Ticket: # 4815 - Signal

Date: 11/7/2014 7:19:15 AM
City/State/Zip: Minneapolis, Minnesota 55405
Description
There was a story recently about a hotel that jammed wifi signals and was fined for it. Why don't you
do a story on how bad television reception had become since being forced to a digital signal. Use to
be able to receive all channels with rabbit ears, now even with a digital antenna the major networks
are hard to get and spotty. Yet the second rate signals come in clear while they all are broadcast
from the same area. Are cable company's jamming your signal to increase their business? Think you
need to address this either as a news story or a broadcast issue. Will forward this concern to the
FCC to inform them of their short comings.

cant access the internet. I placed my computer on my floor when the rumble begins, and my
computer display warbles on my monitor. I have attached a short movie to show you what the wave
does to my computer. In addition, I was sitting on my bed one evening watching a movie with a
friend, and the The person below mel suspect is jamming my internet, and when not jamming is
using my wifi service which I though was secure (but AT&T just told me it was not using my Sierra
Device, WPA2 security).

Ticket: # 6451 - blocked wifi at hotel

Date: 11/10/20142:14:25 PM
City/State/Zip: Notre Dame, Indiana 46556
Description
Last week a group of colleagues attended a large convention at the Sheraton in New Orleans. One
of them was an exhibitor for three days and brought with her a mobile hotspot device that she's used
several times in the past at other hotels without issue. This time, however, the signal was painfully
slow and would disconnect shortly after connecting. We suspect that the Sheraton is doing the thing
the Marriott was recently fined for and deliberately blocked the signal of mobile internet devices. The
exhibits were on the 3rd floor of the hotel in an open area with nearby windows. There is nothing that
could explain why the signal would be weak/non existent other than it being intentionally blocked. In
addition, this device was tested in the lobby of the nearby Marriott and presented the same issues.

Ticket: # 55868 - Marriott Blocking WIFI

Date: 12/25/2014 11:33:04AM
City/State/Zip: Willowbrook, Illinois 60527
Description
I just read about Marriott filing a motion with the FCC to allow them (Marriott) to block WiFi hot-spots
being used by guests. I stay at Marriott and use my cell phone as a Wifi hot-spot to avoid being
forced to pay Marriott $15 -$20/day for access to their wifi system. I pay my wireless company
(Verizon) for my cell phone service and the ability to also use it as a wifi hotspot. I view this action by
Marriott as an attempt to force me to use their wifi system strictly for their financial gain. My using a
Wifi hotspot does not interfere with Marriott's wifi system nor does it let me "hack" (as Marriott claims
in their filing) into other guests computers. I view Marriotts action actually as an interference with my
freedom of speech as forcing me to use their system allows them to block me from sites (say Hilton's
website) they don't like.

Ticket: # 58241 - Blocked wifi at Harrahs Casino Las Vegas

Date: 12/29/2014 10:25:57AM

City/State/Zip: New York, New York 10023

Description
This is a phone/wifi issue. After staying at Harrahs Casino several times over the past few years, it is
apparent to me that Harrahs Casino is actively blocking wifi signals in an effort to force consumers to
sign up for their wifi, either as part of the hotel guest resort fee package or for a fee for those who
may be visiting.

Ticket: #62150 - Marriott's proposal to pay for the right to block WIFI
Date: 12/31/20144:54:01 PM
City/State/Zip: Fort Mill, South Carolina 29715
Description
It is my understanding that Marriott Hotels is offering to pay for the right to block WIFI hotspot signals
from personal cell phones and MIFIs. This equates to a payoff to allow them to break the law by
interfering with my cell signal. Please do NOT allow this to happen. I pay extra every month to have
both a MIFI as well as a hotspot option on my phone. They should not be allowed to interfere with my
cell signals by blocking such access. This is simply the Marriott trying to force ALL visitors to pay if
they want access. This should be optional for those who already have Internet access.
