PROCEDURE T & C FOR LIFT

1.

TESTING AND COMMISSIONING

Upon completion of the installation work, the Contractor shall have checked and
adjusted all parts of the installation to ensure that each and every section of the work
is in proper working order.
When he is satisfied that everything is in operating order, he shall arrange with the
S.O. and the Inspector of Machinery for carrying out commissioning of the
installations. He shall also carry out all the acceptance tests as stipulated hereunder
and any other tests as may be deemed necessary by the Inspector of Machinery.

2.

Power supply Check Stage

During this stage the main procedure is to establish the power supply to the
respective elevator and to measure and check the power supply capacity to confirm
requirements. Volt and Amp Meter or Multi-Meters are to be used.

3.

Wiring Connection Check Stage

At this stage the Testers/Adjuster will double check all wiring connections as done
earlier in the Installation Work Procedure Assembly in accordance to Drawing. The
testing team is to ensure all wiring connection are properly tighten and insulated.

4.

Slow speed Testing Stage

During this stage the elevator will run on slow speed. Adjustment and clearance will
be check and operation inspected. Second stage cleaning will be done on sensitive
moving parts for the next procedure of high speed testing.

5.

High speed testing stage

During this stage the elevator will be running on high speed and operation inspected.
All safety switches shall be check before running high speed.

6.

T&C Procedure For Lift System

During this stage the elevator is test run to ensure smooth running without any
obstruction of moving parts. At the same time appointment is made with Department
of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Inspector to inspect and commission the
elevator.
7

Commissioning Stage
During this stage the work procedure is to ensure that the inspection carried out by
the Inspector from DOSH is done smoothly and in accordance to local and overseas
statutory requirements.

I.Drop Test

i.If required, a drop test shall be applied to the fully loaded car, in order to test the
efficiency to the safety gear as specified.
II.Over speed Test
i.An over speed test shall be carried out in order to determine the efficiency of the
safety gear as specified.
III.Balance Test
i.Each lift shall be run in both direction under balanced load conditions and
instrument readings taken in order to determine whether the balance is as
specified.

IV.Load Test
i.Each lift shall be run in both directions under various load conditions from no load
to 10% overload and instrument readings taken to determine the relations
between load, current and speed.
ii.Each lift shall be subjected to a two (2) hour test with the Lift carefully loaded,
stopping at each floor on the up and down trips, during which the doors shall be
fully opened and closed. Stops at the lower terminal landing shall be of one (1)
minute duration and the other floors only of sufficient duration to permit the
opening and closing of the doors.

V.Safety Operation Tests

T&C Procedure For Lift System

i.All safety circuits, governor trip devices, door contacts, limit switches and other
safety devices shall be simulated to show satisfactory safe operation of the lift
installations. The Contractor must submit a full report of the safety operation tests
as specified in the lift code or other further conditions as may be deem necessary
by the S.O. or Inspector of Machinery.
VI.Temperature Rise
i.Tests shall be made to ensure that the temperature rises of motors magnet
operating coils and bar resistances, conform to those submitted by the Tendered
in the Schedule of Technical Data of Equipment Offered.
VII.Insulation Tests
i.The insulation test of the whole the installation shall not be less than 1 Mega
Ohm between any phase conductors and earth when measured with 1,000 Volt
Megger.
VIII.Performance Test
i.For comparison of performance, Tenderers shall state in the Schedule of
Technical Data of Equipment Offered the time taken for the car to travel from
stop and deceleration to creep speed, leveling and closing and opening the car
and enclosure doors.
ii.Timing on this sequences of operations will be taken with various car loadings,
up to full load and in both directions of travel.
iii.A check on car speeds in both directions of travel with varying loads up to full
load will also made.
The Contractor shall provide, at his own expense, all labour, weights, apparatus
and instruments properly calibrated, required for carrying out all the tests.
