Location of Incident: Taco Bell, 7051 Dodge St, Omaha, NE 68132
Date of Incident: January 1, 2016
Time of Incident: 1:50A.M.
Officers responded to a call on January 1st, 2016 around 1:50A.M. to the Taco Bell
restaurant located at 7051 Dodge Street. Criss Bail, an employee working that morning, stated
two men ordered at the drive-thru and proceeded to pay for their meal at the window, upon which
Bail believed he smelled alcohol coming from the car, but did nothing about it. The men drove
their car around and parked in in front of the restaurant. According to witnesses, moments later,
the passenger got out of the car in an aggressive manner holding a handgun. He started walking
towards the restaurants locked front entrance while yelling loudly and swinging the handgun
above his head. After a failed attempt to open the door, the passenger grabed a piece of concrete
and broke the glass. At this point the driver of the vehicle exited and joined the passenger as the
he entered the restaurant.
Bail stated he and his co-worker then tried to hide in the back of the restaurant but were
quickly found by the two men. The man with the handgun threatened the employees and told
them to give him all the money in the restaurant. Following restaurant policy, Bail and his coworker proceed to give the men all the money from the drive-thru cash register. After telling the
two men the other cash registers are empty for the night and Bail and his co-worker do not have
access to the safe, the two men left the restaurant through the front entrance and fled the scene in
their vehicle.
While questioning Bail, police determined he was under the influence of drugs. Upon
searching his pockets a pipe and a small amount of crack cocaine was found on Bail. Police
proceeded to arrest him for the possession of a controlled substance. The other employee
working at the time of the incident was not arrested for anything.
The original call came from a witness who had ordered from the drive-thru directly
behind the two men who robbed the restaurant. The witness said the driver of the vehicle was
very short, with red hair and a red beard, very light skin and wearing all green with a four-leaf
clover sticking out of the brim of his green top hat. The second man, with the handgun, was light
skinned, wearing a red shirt, blue overalls and white gloves. The armed man was also wearing a
red cap with the letter M on the front. The vehicle the two men left in was a black, 1980s
Pontiac Trans Am with red lights emanating from the front. The two men have not yet been
detained.
