundations founded between
level.
Lateral stability is provided by frame action, the floor slab acting as a large horizontal diaphragm
frames.
