What is an Option?
The legal definition of an option is
a contract to keep an offer open.
Basically, in real estate it is applied
in this manner: It gives one person
(Optionee) the right to buy, sell,
lease, exchange or mortgage a
piece of property from another
person (Optionor). The parties
included must conform to specific
terms and conditions within a set
time period.
