ASSUMPTION OF ALL RISKS BY THE ENTRANT: With the full knowledge and appreciation that bicycle
riding could be a hazardous activity and consequence of my accepting this entry, I, intending to be legally bound for
myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators, waive and release any and all rights of claim for damages as I may
have against Bike 2 Build organizers, SLV Habitat for Humanity, or the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, their agents,
and towns, counties and state in which the event travels, their representatives, successors, and assigns, and for any
and all injuries and/or property damage suffered by me in said event. For the same consideration, the undersigned
parent or guardian herby indemnifies and agrees to hold Bike 2 Build organizers, and their agents, harmless from
any and all liabilities which may occur by the entry of the applicant in Bike 2 Build.
I will be expected to change my own flats and fix my own mechanical problems. I understand support vehicles are
available throughout the ride. I will wear an ANSI approved helmet. I allow the use of my image in photos and
video to help share the Habitat for Humanity message.

A group start is scheduled for 8am. It is the responsibility of each individual rider to leave early enough to ensure

arrival in La Veta by noon (when the course will be swept). If riding the train back from La Veta, departure for
Alamosa is approximately 2pm. Shuttle bus will leave La Veta at 3pm.

<J invite you to pedal 60 miles embraced by 14,000
foot mountain peaks beneath forever reaching blue
skies. The San Luis Valley, surrounded by the dramatic
Sangre de Cristo and San Juan Mountains, offers an
array of oudoor receation ~ from railroad excursions
and hot springs, to the Great Sand Dunes and more.
Alamosa hosts coffee shops, a local brewery, antiques
and galleries. The mighty Rio Grande winds alongside
picturesque Cole Park, a great spot for a sunset walk after
a day of pedaling through the mountains. For scenic sites

Take a beautiful scenic tour along the rails and climb
historic La Veta pass, the highest point in the US
which standard gauge crosses over a mountain pass
at 9,242 feet. We encourage family members
not pedaling over the pass to board the Rio Grande
Railroad in Alamosa ~ wind through country ranging
from agricultural flatlands to colorful foothills to
cliff-sided mountains. Join your rider in La Veta
and take the train back together. The Railroad will
transport bikes with no extra charge and will also donate
$10 of each ticket to Habitat for Humanity. For more

code is HABITAT (this offer is not available online).
Let the reservation clerk know how many return bike
spaces are needed. Riders can bring one carry-on item
on the train. There will be full food and beverage service
available on board for purchase. Riders boarding in La
Veta should be at the station by 1:30pm to load bikes
before general boarding at 2:15pm. There will be a
bench car for bikes, riders should provide padding if
necessary. The train ride is generally pretty smooth and
the bikes will not be jostled very much. The train arrives
back in Alamosa around 6pm.

building simple, decent, affordable homes with
low-income families and volunteers. Habitat
Homes are purchased with no-profit, 0%
interest mortgages. Habitat for Humanity has
been serving the San Luis Valley for 15 years.

on Saturday, July 24, 2010. A scenic 60 mile tour

rides when necessary. The Colorado State Patrol will
provide highway safety throughout the ride. Lunch,
organized by the La Veta Rotary Club, will welcome
riders. Additional guests may purchase lunch for $10.
There will be a brief time to enjoy the town of La Veta.
Return options include (1) riding the Rio Grande
Railroad to Alamosa, (2) riding a shuttle provided
by Habitat or (3) being picked up by family member
or friend in La Veta. We encourage family members
accompanying riders to enjoy a round-trip train ride.

Riders may drop off one bag with clothes, etc. in the morning
before the ride starts. For those not riding the train, a bus will
shuttle riders from La Veta back to Alamosa and a trailer will
bring the bikes. These will leave La Veta at 3pm allowing
enough time for riders to change clothes and eat lunch.
