2.) Method of Construction

a) Site possession
Site possession consists of preparing the groundwork for further construction
process. The steps consist of clearing the site from any obstruction, establishing
temporary site office, and creating proper workspace for construction workers.
a.1) Site Clearing
Site clearing work require to all surface objects and all trees, fallen timber, rotten
wood, stumps, roots, snags, brush, other vegetation, rubbish, and other protruding
obstructions such as rubble, to be cleared and/or grubbed and disposed as
required. The clearing also include unsuitable materials to be removed to a depth
at least 50 cm below the original ground surface.
b.) Installation of Crane
The total number of crane that will be used for the project is three cranes each placed
in specific place according to the drawing plan. The type of crane that will be used is
static type with maximum reach of 55m.
c.) Excavation
The excavation process will be divided into 5 stages, with each stages differs
according to the area of work and the depth of the excavation. The excavation work

includes excavation of the ground soil, transporting the hauled soil into dumping
ground, and the installation of ground anchor along the 5 stages of work.
d.) Raft Foundation Installation
The centennial tower project will be using raft foundation as the base of building
foundation. Raft foundation consists of a raft of reinforced concrete under the whole
of a building. This type of foundation is described as a raft in the sense that the
concrete raft is cast on the surface of the ground which supports it, as water does a
raft, and the foundation is not fixed by foundations carried down into the subsoil.
Raft foundations may be used for buildings on compressible ground such as very soft
clay, alluvial deposits and compressible fill material where strip, pad or pile
foundations would not provide a stable foundation without excessive excavation. The
reinforced concrete raft is designed to transmit the whole load of the building from the
raft to the ground where the small spread loads will cause little if any appreciable
settlement.
e.) Bore Pile Installation
The bore pile that will be use is made by concrete reinforced steel with the total
number of bore pile used is 500.

4.) Combined Equipment and Calculation

a.) Site clearing
There are two procedures to these steps which is land clearing and stripping. The first step
is done by excavator and hauling truck to remove any obstruction on the top of soil.
Because there is no clear explanation on how much obstruction is encountered during site
clearing process, and the equipment used, were using assumption as the basis for our
calculation.
Original Land Dimension :133.2 m (front side/Jl. Gatot Subroto)
101.5 m (Jl. Guru Mughni side)
132.9 m (back side)
95.3 m (BIP side
Original Land Area

: 13140 m2

Stripping volume

: 13140 x 0.5 = 6570m3 of soil

Swelling Factor

: 10%

Total stripping volume

: 7227m3

Clearing and Stripping Calculation

Equipment:

Excavator
Assume:
Bucket Capacity

: 0.8m3

Cycle time (per load)

: 25 second

Additional time

: 10 second

Complete cycle time

: 35 second

Volume per hour

: 83m3/hour (swell of 10%) 91m3/hour

Volume per day (5 hour x 2): 455m3 910m3

(From working time of 6 hour, 50 minutes effective time per hour)
We assume there are two excavators used to do the stripping process, so the total volume
per day will be 910 x 2 = 1820m 3. For initial stripping volume of 7227m3, the amount of
day needed to clear the site will be 7227/1820 = 3.97 days or four days of work.

Dump Truck
Assume:
Dump truck capacity (q)

: 20m3

Distance to dumping ground

: 40 km

Average speed

: 40km/h

Time of Travel

: 1 hour

Cycle time of dump truck

Excavator capacity

: 0.8m3

Loading time

: 10 second

Load time

: 250 seconds (4.17 minute)

Maneuver during loading and unloading : 2 minutes

Unloading Time
-

: 2 minutes

Cycle time (CT): loading + maneuver x 2 + travel time x 2 +

unloading
: 4.17 + 4 + 120 + 2
: 130.17 minute

Dump truck efficiency:

Q = q x 60 x E
CT
E = efficiency factor

= 20 x 60 x 0.83 = 7.37m3/hour
130.17

Dump truck production per day

: 10 hour x 7.37 = 73.7m3/day

Excavator production per day

: 1820m3/day

Number of truck needed

: 1820/73.7= 24.7 (26 dump truck 1 backup)

b.) Crane Assembling

The type of crane that will be used in the project is top-slewing (fixed tower crane).
There will be three tower crane that will be built each with capacity of 2.4 ton (max)
and longest reach of 55m.
The whole assembling process will took 50 days as the leveling of the crane is
adjusted to the height of the building itself. At a certain level, the crane will be
jointed to the building to increase it stability.
The process will contain:
Bored piling 2days
Rebar setting 7 days
Formwork

2 days

Foundation pouring concrete 1 day

Curing

14 days

Installation and testing 10 days

Crane placement location

stages differs according to the area of work and the depth of the excavation.
