Trusting Jesus Beyond His Miracles, Part 3 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign,

Day 45)
TEXT: John 4:46-54
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And
there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto
him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at
the point of death.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not
believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the
word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying,
Thy son liveth.
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said
unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto
him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of
Judaea into Galilee.
---------Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon
series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with
unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the
main thing the main thing -- and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America
is not only disobedient presidents and politicians but disobedient pastors,
preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey God's Great Commission
and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands to "pray without

ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for
the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord
gives you peace about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it like the world
does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their
hearts right with the Lord.
This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which
says, "For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and
him crucified." Acts 5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every
house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2 Timothy 2:4
which says, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life;
that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of
those saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old story of Jesus and His love" -- As
the hymn says, "For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to
hear it like the rest." This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and
understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is
hell. This is message number 45.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see
the whole staircase."
Just as Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman resulted in living water being
given to her and her people, we see in this story of the nobleman and his son who
was sick unto death a demonstration of living faith. Living faith, real faith is
active. It is alive, not dormant. The nobleman had faith that Jesus had healed his
son based only upon His words. He didn't see the whole staircase, but he had
taken the first step.
The nobleman's belief led him to action. He left Jesus and began to walk back
home. He did not receive confirmation of his faith that his son had been healed
until he met up with his servants who were coming to tell him the good news. The
Bible says, "As he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him,
saying, Thy son liveth." This man's faith was rewarded. He left Jesus with no
proof of his son's healing, but he received proof as he acted on his faith.
We read further that he "then enquired of them the hour when the boy began to
amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."
Apparently, this man was so confident that Jesus had healed his son that he
waited until the next day before heading back to his home. "The father knew that

it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth." He
knew that he had made the right decision by taking the matter to Jesus. Instead
of hurrying back home, worried and concerned, he was able to rest that night
knowing that his son was in good hands.
However, the nobleman's faith in Jesus did not end there. His faith did not end
after Jesus worked the miracle that he wanted. The last verse of his story tells us
that he "himself believed, and his whole house." This man's single encounter with
Jesus was a catalyst for his own salvation and the salvation of his family. Not
only did this man come to Jesus for a one-time miracle; he got a permanent
blessing out of this event by believing in Jesus Christ and leading his family to
do the same. Some scholars believe that this government official from
Capernaum is the same government official named "Manaen, the foster-brother of
Herod" in the book of Acts who is described as a prophet in the church at
Antioch. If that is the case, we see evidence that this man's life continued to bear
fruit for Jesus long after the miracle of his son being healed.
Some of us only want to use Jesus when we get in trouble or when we need
something that only He can do. We ignore Jesus until He is the only one who can
save us. Even though God would rather that we have faith in Him from the start,
He is not mad at those who do this. Instead, He allows negative situations in our
lives if that is what it takes to draw us to Himself.
Tom Landry, the late, great coach of the Dallas Cowboys, was speaking to the
Board of Trustees at Dallas Theological Seminary when he said, "The job of a
coach is to make men do what they don't want to do, in order to achieve what
they really want." That is what Jesus does to us. Sometimes, He allows us to go
through terrible situations so that we will come to Him, submit to Him, believe in
Him, and let Him take us to the place where we need to be. To do so, we must
have faith, and we must allow that faith to take root in our lives so that it can
spring up into a tree that bears fruit for eternity.
Are you ready to take the first step of faith in your journey with Jesus Christ
today? If so, please take heed to what I am going to share with you right now.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken Gods law.
The Bible says in Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory
of God.
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans
6:23: "For the wages of sin is death

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in
Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the
soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and
the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death.
Now that is bad news, but heres the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Just believe in your
heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by
the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask
Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9 & 13 says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved."
If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and
rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please
pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and
that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I
choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins.
I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose
again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from
this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and
change my life today. Amen.
If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and
meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you
are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the
family of God! Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that
is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. For more information to help
you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and

10:9, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in
and out, and find pasture."
